You have a gift for explaining complex jazz theory in a way I understand it. And I love that you always put it into practical use and show us what to do with it. That's the only way theory makes sense to me.
More jazz guitar secrets unveiled by the Queen of Swing! You are a fountain of clear musical knowledge. I highly appreciate your hard work and dedication. Blessings and best wishes for your husband’s complete recovery.
Thank you Sandra Sherman - I've been following your videos since I got a liking to Jazz chords and finger-picking few months ago. I have improved a lot and these video just puts icing to the cake (so to speak) - Thanks a million
Love your concepts and this one is particularly awesome! I think I heard the sound of the 13b9 chord before,, it's the kind of modern sound I love so much. Thanks, Sandy!
Exactly what I needed, a clearly explained and easily applicable explanation of the half whole. I have always had trouble visualising where it fit in relation to the dominant chord, but this makes perfect sense. Thanks as always for such great content.
Was a little surprised to see the post today, but made for a nice lunch😄 (as usual)! Nice lesson and tips👍😄. Since you are on symmetrical scales, and asked for lesson ideas… I’d love to see what you could do to provide some practical application tips for Messiaen mode 3. In particular, how to apply/incorporate this sound into more traditional playing as an available color. I’ve studied this here and there, but actually using it in my playing has proven tricky - and, I know your teaching style would many of us have a light bulb moment💡😄. Best to Andy during recovery… hope you both can find some relaxation moments!
Yup! Modes of limited transposition… mode 3: Root - Whole/half/half/whole/half/half, etc … symmetry by thirds. Dark but cool if played in wide intervals😄.
Hello Sandra, so good see you teaching again. I've been busy trying to play after the surgery, I still am experiencing numbness in the fingers and there is less pain. I probably needed neck surgery and with this Covid Farce going on it's hard to get medical attention, unless you get the jab, which I will not do. It's been a struggle for me. It made me happy to watch this video, you are sounding very good. Much love from deep in the heart of Texas.
Honestly I don't know what to suggest or request 😕 for you to teach us as I'm just a beginner. Work on beginners , intermediate and chord melody book OK? Containing inspirational quotes maybe. I got Jody Fisher books here they great but I'd definitely buy your books!
Love your play Sandra, will you do a solo tutorial of Billie’s Bounce in the future ? that’s my favourite jazz standard piece, hope you’ll have a great day😊
Sure! It didn't nahezu HOW you find things. All that matters is that you have a reference (to the root or chord etc) and are able to find your stuff quickly.
Question: Why can't we use the Diminished scale for this G13b9? Isn't it an altered V chord going to a I. Or is the 13th not considered altered? Thanks for so many informative, helpful lessons.
@@GuitarversumSandraSherman Thanks so much. And I love your command of the English language with the occasional self doubt concerning the use of the correct adjective: " much or many". Your English is better than many Americans, much better.
