Greetings from Hungary, I have been renovating for sale my house and this was very useful for me. As a woman (half profession is technical foreign trade executive) I was raised up by my father and mother to do and to take part in everything around and in the house where I was brought up. This is why so hard to me as for a woman to understand the silly, the toad men..terrible how stupid they are and how they think too much about the "male" sex however we women are very clever and smart....that is also the part of why a clever, smart and educated woman do not find a man for a husband...terrible. I like this video very much, that is how a man must show his work...and I do hope a lot of girls and women are watchig this video....if I were not a smart woman I would have paid so so many money..that would have been nothing else than stealing from the citizens...sorry to be honest and thanks again...

I want to use the same IKEA system for wall hung units. I have metal studs so I cannot use them to hang the rail on them. Do you trust those wall anchors to hold the weight of the cabinets and the stuff inside? How many wall anchors do you use per metre? I could not find any official "max load" for those anchors.

It is better to follow the IKEA instructions for up-righting the cabinets, it avoids the legs being forced off. The slotted angle plates for securing the suspension rail should be installed as shown in IKEA's instructions to provide a much stronger support. They will then provide some adjustment for inaccurate hole position. The video work was good.

Ikea instructions say metal brackets/washer should be horizontal not vertical.

Yes. The angled slit allows you to adjust the height of the rail slightly if needed for tightening the screw.

It depends on what you are securing to, if it's going into a wooden joist then look at the distance from the wall (ie thickness of bracket) and then add 40-50mm to go into the wood. If it's a masonry wall then the brick will be 100mm thick so I like to go about 60-80mm deep, so get a plug that depth (8mm plug is ideal) the screw needs to be that length plus the thickness of the bracket etc. A decent size had on the screw too, about a 5 (UK size). If using plasterboard anchors like he used in some places then they come as a kit so you can't go wrong.

Sam Elliott Don’t remember exact measurements but you have to consider height of the top kitchen units safe height from the cooker and where is your wires to connect the extractor.

So they come with no service void for pipe work to run behind (between wall and cabinets) ??

M.A.N - No service void is a very poor design. If you need to scribe the units to a wall that is not level or uneven then you can't cut any more than 5mm off, if you bring them out from the wall then the worktop and end panels may not be deep enough to cover the gap either. IKEA kitchens are cheap for a reason, they are bargain basement quality and a nightmare to install unless your house is perfectly square and level and you don't want to run anything behind the units.

@@freeranger1677 The service void is underneath the cabinet where the legs are. The 1 cm gap at the back of a base unit is just enough to drop 2.5 mmT&E electricity cables. Just chase the plaster to duck the T & E under the rail. IKEA instructions show uneven walls being straightened before mounting the rail. You are not supposed to bend the rail to follow an uneven surface. Cut a fillet to fill the gap. The suspension rail system is easier, quicker, cheaper and more accurate than the best alternative wall mount system "Koala", it avoids adjustment. However you do need to be able to use a tape to measure mounting position if the wall cab bottom edge must rest on an existing tile line. This is omitted from the IKEA instructions. IKEA's short fixing spacing is probably for people who know nothing about stud spacing. I'd prefer one fix in a stud to two anchors in plasterboard. IKEA instructions can be confusing and with too small illustrations however, once you have done one cabinet life is easy.

@@tryagain.k1821 - As a kitchen fitter I have installed many kitchens. there is good reason for a large service gap on ALL other kitchen suppliers. some old walls can be inches out of level, straightening them costs the customer much more money or I lose money on a priced job. Some kitchens have boilers above the worktop with pipes coming up the wall. With no service gap these pipes would have to be moved at considerable cost. The only time IKEA kitchens are worth buying is for a perfect straight and level house with no services behind the units, in the real world these are very rare.

It's easy if you put the rail first top first then bottom then assemble and install the wall cabinet first then Base cabinets and if you make hole for the electrical or water pipe or gas make only exact hole don't cut the whole backboard it's not good to see if you cut the the whole backboard

1:08 the bottom of the cabinet comes cut out from the factory. Why is that? It's very annoying! Why would Ikea cut out such a large hole on the bottom of the cabinet?

these holes are for the pipes of the washingmachine or dishwasher. This cabinet is also for the oven. With the hole you can easily pull through the oven cable

Bad advice all along. The rails need to be fixed to studs, plasterboard will just break no matter what plug and screw is used. That water level is way too small for this job, and even on that tiny thing it can be seen that the rail is not straight. The cabinet frames should be screwed together through the sides. Cutting that much off of the back of the cabinet, might as well have left the back out. Why not use cross braces instead?

you could have cut a smaller hole for the pipe. Why are u using so many wall plugs. Showed try to anchor to the studs if possible

In my case the studs are at 60cm centres. Ikea states maximum distance between fixing screws is 30cm, so I had to install rawl plugs, using the same tool demonstrated in this video. the Metod cabinet supports a microwave, so I wasn't taking chances with drywall plugs.
