The reason Ikkaku hides his is because if it was known that Ikkaku had achieved bankai then he would be pressured from within and outside of Squad 11 to become a captain himself. It's even more relevant now that there are three captain slots empty because of Azien's betrayal.

He also didn't want Kenpachi to know he got Bankai before him because he thinks it would be disrespectful.

Knowing bankai doesn’t automatically make you a captain, I think he wants to show kenpachi that he can also fight and win without bankai, since kenpachi himself doesn’t know it.

@It Is I Sure. I'm just thinking of all the reasons for which he might not be willing to give Rukia credit for her achievement. The weird thing with Di Roy here is that Pat downplays her victory, based on Di Roy's number (which he couldn't have properly understood by that episode, since it wasn't clarified yet), and the fact the rest of those Arrancar basically said Di Roy was the weakest of their group. While that may be true, that by itself doesn't say anything about how strong Di Roy is compared to soul reapers in general. They also didn't have an accurate frame of reference for Rukia's strength level prior to this fight, due to the fact that she didn't have most of her powers until now. The most accurate frame of reference for Rukia's strength level at this point, would be the fact that she easily destroyed an opponent that would have easily destroyed Chad, which would suggest that Rukia is stronger than Chad (at least in power level/spiritual pressure). But I guess it somehow doesn't matter that Rukia defeated a relatively powerful opponent who was weaker than her. There's also the fact that she arguably saved at least one person, since Di Roy may have successfully killed at least one or two of Ichigo's friends, had he not been stopped. But I guess preventing the loss of life doesn't matter either.

@@FajarRamadhan-ro9gr I haven't read the manga, but from what I've gathered, she pretty much has the same bankai as Yamamoto only replace the fire with white Haze and she can't raise the dead. They even have the same drawbacks of themselves being effected by the Bankai and under a time limit before they kill themselves. And they have the same power of if you touch them while their bankai is active, you seemingly auto die. If Rukia trained and gained experience over many years like him, I don't see a reason why she wouldn't be just as powerful. He can burn everything in the universe by becoming as hot as the sun, she could potentially freeze everything in the universe by becoming as cold as absolute zero. She has a strong bankai because it's so similar to the guy that some would say has the strongest. Now she just needs experience like him.

I believe at this point in the story in the entire 11 Squad, which is the Fighting Fanatic squad of maximum combat level Ikkaku is the only one with Bankai.

Her fight with espada 9 is armor plot. Rest of the time she is acting cocky and has power level similar to Chad's.

Sadly we don’t learn how her sword actually works until the final arc of the manga. But it made me love her wayyyy more.
