Is it impossible to break if you try open it hard?

@@oon5542 no, it's a VERY low security lock. the body is plastic and the locking bolt is pretty small, with enough force you could break it

@@oon5542 Do you think it's indestructable lol? It's a thin zinc dead bolt, if you are strong you can break it. I'm not saying you could just give it a small tug and break it, but it is certainly not impervious to damage lol

@@froot2912 You have one of those? I’ll get it and try breaking it as hard as i can, i’ve asked people who already own that one and they told me it is impossible to breake for an average person strenght

@@oon5542 yes, it’s particle wood, your only locking it to keep the wee ones from exploring or opening doors they shouldn’t a thief or someone who really wants to get in can and will.

@@user-hn9os6fk9t Did you watch the video? He installs a RFID lock. That same lock can be moved to the back of the drawer and the RF card would still work.

They actually have the black/dark brown tone over in europe at some places.

It makes a sound when the batteries need to be replaced. Just like your smoke alarm does.

@@28Justchecking I think the batteries last about a year. At that point it will start making a noise to let you know that it needs replacing, just like your smoke alarm does. Usually when I place batteries in these things I use fresh ones (not like the dubious ones for my mouse say, since if it gives out I'd be the first to know about it). Then I do mark it on my Google calendar to check about it in about a 11 months to a year. Even though the battery might still be good, I replace it with fresh ones again, and store the "used" ones in a box for... my computer mouse, or things like that. :) The lock thing works really well, and can be configured one way or the other to almost anything!

Perhaps use a small “L” bracket instead of drilling a hole. Mount it with a single screw.

I was only able to install a lock on the top drawer. On the side drawers there isn't a place for the small deadbolt.

yes, it's made for it.

It's pretty sturdy but if someone really wanted to get into it, I'm sure they could. If I were to keep a pistol in the drawer, I would get a small biometric safe myself.

Dawson Duguid My idea was to buy the “Bekant storage unit with smart lock” and put my pistol in small gun safe and place it in the bottom drawer.

I’m not sure on that one. Check with the manufacturer the lock.

I used the long screws included with the lock. IKEA sends 3-4 different types of screws for different kinds of wood.

If it needs secure storage, get something stronger than an inexpensive particleboard set of drawers.

theresonly 2genders It takes something close to a year of use. It makes a chirping sound to alert you when the batteries (AA I think) are about out to die

If the batteries are low than the lock will beep periodically. When the batteries are empty, the lock will automatically unlock it self.

I don’t think it’s strong enough to hold a door in place, but it’s worked well for me on this drawer
