There's so much this sim offers that the new IL-2 and DCS just don't offer, i'll take a graphics hit any day for the immersion/detail/versatility of 1946
Because I don't have to bust my wallet in 1946 and i can fight a ww1 biplane with a f16, more arcady and although you need keybinds it technically is full fedelty with a cockpit, I only play dcs with a mil mi 8.
'46 is such a great sim, nice to see you guys keeping it alive. So much history in the liveries, nowhere else can you fly a Zero, Oscar, or Betty from a carrier in Kido Butai for the Emperor!
We really need a current sim for the pacific. IL2 1946 was superb and still holds up well, our squad made and flew countless missions with it including Midway and Pearl Harbor. Great sim with a great mission builder. After the addition of the Zuti mod with either the HSFX or UP3.0 updgrade this sim is next level.
Yes absolutely! Our only hope would be a new IL-2 Great Battles expansion in the Pacific but the devs said that they're still struggling with getting carriers to work so not anytime soon...
Combat Pilot was just announced a week ago! Definitely check it out. Still in its early days of development but very much looking forward to its release
I was going to take part in the event but unfortunately before the event started my game started crashing and I had to reinstall everything. Hope it was fun for those who were in it though!

i miss 1946 are servers still alive? best online events back on 2012... its better than todays sims cause you just sit in take off and fly...no study pain of the ass thing...simple balanced fun with realism...
Sometimes there are still people through the Hyperlobby application, but few and far in between. This was a one off event from the discord server in the description.
There are some players on Hyperlobby every now and again and Enigma's Server (see the description) will host some 1946 events in the future. So it's not dead yet!
This is simply the standard game on the highest settings and 1920x1080 resolution and the HSFX mod, which doesn't include much in the way of graphics upgrades.
1946 already includes the Pacific maps. If you go to quick mission builder, you can choose maps like Midway and Pacific Islands in the bottom right. There are also a bunch if single missions or pilot careers there if you select USA (USN) or Japan as an air force for example.
@@schnitzelmandownbadfrfr3778 go to controls/keys Klick on the keybind you want to change, empty the field and then press the new key, press apply. I think that's the way. It's really straight forward once you find the keybind menu
Is the server you guys played on is that still occasionally used If so, can I get the server address? And if you'll use any mods, may I get a link to them as well please?
Apparently my discord push to talk button was also the standard keybinding for the tailwheel in 1946, so every time I talked it would lock/unlock until I fixed it 🤦♂️
