They both had awful timing.. 1993 was such a stacked year across the board. That being said I agree 100%; as much as I love TLJ in the Fugitive if Lawrence had been nommed for Supporting Actor instead of Best Actor I see him winning it. One of the best realistic villain performances in film and he really got into it.
It doesnt work that way. Ike gave her more than an opportunity. He taught her everything about music. I dont care how talented you are at anything you still need the right coach to make that talent shine. So ike did not simply give her opportunity . There is alot more to it than that
A lot of ppl are talented and never make it so her making it came by way of getting her @$$ beat..her success walked hand and hand with her curse, so sad
@@emhartung yeah I always wondered why she did not display some of that intelligence say way back the first time Ike hit her . Not the second time or the 5th time or the ninth time but the very first time. In my mind any woman that lets herself be victim to that a second time just plain out likes it so she's sick in the head. So she usually gravitates to someone as sick as her and they could be sick together and beat each silly . I know if somebody whacked me once they would never see me again. I guess everybody doesn't think like me though and they want to get whacked again . Do you see where we are going on this. It gets to be asinine on her part.
Honestly she answered everything like she's not being truthful.. steady stroking her hair.. saying things like I don't care what everybody thinks.. says.. she intended to destroy the man character and.. keep the name he made.. then come out years later and say yea a lot of the things in the movie didn't really ever happen
Sooner or later people's true colors eventually comes out and Ike's showed his on this interview. He was a coward, narcissist, bet he wouldn't mess with a dude that's why he took it out on Tina and the children.
Wow! Tina is literally the definition of unbothered. Here, she shows that she doesn’t need his validation as she knows exactly what happened, distanced herself from him and never looked back. This interview shows that she has zero anger or bitterness and is simply is focused on her solo career. Not only is she an incredible performer, she is incredible in spirit and perseverance and the art of letting go!👑🎤🕊️
I like how Rosanne had Ike appear on one of her shows and then put it on him in front of her audience to admit that he beat Tina up and treated her badly.
Love it, “she knows what happened, moved on and never looked back.” YES. SHE. DID ! Some of the most clear, true words that have ever been spoken about Queen Tina.
A blind person could see him flinching and a deaf could hear his lies. Tina exudes such poise , Serenity and class. Well done Tina. She looked forward and focus on Her soul. 🙏🏼🙏🏼
Well Written And Said👍 You're Absolutely Correct‼️ All Of Ike Turners Stuttering And Denying😳 You Can Tell He's Lying Wants To Coverup The Truth😡 The Mood Swings And Violence Of Cocaine Addicted Users‼️
He had the nerve to say he knew women who sang better and look better..like what was the point of carrying on like that still trying to break her down meanwhile she's out here living her best life. That's a black man for ya!
Showing her those clips of Ike speaking ill of her was a very low thing to do imo. She seemed really disgusted at having to see and hear him again after so many years. She is one classy, dignified lady. Chapeau.
Jann Orfi I am glad the interviewer showed Tina the clips of what Ike said. It's only right. There is a movie and book done on how Ike behaved. He had to face that image of himself for the rest of his life. The least Tina can put up with is a few clips of what Ike had to say. She's a strong woman and I feel she did well in the interview.
He said he knew women that sang and look better than Tina but, Tina continued to flourish and do her thing. She didn’t compete with anyone, because she knew what she was brought into this world to do. May she Rest In Peace.
That was just a slick way of him saying he didn't want or need her, but she needed him. If he honestly could've gotten other women with better talent, he most definitely would've and wouldn't have been so jealous and controlling of her.
Tina didnt see people for what race they were, she saw people for whom their hearts were, what kind of soul and talent they had. Rest in Peace beautiful lady
Tina was not an angle no more than like was. . They both was violent, abusive with each other . They cheated on each other and both of them was most definitely on drugs. Everyone around them has said so.
Domestic violence is real, if you have ever witnessed it in person it doesn't take a genius to understand Tina would have died if she had stayed with him.
I don't think he would have killed his cash cow. She was the star, and he was so bitter and jealous of her stardom, and how she rose so high in the music industry, and he didn't.
