I'd love to see some home automation vids!

Awesome job! I recently found your videos and I like a lot of the stuff you do. I learned more about LEDs from your videos then like 4 days of pouring over webpages. I would love to see how to hook up a bunch of things with bluetooth and have them all synced. Awesome work man and keep it up!

Really cool and inspirational! I'm trying to learn more about smart lights and home automation and stuff and your videos have been helpful... 😄

I'm kind of surprised this worked so easily. Really cool that it did though! Like, what if the LEDs for the lamp had been a different protocol than what the controller was programmed for. What if the same voltages weren't supported by the board? But still, super cool this worked and keep making these great videos!

Yeah, it's very simple, in a good way - the LEDs aren't digital so there's no protocols to adhere to! Which is fine, IMO - high voltage non addressable LEDs are much brighter!

Oh wow! Yeah that does make it a lot simpler! Great project 😀

Love this! Thanks for all your content, what i would really like is exactly this but also be able to have a normal switch also so if someone didnt have their phone they could just turn it on normally! (I inderstand you wont be able to change the colour) Is that possible?

Is it Home Assistant compatible?

The WiFi dongle? Yes it is. I am using home assistant to have the head show the battery charge of my quest 3.

Any reason you're running openhab as opposed to home assistant?
@Zibartas
@Zibartas 2 года назад
I just used it since version 1, so I have a lot of rules and custom scripting done already :D Do you prefer Home Assistant?

Zibartas oh my globs, YES! So many integrations, and super easy automations/scenes etc. I'm also certain you'll love the esphome integration! Do yourself a favor, and chuck it on a spare raspberry pi, if you've got one! I can completely understand, if you're already committed to one environment, but just going by what I've gleamed about you through your videos (yay parasocial weirdness!), I think you'd actually enjoy the project :)

@@endthefighting Interesting! There are a lot of integrations developed for openHAB too... Though I am kinda weary of the newest versions - it's completely unlike the previous ones. That's why I'm more open minded to switching (now more than ever) :D Are there any limitations or some things you wish you knew before you started using it?

@@Zibartas Ok, really weird - I had a huge comment written in reply yesterday, but now it's been deleted somehow o_O It was something along the way of trying to keep as many of your devices "off-cloud" as possible, by e.g. using LocalTuya instead of Tuya, flashing esphome or Tasmota on anything you can, and so forth. I also guess another thing to keep in mind is your installation method. I started by running Home Assistant in a docker, but I'm now running Home Assistant OS on a dedicated Pi4B+ 4GB ram.
