There's a few of these systems around, and even some speaker manufacturers now include them in their systems... and that's because they work.
In this I also double checked the results from IK Multimedia ARC Studio and was stunned at how accurate it is.
I've had the Sonarworks Sound ID (previously called Reference 3&4) for a few years now - and the difference it made was staggering. IK Multimedia have just brought out ARC Studio - which is similar but uses a breakout box rather than being solely software.
Both do the job very well. The Arc System is simpler to use and a bit quicker to set up. The Sonarworks feels more precise when setting up (as it sonically locates your position), and is easy to use on different monitors if you have a selection in the studio. ARC would require some physical patching. BUT.. sometimes I've found Sonarworks to be a little fiddly and frustrating when I'm in a rush and the system has software complications (mainly my fault for not concentrating, but also the systems fault for needing me to concentrate!).
As I've now only got a single pair of monitors I'll be using the ARC Studio.
Give it a go... you'll be shocked at how different your room sounds.