This is so painful to watch. You can see the hurt in Tina's expression and eyes every time Ike rebutted Tina's recollection. You can almost see her revert to the hurt, scared girl just by hearing his voice. She loved him and that is all. Tina is a special woman, she is strong, she changed my life and I love her.
I never thought Tina was ashamed of her race, rather she was trying to appeal to a larger audience. Europe embraced her, very much like Josephine Baker and many others artists that get more recognition & money touring overseas. She never hid who she was.
@GROWN WOMAN Are you high right now? If he was high on drugs or drunk on alcohol, chances are he doesn't remember a lot of his abusive behavior. Glad Tina survived it and put it in her past. She showed here what a classy lady she is. Can't say the same for Ike!
I 100% agree Tina is amazing and people who say Beyoncé well if you love her so much you would know Tina is her idol and her inspiration idiots so Tina is still on top,! And people who say Mariah, Mariah just stands there and sings, Tina entertains that's why Tina has a higher net worth because she sings and dances.
*Yep! Ike was just a lying, bitter beeash! Tina was the one with all the talent that he merely tried to hitch his wagon onto. That's why he failed while she flourished, broke many records, & grew to be a thousand times more successful on her own than she ever did under his brutal clutches...!!! Rest in peace beautiful queen.* 🕊
Honestly speaking if you press pause after every time he asked her a question or he played a clip her face literally look like she was holding back the tears from wanting to cry so it doesn't matter the extent of nor how "badly" the abuse the fact is she was abused and for decades!!!!
That was hilarious how he said she talks with a English or Australian accent now 😂 which I'm sure was a trip for him knowing her before as a country girl 😂😂😂
You got to realize Tina wasn't always that sweet kind innocent woman she portraits herself to be she would Get women off the streets to party with Ike in different cities Tina could throw some hands. Im glad she Matured and became a Classy young Lady
Warching this made me really sad. You can see the emotions she’s holding back everytime he speaks. Anyone who has been abused can easily identify with what she’s feeling and the strength it takes to Not let it overpower you. I’m so glad she broke away free of him and that toxic environment. God is real! 🖤✨🙏🏽
This was horrible to watch, any other celebrity would have got up and left. It's a credit to her that she managed to sit through the whole thing without breaking down.
Tina said, it was open to all and no blacks came, i wouldn't wait either, but back then no social media to help you get a gig like today,as a black man i have no problem how tina handle her success, great for her and who's to questioned it. overseas loves music no matter what you look like, can't say that about america.
COMEDIAN SENATOR_P, I must agree with you. America gave Tina her ass to kiss after she walked away from Ike...She went and stayed true and loyal to the people who jump started her singing career again.....Europe loves music and they are faithful to the very end. Hell I would've moved too. Lol
@@cynthiaingram3597 I was a kid in Europe at the time and Tina was the IT woman of the planet. We saw her as an American however without any distinction. She was an American entertainer like Michael and Elvis...and to us Americans were a force of nature. This was the main trio in Europe and we didn't see any distinction, we just saw a freedom and rawness to them that Europeans don't have because we tend to be more quiet and reserved while Americans are open and "wild"...and it's true we supported them the most. When the US was tearing MJ down, Europe loved him the most
Ike was crazy and completely incriminated himself.... I thought Lawrence Fishborne exaggerated his Ike impersonation but he was spot on & made Ike seem more intelligent than his real self 😂😂😂
The look in Tinas face at 4.29. says it all. she almost bursts into tears, plus the look of horror. The fact he says their whole life was a lie, all the history they had times where I'm sure she felt loved, trusted him in the early days etc all of it. thats got to hurt.He was a total Bastard and an abuser, theres no excuse for any of that.
Si Smith she loved this man and him saying there life was a lie it still hurt her. Wow, her face of hurt and fear says it all after so many years i. this interview. She loved this man.
Si Smith Yes You Can Actually See The Hurt In Her Face And That's *SAD* 😔🤧. What Did She Do To Him For Him To Beat Her That Bad And Say The Stuff He Said In This Interview To Her. That's So Messed Up
I think it looks like she was reliving that moment, or seeing him brings up a host or terrible memories. Then she smiles and puts it away, great control and dignity on her part.
