I appreciate the comparison. I like the large reservoir of the iHarvest but being in an apartment it might be too noisy with water sounds. Also it’s a bit larger. If I was back in my house it’s a no brainer I’d choose it and put in a downstairs room. Considering the apartment, I will probably go with the Gardyn.

Well, I am biased because I bought Gardyn first. I like it for the aesthetic and the app. It is top of the line across all smart gardens that I looked into (at least for the less than $1k systems). But I prefer iHarvest when it comes to cleaning and ease of maintenance in general. However, you only need to deep clean twice a year.Also, iHarvest does not rely on proprietary parts when something breaks. Right now Gardyn is having a holiday promotion. You can take off $200 if you use my code PLANT4TABLE, that's only $600 for a smart garden. Can't find a better deal than that. Offer expires on December 14.

I loved videos of your new hydroponic set up and ordered 1 Gardyn with 1 aerogarden bounty after watching ur video. I saw you were growing eggplants and cucumbers, but do you have those plants also growing in Gardyn? If you do, are they doing well as in iharvest? I love iharvest too but loose cables from lights is a problem with little toddlers.
@plant4table
@plant4table 3 года назад
I grew cucumber in Gardyn in one of the videos. I haven't tried eggplant but it should be fine. However, you have to grow plants that require similar ppm (nutrient) range. I would not recommend mixing lettuce and eggplants/cucumbers. This applies to all systems. That's why I grew eggplants and cucumbers together.

Hi. I love your channel! We just set up our first Aerogarden today. I’m positive it will not be our last hydroponic system. Are you very familiar with LettuceGrow? Have you ever considered it? I’d love to hear what you think of it
@plant4table
@plant4table 3 года назад
Hi, I did considered LettuceGrow when I started out. However, the 360 degree design of the LettuceGrow doesn't work for me. I need something against the wall cz I have limit space. It might be good for outdoor. I also dont like the ring light, it seems to limit the height of the plants. I prefer vertical light like iHarvest and Gardyn.

Tremendous helpful, thank you so much. I’m still deciding to purchase between that options, as I understand the iHarvest is the best for bigger plants, less maintenance, more quiet. Is that right? I think I’m going to buy the iharvest. Thank you thank you so much, I love your content.

@@plant4table Thank you so much, I have a question do you know something about the nutrition between soil and hydroponics? are they pretty much the same? Thank you 🙏
@plant4table
@plant4table 3 года назад
@@pinwicajones8393 "The difference between the two is how the nutrients are made available to the plants and how much energy the plant expend to find and absorb the nutrients it needs." Basically the nutrients are the same in hyroponic solution and in soil. When growing in soil, the plants have to work harder to find nutrients they need, thus the root system needs to get bigger. In hydroponic solution, the plants don't need to work as hard because nutrients are readily available. Therefore, the root system is smaller and plants grow faster. Considering the vitamins and nutritional values that we intake from the plants, studies have shown that they are the same whether grown hydroponically or soil because vitamins are created by the plants themselves after intaking the nutrients from soil or hydroponic solution. Although some people complain that tomatoes don't taste as good or as sweet comparing to growing in soil. I think adding Cal Mag can improve that problem. I personally don't like tomatoes so it doesn't really affect me. Hope my answer helps.

Is it easier to grow things with different PPM requirements in the gardyn or the Iharvest? Also, can you use rapid rooter in the gardyn or rockwool in the Iharvest?
@plant4table
@plant4table 4 года назад
It's ok to grow different plants as long as the ppm differences are not huge. For example, it is okay to grow cucumbers and eggplants together because the ppm ranges are similar. However, I would not grow lettuces and eggplants together. You can look up the chart in this link and you will see what I mean igworks.com/blogs/the-igworks-indoor-gardening-blog/nutrient-and-ph-chart-for-growing-fruits-and-vegetables-with-hydroponics I don't see the problem of using rapid rooter in Gardyn and rockwool in the iHarvest, as long as they fit in the net cup and the grow medium is moist enough for seeds to germinate. If you see the video I just uploaded today, I use a tiny grow medium in the iHarvest and they are doing just fine. Grow medium is just to hold the seed in place during sprouting stage :)
@theravenjoie
@theravenjoie 4 года назад
hello :) I was wondering your method of preventing insects on your indoor hydroponic systems. Any advice?
@plant4table
@plant4table 4 года назад
Hello :) I would say to prevent it in the first place, do not have any soil matter near your hydroponic system. I know many people have indoor plants growing in small pots of soil and that's a no no. However, fungus gnats and other insects can fly in when the door is open. The 2 common pests that people deal with are aphids and fungus gnats. For aphids, you can spray the leaves with a mixture of neem oil, water and a drop or two of dish soap. I find neem oil and water alone are just as effective. For fungus gnats (little tiny flies), you can use the yellow sticky pad to trap the flies so that they dont lay eggs. For the lavae, you mix 1 part of 3% hydrogen peroxide and 4 part of water, then spray the grow medium. It is inevitable that you have to deal with those pests at some point, regardless of what indoor system you have. I hope this is helpful. I will do a video about pest control soon.

Could you grow a wide range of plants by keeping the gardyn system at 1.4EC and pouring a higher EC occasionally into the cups of plant with higher requirements? Ex) pour 5.0 EC into tomato cup once a day.
@plant4table
@plant4table 3 года назад
The thing is that the pump is supposed to run 3 times a day, and whatever you pour in the tomato cup will get flushed out, hence increase the EC in the resevoir. I grew tomatoes, peppers and lettuces together and they did just fine together. Cucumbers do need higher EC to do well though.

Do you have to be to mount both to the wall? Or just the Iharvest?
@plant4table
@plant4table 4 года назад
I recommend everyone to secure both the Gardyn and iHarvest into the wall, especially if you have kids/pets and your floor is not tile. I don't have my Gardyn mounted into the wall because I have grown mostly lettuces, but as I grow heavier plants, I will have to. Luckily, my basement floor is tile. Also, if you have the iHarvest, clipping in the netcups is a must! Or else you will find water on the floor because the plants tilt forward as they get heavier.

@plant4table

Gardyn barely has any sound. It is the most quiet among the ones I have. Water pump runs only 3 times a day, 5 minutes each. And you have to be 1 foot away in a quiet room in order to hear it while the water pump is on. I wouldn't recommend having an iHarvest in a bedroom due to the water sound.
