without a joystick, playing WarThunder sim is like putting a cucumber up your butt, the controls seem to lose their physics, can't even do an Immelman, which is an imp move in 109s to take the battle to verticals, thereby greatly favouring allied planes
There's sooooo much to learn about this game but once you get the basic controls set up it's so much fun to just fly around and do whatever for practice or just for fun lol and with head tracking omg it's amazing. Thank you for the tips :D
Honestly if I was you I would start switching my content towards IL2, there is so much to do and also war thunder is so broken at the moment, keep up the good work 👍
No, if I was him I’d keep doing all the War Thunder content. Already nobody cares about War Thunder Sim due to its 1rst person perspective and lack of mouse aim; so doing Il2 sim will bring him even less audience. IMO he should start playing WT realistic as there’s just no audience for sim.
@@user-hh5pj5jv8p No war thunder in general is starting to die in the long term where as IL2 has loads of potential. If you had been watching tea Rex for a while you would know that he is a sim player, he plays mostly with a joystick.
@@gustiner3276 oh yea WT is definitely dying in the long term but it’s extremely slow and you actually see player numbers and audience are stagnating, but not in any decrease. With Il2 it’s a case of stagnation too but on even less audience, no potential due to its complexity and sim oriented gameplay; just not fun for somebody looking for an action packed plane mmo/ general audience.
Perfect timing I recently dipped my toe into air sim in War Thunder and loved it knew about IL-2 so I bought it but was worried I bit off more I could chew becoming slightly overwhelmed with all the controls but your video helped immensely thank you!
Wow! Brought me back to the days where I did my first flight in IL2. An old wingmaster stick and an Acer pc! We played for 12 years as the same squadron. AVG Flying Tigers. Started out as the 4th fight group. Really miss it! No common ground nowadays with flying and a good bunch of mates. Especially with shit thunder online now.
@Captain Beano Yeah, if you dont mind your wing snapping off from inaccurately modeled accelerated stalls and a complete lack of historicaly accurate 150 octane fuel. Otherwise it's my favorite plane.
Wow! Best introduction to a game I've watched in years! Thanks for this excellently scripted tutorial. I just purchased the game because of your video.
This game is really fun for a sim. I'm not saying Sims aren't fun of course they are. However I find this game just has something magical about it that I haven't felt since playing red baron lol.
Great content for a day 1 noob like me. I have a little experience with MSFS2020, WT, Rise of Flight and DCS World but this was a great kickstart. Looking forward to watching more. Liked and subbed.
Thank you!! Ever since the first MMO - Air Warrior - was shut down by EA at the turn of the century I've played other MMOs. But they're forced labor camps. You must perform all sorts of menial labor to get to the game. And they tend to focus on PvE, allowing the PvP to rot in neglect. Tried WT but it was...well...silly. Want to try this but I couldn't even take off on my first try. I have lots of time in real high performance taildraggers but IL-2's ground handling was utterly bizarre with torque and P-Factor kicking in wildly at low RPM. So, I found this video and will give it another try 😂
great video- bit gutted you never followed it up with a second episode (couldnt find #2 anywhere on your channel) this game has potential but is very frustrating to learn i feel. Thanks for the content!
Thanks for the video! I've flown a good amount of sim battles on War Thunder before, but seeing how the mode has changed recently (and even more for VR users) I guess I'll have to play more IL-2, which I barely touched and is collecting dust in my game library... Hope to see you in the skies soon! :)
Hello Sir #watched your education video of Sturmuvik flight. I play #GunshipSequalWW2 simulator, on Android OS. Indeed the game is loaded with German, Soviet, American, United Kingdom, Japanese planes. Thank you for this video. Sims are different but flight maneuvers and tactics are similar
As someone who came from sim racing, I like to think of the three main combat flight simulators like this: War Thunder sim is like Gran Turismo, IL2 is like Assetto Corsa, and DCS is like iRacing.
Great training video! I’m not sure if all planes are the same in this regard, but the P-38 trim bindings require setting both the axis and non-axis bindings to the same key. Wish there was some instruction as I wanted an hour figuring this out.
Excellent video, looking forward to future installments. I've got a few hundred hours in the sim at this point and just bought it for my 11 year-old nephew. If you're looking for content ideas focused on new players, I'd say my biggest concern with my nephew is that he's got my old Oculus CV-1 VR gear but only a logitech 3d pro joystick with a paltry 12 buttons. It's very likely he'll bounce off the game unless I can come up with something workable where he doesn't have to constantly hunt for keyboard keys that he can't see. I'm going to investigate maybe using a gamepad as a way to control rads, mixture, lights, etc. Haven't found anything along these lines on youtube yet so it's definitely not a well-served concern.
When I had a 3d pro, I used a program called JoyToKey. I used it to turn one of my buttons into the 'shift' key, and then I did Shift+button3 etc to set up extra controls. IL2 is pretty heavy with the buttons, but I hope that helps!
Been playing for awhile, but you can always learn something new by going back to square one. Want to know the weather? Look out the door. Kinda seems obvious, come to think of it. . .
For those who want to fly in a realistic way, IL-2 Sturmovik is the best flight simulator after the professional ones. The avionics and aerodynamics and ballistic physics are excellent. For those who want to play in help mode, there is WT and the like. Only Cliff of Dover surpasses IL-2, because there the engine management is very difficult and requires a thorough study, otherwise the engine will abandon you in the middle of the engagement.
interesting to see what the beginner tutorials for a game ive played for years looks like also, best beginner plane i would say is the 109g2, really hard to blow its engine for even complete beginners, unlike the f4
I love Il2 the only thing i wish they would implement is realistic startup and management of engines as well as adding bombers like the iconic 4 engine b17.
There is 1 thing every beginner fighting AI should know. When completely defensive and you want to run, fly tree top level the AI cannot follow you there and shoot at you.
Great video man. Is there anyway to get the head movement like you do, but without track ir or other similar head tracker systems? I currently just use the a console type mini stick on top of the joystick and it only gives direct view angles in 45 degree increments (can't even look directly up). The lack of head movement makes me keep the HUD and plane indicators etc on, mainly because I'm not able to properly look around at all, at least like i see how all the track ir guys doing on videos on YT. Maybe i should just but the bullet at get it lol. Keep up the good work sir!
Yeah its pretty difficult to get smooth head movement without an IR headtracker or a VR headset sadly. Thankfully there are some very effective low budget DIY setups you can find online :)
For some reason the rudder does nothing for me no matter what I bind it to This is only after I plugged in a joystick after playing half a year with mouse
Too late already switched to IL-2 before your video came out ;) Still get likes and subscribes cause obviously let's all migrate to IL-2! See you in the skies.
8:42 the green notifications on the right side of the screen, like the one that shows the mixture percentage or throttle setting. how do you turn those on and off, those randomly turned off for no reason in the middle of a mission. and I need it because I'm using a Xbox controller
I really like the idea of playing combat Sims but don't have the time for the 2 hour games in war thunder. How long do the different types of games last in IL 2 and can you save / pause in the offline games?
Is it possible to play it using a ps5 controller, both the single player and the multiplayer mode? I am planning to buy one to play other games as well.
I bought this game like 3 years ago, truned it on, got confused, and never played again, now I'm watching it to learn something so money that I spent on this game won't go to waste, ans also I'm bored looking for something to play
I've got a fuzzy black bar code looking line running down the center of every plane I fly in this game. I can't get rid of it no matter what I do. I thought it was a 3D/VR type thing but that's turned off.
Is there a way to practise against "fixed" AI? With fixed I mean enemies that won't have unlimited energy or keep extreme tight turns unrealisticly compared to multiplayer matches.
