very good video! a tall cylindrical tank would be a great additon to your shop to explain some of the techniques and give a better visual understanding , but still an awesome job you do overall , in trying to really help people , you are one of the top 10 most helpful pro bass fisherman out there, its always amazes me how helpful some of you are!

Power minnows are my favorite plastic for drop shotting, Berkeley Realistix are pretty incredible for finesse especially in clear water

Nice little deal Right there Ike! I would tie it on with a loop knot, like I do with my crappie jigs.. This allows it to have a nicer action on the jig and twitch, and always presents the bait in a natural horizontal position. Unlike tying your normal knots tight to the eye and after you catch a fish or something that makes your bait stand nose up vertically, then you have to adjust your bait/knot to get it horizontal again. With the loop knot, you never have to worry about all that .

@@stevecomerford8681 I suppose you could, but I personally wouldn't do so. I think that less is more in this situation. Why overcomplicate things with extra parts, knots(possible fail points), places for grass and stuff to grab and foul things up, added weight could hinder the action and presentation, etc. I'm not sure I can see any benefits of using the swivel over a simple loop knot but I could be wrong. It's really a matter of personal preference and what you're confident with. It's good to experiment and find out what works best for you're style of fishing. Some things won't work so well, and the things that do work for you teach valuable lessons and build confidence knowing what you're throwing does and will work for you. I believe mindset and confidence have a huge impact on our level of success while fishing. (My apologies for the long winded reply)

Commonly called the hover rig… or hover strolling.. there is a company that makes the 90deg hook with the weight poured onto the hook so no more need for nail weights! thanks for sharing mike! Keep up the great 2023 season!

It's similar to the Dimiki Rig, and I've used that rig successfully as deep as 70ft for Largemouth on Table Rock lake.

If your fishing around cover you can use a neko setup with a minow bait and get a very similar action. Snag'less dangle!

at 8:10 bro it looked like a bottom feeding minnow picking up bits off the bottom that's a very natural thing. Will have to give this a go. how about mid body weighting this to keep the tail low and fish it over grass beds to simulate fish picking things off the surface you could jig the rod tip upwards

I was thinking the same thing....I have fish tanks and my little fish do that all the time. Even goldfish do this. Bait fish and small fish are almost always foraging around and eating everything

Why not just use a center-balanced jighead like a bullet or H-style head?? We use them for walleye a lot with a fluke and they have the action you describe. Out and up on the stroke then a long wide spiral down. Hangs horizontally. These nail weights seem so light that you'd have to fish these tediously slowly.
