Great Sim with Great visuals and awesome audio gun/special effects not to mention the fantastic damage model, its also pretty refreshing to have AI who don't just roll over and die, great stuff.
@@STASHYNSKYI it is called IL-2 cause it was supposed to be the next gen WW2 sim developed by the same people that developed original IL2 that was released in 2001. The released BoB first and planned to add eastern front and the titular IL2 in the expansions. The reality was that some development issues happened the studio went bust and the game is now maintained by a group of modders that came together under the team fusion banner to fix the game and create new content.
Thanks for creating your first impressions video GS. We are very proud of the improvements we have made to Cliffs of Dover and creating the recently released Desert Wings Tobruk expansion. Great to read so many positive comments and over 1000+ likes within hours of this release. For those who buy the sim based on your video, we hope you enjoy a fantastic flight sim, that not only has stood the test of time, but have has been improved on over the years. Here's to many more. Cheers, Pattle.
thank you brother you guys did a great job with this sim and I love the opportunity to shine a light on your guy's hard work. I wish you guys continued success in the future.
@@kolonellion2999 Thanks Kolonel. I'm lucky enough to be on the shiny end of TFS showing the great works of the TFS team. A very dedicated and talented bunch of guys.
How is he a "creator" when all he does is record videos reacting to games other people made?? Even the soundtracks he uses on his videos are created by others. He is the definition of a *parasite*!! It's a sick joke he even has merch which is literally benefitting off the backs of other people when he never "created" anything unique himself.
@@user-nx9dv3fp6x Are you saying someone else is flying this plane and he didn’t record it with ShadowPlay or OBS? If so, do you have the original flight video that he stole from?
Great review! I made the D.520, Beaufighter, Bf-109/trop and Tomahawk/Kittyhawk campaigns for _Tobruk_ as well as 12 of the single missions. You're spot-on when you say it was a passion project for us - my interest in WWII aviation started from going to the Australian War Memorial and watching _Battle of Britain_ as a kid, so I always wanted an amazing Battle of Britain game. CloD's unfortunate state when it was first released sadly defined it for years, so it was a dream come true to not only work on improving the base game but also add Tobruk (where my Somme veteran great-grandfather fought) and some of the Battle of France. I never thought I'd get this opportunity, much less at this age (I'm 21).
Great words, mate! We really do it for the love we have for that masterpiece Oleg Maddox released many years ago. We are certainly keeping the dream alive! ;)
Love Oleg great guy we exchanged emails a few times briefly even though I was just a fan of the sim with just enthusiasm to offer. Not many developers like him in the world. 😊
Which is a pity because it has some amazingly atmospheric combat to offer. I really recommend trying out the TWC Campaign Server which runs a dynamic 24/7 online campaign with strategic targets, aircraft supply chains, etc.
I’ll probably never play any of these games, but I love military planes. You have a fantastic channel that’s entertaining and educational! Keep up the great work. 👍
@@IsraeliDino entry cost is steep if you want to do it right. I downloaded BoS and tried to pick it up with just the keyboard on my laptop, but it doesn't have nearly enough functionality and I can't afford the sticks and throttles.
@@lwrncschmchr my thrustmaster hotas costed 60€. i rarely play sim and only war thunder if i do but i have tried dcs and it works well for flying around although looking around is very hard.
Very excited to play this game! My Grandfather flew p40s over North Africa. In addition to downing 1.5 Ju88s, his great claim to fame was having be shot down by Hans Joachim Marseille in a BF109. Unlike Marseille he survived the war.
Tobruk has the Martlet Mk.III which was the name given to F4F-3A aircraft taken over from a Greek order. They had no naval equipment so could only be operated from land bases. Saw action in RAF service in the western desert.
PLEASE do more WW2 videos. I don't care whether you do them in IL-2 or DCS, just do them. You seem to be the only one out there that gives the same informative, calm, unbiased narration of your dogfights, whether you win or lose. Very much enjoy your videos. Keep up the good work.
@@SerbianDingo it depends on which 109 you are talking about, some of them are more sleek than others. But yeah I get what your saying. I also enjoy the spit.
I grabbed this early on. It is a nice change of scenery from BoX series. I really do like the selection of aircraft too. The functional cockpit is really cool and the detailed damage model is the cat's ass. Just the one thing it needs is VR support. I thought I remembered reading that they intend to implement it at some point, but I'm not sure. But I've been almost completely spoiled in BoX, Tank Crew, and FC with VR. So darn hard to go back to a flat screen now. Heck, I flew the crap out of RoF. Absolutely adore that game, but kind of neglect it now due to the lack of VR, lol.
I'm happy to see you enjoying Il2. I've been around Il2 since the original demo back in 2001. It's one of the few games/sims that has always stayed on my hard drive all these years
My father set up two PC’s with the OG sturmovik and we used to dogfight one another in the same room. This game has been great for at least two decades. Never mind the map editor ☝🏻
I love the voices they programmed you can hear when you shoot a plane down from both perspectives; celebration from the victor and frantic screams from the doomed.
@@izard8207 Yes! A desert version and a temperate as well! And the Gladiator II as well! Both with clickable interactive cockpits. Biplanes are so satisfying! :D
@@izard8207 Oh and the Falco can carry bombs! ;) Go to the IL2 forum and look at the "Cliffs of Dover" tab. Lots of Italian pilots and events for those birds! There's a BR20 bomber flyable and interactive as well and a G50.
I loved watching this video as always GS. Great content. You mention the 1930’s biplanes... Sadly, buddy, us Brits fought with those in WW2! They’re called Gloster Gladiators. Three very famous examples were ‘Faith’, ‘Hope’ and ‘Charity’ and were all that we had available to hold off the Axis powers in Malta, summer 1940!