She’s visibly nervous seeing Ike and sad talking about her past. Yet, she professionally handled the interview. I would have canceled the interview. Bless her soul
i believe every single word you said , he said we cant find a scar on her . I bet we cant they are 14 years gone since she left to the interview was done
MY AUNT LIVED IN BALDWIN HILLS IN 60'S DOWN THE STREET FROM THEM SHE SAID IKE WAS A MOFO,, AND THEY ALWAYS SAW TINA BLACK AND BLUE . BUT IN THOSE DAYS IT WAS MARRIED FOLKS BUSINESS... HAVE A PIC OF TINA IKE AND MY AUNT AND UNCLE , MY UNCLE WAS A ATTORNEY AND MY AUNT A SECREATRY AT STAX RECORDS
I know a Narcissist now who does the same thing, "uh, uh, uh, hold on!" That means he's about to go off. They can't handle it when things don't go their way.
@@msjw1997 i believe ike and tina the movie wasnt true tina even said that and ike had a speech impediment, if you watch ike and tinas interviews in the past tina was the one who spoke, as you can see here ike stutters,
@@lightnoir6914 yes I'm sure Ike stuttered, but he WAS a Narcissist and many of them sound the same. It sounds very familiar to me having sent much time with one.
What an amazing lady no matter how tragic her life was she turned it around and never looked back She let go of all the pain and abuse and focused on her future An example for all of us!
For him to say in the very beginning 'if that what it takes to get her where she is today, I have no regrets' Means he definitely did it and I don't know why he's trying to deny this.
"Our whole life was a lie," oh God, I felt for Tina. It's amazing what these sociopathic men can do to a passionate woman, but when she moves on she's like a freed bird that soars to amazing heights.
She speaks very well and very honest about Ike. She did say she learnt many things from Ike and thats so true. She says the truth and the whole truth, nothing but the damn truth. Good on you Tina Turner, you my dear have definitely come a long way.
@@sharonjensen3016wrong try again biter female feminist Tina was not an Angel you’ll delusional women know it but your ego want let you though she was a devil 👿 rip to both Ike & tiny 🙏🏿
Always a lady, I cried at the news of her dying, but knew this beautiful bird was free at last to fly to Heaven and join her loved ones. He was a cruel human and hurt her every way possible. The Ike & Turner Review was the very first concert I ever attended, in Germany, 1975. He stood there strumming and singing in that deep voice, while she lit the stage in that swishy dress and with her amazing energy. Tina made Tina, she was always Anna Mae Bullock in her heart, and knew Anna Mae deserved simply the best. I love her music, the playlist in my iPhone impressively spans her career! Rest in peace and power Tina! There are no tears in Heaven~🙏
But can you blame her? After all she's human to let it out while composing herself strongly because he was a pathetic monstrous terrible excuse for a human being as well as a man for all the pain he put her through. Like she said & how Angela Bassett reenacted it on the plane scene as she was walking away upstairs to the upper level of the first class cabin, Ike Can Go Straight To Burn In Hell where he rightfully so belongs!
Folks always talked about Angela Bassett was looked over for the Oscar. I always thought Laurence Fishburne was also deserving. I always thought I knew Ike Turner and I had never seen or watched him before the movie. This movie was a classic.
Ike Turner attempted to belittle Tina's success by saying she would have been a nurse's Aide if not for him. But let's be honest, if not for Tina Turner, nobody would know who Ike Turner was! And he never had a bigger artist than Tina. That's the real truth. Great musicians and music writers still need great performers to introduce a song to the public. Tina is a once in a generation vocalist.
Tina Turner, What a Classy Lady. So sorry that Tina had experienced violence in a personal relationship and for a long time too. But the bad times that Tina experienced in her life made Tina a better woman, a role model for women, and a music Icon for the world.
