The thing that really confused me was the poster in the store, it said "FREKVENS" on top but below it said "No WiFi, no worries", you can see it at about 2:28 I mean this thing totally works with bluetooth ok so no WiFi is needed but BT and WiFi are technically about the same thing so if you are worried about WiFi you should be worried about BT as well. Maybe that's what they want to address with the "tin foil clothing" ... hmmm? I don't know, it's weird just like the whole Frekvens line seems to be ;-)
@OmairArif
@OmairArif 4 года назад
@@TheNightstalker80 I think the "No Wifi, no worries" is to promote the fact that it is bluetooth, and you can therefore use it anywhere, not just at home. Which is the opposite of the Ikea SYMFONISK speakers, which due to the collaboration with Sonos, are Wifi only.

Teenage engineering? Well ... at 69 years of age, I'm thinking it's for me too. Maybe it's time finally ... to get just a bit weird as well. So thanks for the tip off Stu. I'm off right now to IKEA to buy a totally bizarre collection of stuff I never knew I needed. I mean, I'm kind of fed up of going to IKEA just to buy yet another Billy bookcase module. Oh and eat some meatballs. With Lingonberry jam. Of course. Wife will be wondering WTF when I arrive back home of course. But hey ... I'm thinking it's never too late to fulfil her suspicions that I've finally lost it. And a great opportunity to fill our home with some totally pointless audio shit at the same time! And yes, the metal effect hoodie jacket is a must.

Teenage engineering are known for the one and only OP-1 synth/4track recorder/idea generator. It’s literally one of a kind and I can’t think anything has come out with that is anything close to it. It’s rather expensive, but the quality and what you get in a tiny tiny package is amazing, although limiting at the same time. And I love their design language as well, very Braun/bang&olufsen design that’s retro and minimalist. They also make tiny little drum machines/ synths that are cheap and the size of a calculator.

Teenage Engineering makes music instruments that also don't make a whole lot of sense to a lot of people. A lot of compromises are made to make them unnecessarily compact and they're véry expensive. I do like these speakers, but they're so limited you can't order them and only 1 store in my country has them. I'm not traveling a whole afternoon just to try these because they look kinda neat. But that's okay, by the time most people have heard of these they will be sold out and Ikea will have had some free advertisement on RU-vid from reviewers. Same happened with some other collabs.

Is it possible to use the led panel as a standalone unit, without any speaker? I'd use it as a decorative item!

Looks freakishly cool but think that spot light would annoy me after 30 seconds, plus it sticks out too much. I’d keep the light display though maybe

Remember when TE made awesome synthesizers with build in sequencer and tape recorder? Pepperidge Farm remembers... But seriously... They've turned into Apple and it really saddens me. We have a saying in Germany: "Shoemaker, stay with your shoe lasts." I was so disappointed when they revealed the OP-Z instead of a new OP-1, their POs are just toys and now they collaborate with Ikea instead of doing what they do best, small form factor synths.

Ikea shut down ops in US, no delivery even. Now everyone selling these on eBay for 2x - 3x. I even see people selling a set of them for $2,000. Sucks.

Heck, I'd like just the little visualizer box on it's own. =)

No you were correct the first time, the pronouncement is much closer to frekvens as you said it rather than vrekvens, even though it isn’t 100% spot on, its close!