Different team made clod, abandoned it. A mod team picked it up and the great battles team bought the source code and rights and handed it all to the mod team to develop.
Hey man just hoping you’ll see this you’ve made my days so much better ever since June last year when I got diagnosed with type one diabetes and it’s been a challenge coping with it but your videos have made it easier as I’ve found this game really fun and has gotten me somthing to do but my computer is slow so it doesn’t run But thank you so much man ❤️ btw I was 12 last year .
This sim is almost 10 years old now, only become playable with latest team fusion patches. When i bought this sim in 2011 it was a complete disaster, so many things missing and bugs
@@KarayaYT But still with some bugs... I can overlook them, but others may get a bit upset about this. The interface is still not beginner friendly and you don't have a stat, which shows you how much ground objects you have destroyed. I love this sim, but TF has still allot to do.
@Godjrah it's all relative man. If you've a lot of experience playing flight sims over many hours you should be able to play it on a keyboard atleast competently. Your not actively learning to fly like he may be. If you don't play flight sims landing alone is fucking hard no matter what you play it on lol
bruh at first i thought the new il2 only had the aircraft that you showcased holy shit now i see why its so exspensive i need to cop this game when i get a more powerful pc im currently play il2 1946 bat mod with a ryzen 5 laptop rn
Glad you got into this game. My only gripe is not having enough players. This game is pure skill at its finest with dogfights. Know your strengths and play to them. If you don’t you’re dead.
yea I'm play this game too but tis Ais is when they in a blenheim they doing some fighter manouvers and when they dropped they bombs like you just going to you airfield looking to your six'o clock and you see a blenheimn 4 on your six
Flanker (way before DCS) and IL-2 used to be my favourite flight sims about 15 years ago. IL-2 has some other packages with end of WW-2 german planes, like the ME-262 and some exotic ones. Good to see it still is a great game! Try to get Longshot in on it too and do some Spitfire v/s BF-109 ...
Blitz and Tobruk compared to the original Cliffs of Dover is night and day... I played a bit of the original and, it was buggy and laggy to say the least, and didn't look half as good as this. Thanks to the Team Fusion team we finally have a worthy successor to IL-2 1946, and honestly, I actually like this a little bit better than Great Battles/BoS One thing I really appreciate is how the UI and customization clearly take after 1946 far more than Great Battles... one thing that really bugs me about that game is that there aren't dynamic markings, so you get entire formations of the exact same plane which isn't realistic. Radio commands are also straight up lifted from 1946, which is honestly way better than Great Battles - communicating with the ground and with your wingmen works exactly the way it does in 1946, which is to say, it is a lot more robust and user friendly than the radio in BOS. Basically what you're getting is a game that has all of the graphical fidelity of IL-2 Great Battles or DCS World, with all of the UI and modularity of 1946, essentially making it the perfect IL-2 game... And all of this I got for 47 bucks Canadian, or, less than the price of a Battle of Stalingrad module with less than half the content, and half of a DCS one which usually only contain one vehicle... with two full maps, dozens of aircraft, and again, the best visuals in the series. And did I mention ALL of that runs at 60 fps on my shit rig from 2013... while steaming youtube videos? _Why is this game a 60% on steam???_
Growling on the flight line staring at his BF-109, Ummm Hans! Were the hades are my Fox-Two's??? you now like Sidewinders!! Hans stares at Growling. Was ist das mine leader???
@@-Zevin- Time dilation happens all the time in this game, especially for VR users. I am only running a rift s with an i7-9750h and rtx 2070 so my system is legitimate. In Cliffs I get like a zillion FPS and no time dilation (slow motion) in combat. GB has a frametime issue even on the newest systems in heavily loaded SP scenarios.
The sim looks great. I agree the battle damage is great. Also, I think I prefer WWII dogfights due to the more "organic" simplicity and dynamics over jet aircraft. Very different gameplay, but sometimes it's just fun to only worry about guns.
And Cliffs engine has plane internals also modeled and texturized (all bullet reactive) which adds more satisfaction to dismantle those birds with cannon fire. :D
@@danperin Cliffs DM is astounding. GB is a joke in comparison. I do think GB fms are much better though as Cliffs planes feel more generic while GB planes all feel very unique.
They need more desert maps. Hell, games need more of the Africa/Italy campaign in general. Battles like El Alamein, Tobruk and Monte Cassino are so rare in games.
Beta testing of VR implementation, and 4K landscape/aircraft textures, TrueSky weather/clouds is now in progress using members of the public as testers (selection is now over; testing is confined to those who already applied).
The original IL2 came out in 2000 (or 2001?) for PC. It was updated for a few years, I think the final version of the original game was released in around 06. You can still get that one today. Around then they also came out with a console spinoff, I think it was called IL2 Birds of Prey for the PS3 and Xbox. Don't know about a PS2 game though. That game was from a different developer and was much more arcadey. It eventually became the basis for War Thunder. This game (Cliffs of Dover) came out in 2011. It has since been abandoned and then resurrected by Team Fusion. In 2013 IL2 Battle of Stalingrad came out, this is the newest and most popular version and it has multiple expansions (Battle of _____).
@@Cybermat47 Good stuff! I will buy it when you do. Also, please natively support canted display HMDs like Pimax (and Index). Otherwise we get terrible FPS due to having to use the Parallel Projection option in PiTool.
I was a big fan of IL-2 of 2000 era. I was unstoppable in a Ki-84. Did you ever fly the sim Jane’s World War II Fighters 1998? That AI I. That sim was a great shot! You had to jink on a merge with them because they’d hit you on a head on pass every time.