@@Deex338 -tell u the truth, I feel sorry for the fool deezy dee. Their must have been a lot of pain in his life when he was younger growing up, in order for him to act like that...……..smdh
Her attitude is inspiring for so many women who have gone through abuse by their ex. She certainly made a difference and left this world experiencing true love. Rip Tina!!!
This is an old interview now, but I still love and admire this incredible lady. Her health isn’t great right now and my prayers to get she gets well. 😊🤗
Bless her heart. You can see she's very uncomfortable with this interview. You can see she's still hurting to a degree but she handled this with great poise and grace. Love her x
She was not telling the truth. She was telling her truth. And he, poor stuttering and, does not know how to express himself himself. She a damn mean person. 🐝
@@amandadassonville4043preach my sista only the female feminists and beta male simps who act feminine like women only believe she was a angel she was a devil 👿 rip to both Ike & tiny 🙏🏿💯
4:29 I cannot understand why a team of people and this interviewer thought this was a good thing to do. This moment right here says it all. However, she dealt with it very well and lets just say every one here showed their colours ;) she uplifted everything even surprising the interviewer in a good way as if she brought peace and gratitude to the room via "satellite". What a beautiful soul Tina 🌹
God really can take one of the worst situation of your life and mode it into something beautiful. If you are looking for evidence of God on this earth, here it is.
Ike was a straight up demonic lunatic who let power go to his head. Thank goodness Tina got away from that control freak and all that abusive drama. U go Tina! Proud of u.💝
Tears welling in her eyes. The trauma fear showed on her face every time they played a clip of Ike. She's a smart beautiful, talented, strong, never give up woman. I ♥️her. Ike was a FOOL. He destroyed his own life and any potential success he WOULD HAVE had with Tina... He was a fool.
Saying he didn't BEAT hear. They're both wrong but beating is far more than a hit! I'm sure you know that but when you're biased anything ignorant will appease you.
Tina was not going to be limited or defined by anything. She is and was highly evolved and overcome anything that kept her from getting better, greater. Tina was LOVE
It's not her fault he beat her. It doesn't matter if he was mental, had anxiety or anything. I watched the 'what's love got to do with it' movie and he beat her endlessly and a lot more times than the movie. She loved him and obviously she didn't see a mental person. And I wonder how she did it. Taking all the abuse. I have a lot of respect for her and may God bless her.
It was because back then it was hard for woman to be able to support themselves. The musicians and all them that she worked with were his musicians and he probably made her think she couldn't make it without him. Plus having 4 kids and 2 that weren't hers, she probably didn't want to leave them with him and if she took them with her she had to worry about supporting them along with herself. Im sure the movie is not that off of the real story
@@twila.17 Which she said she knew he did to all of his women! And who said BEAT??? SHE NEVER DID! Physical abuse is horrible, but there is an extreme difference in a hit and beating someone up. Y'all create and exaggerate things (words) that never applied to their story. Typical people. Low, fingers pointers using spells to spew the same evilness they accuse others of. Stop it
What nonsense are you trying to justify, Ike hit her with a shoe stretcher regularly and tried shoving a wooden coat hanger down her throat, does that sound better than a beating?
This is the most uncomfortable thing I e ever watched in my whole 34 years of life. I don’t know how she pulled that off with that cool, calm, collected demeanor. Good for her.
Tina Turner was not a racist: she was very proud of being a black woman. She was proud of where she came from & her success. Ike was just bitter & mentally ill. So sad such a talented man had such a violent temper & bitterness in his heart. He took everything from her money, cars, houses, music rights. He wanted to even take her name from her: but she put her foot down & said "at least let me keep my name: I earned & worked too hard for it." Tina is so gracious, grateful, forgiving, warm & kind. I probably would have put a bullet in Ike's head: if he abused me like that. Tina is a better woman than I would have been.❤❤❤❤
I love her life story. Its like the human version of a lotus flower. *referenced from the beginning of the movie "The thicker the mud, the more it blossoms. Her come back in 80s was JUST THAT! She got bigger and bigger! I love her!
No one deservers to be beaten like she was. Especially from a coke head like him,she was the money maker, not him. You only have to see now who has the best career
