I love the make up. It’s good on my skin. I’m an older woman over 60 and it doesn’t get into creases or lines and the color works very well for me. I think you look great too so I can’t see you up close and in person to see exactly what you’re talking about but in the video you look wonderful.

I just tried this product today, Im 46 and have the same feeling. It really shows off any flaws you have, have a lovely scar above my lip and this foundation just really makes that thing POP. Im thinking this might be good for the 20 something ladies but not those of us that have started to age lol.

I am SO glad I watched this before buying new foundation! You have the exact same skin type/issues that I do so I know that if it didn't work for you, it would most likely not work for me either. 9/10 foundations give me these same problems though with disappearing coverage and clinging to dry areas; causing pore "spots" etc and it just bums me out. Glad you are so thorough as it's saved me a bundle on bad makeup!! 🙌🤘🏻💖💖

I use this foundation and im 48. Those complaining you're probably using the wrong skin care primer because this is silicone based and you're most likely using water based which will cause the said issues(always wait 30-45 seconds before adding foundation). Also if you're not wearing a good moisturizer prior to the primer you will also have the issues.

But I feel like reviews on Amazon and everywhere else, are being compromised but paid reviews! Definitely Amazon last few week I've seen tons of staged reviews. Sad 😥can't trust anything

Thank you for this review! I recently tried this product and experienced everything you did. I'm not a make-up pro so thought I was doing something wrong with the application. I reached out to the company to ask about the dry patchy effect and they suggested a pretty expensive serum, but I was hesitant... I have pretty hydrated, clear skin and smaller pores. This made my pores look terrible and my skin look dull. And actually made the fine lines around my eyes worse :/ Thank you again for the honest review. It was a time and money saver for me!!

I’ve been bombarded by their ads for moths & started to get curious. I so do not need another foundation. I was glad Shelly had done a review we have the same skin type & she’s trustworthy. This one is going to be a hard pass for me.

I ordered this on the 14 day free trial. The colour match was perfect, however, it is very matte and it made my skin look very dry and accentuated my wrinkles and dry spots. I am over 60 years old, and I know that no product will make wrinkles disappear, but this just made my skin look crepey and older. I returned it.

@@frusia123 No, I would not buy this as you say you have very dry skin, it is a very matte formula and made my skin look even drier than it is and I used a nice moisturizer before applying it as well.

This foundation works best in my opinion with just a hyloronic acid moisturizer underneath and nivea under it.... I use it with my maybelline old school sponge CONCEALER and that's it

Headband is from Dollar General 😂 On the upside, if you did try it, it's no risk as long as you make sure to try it right away when you get it. At least there's that.

OK I have to comment on the eyeshadow look! When you went outside, the shift on that metallic shadow as AMAZING. Every time you turned your face, the shadow changed shades. Beautiful!

I love the purple eyeshadow in this look! You keep mentioning how dry your skin is, please forgive me if you have heard this before (this is the first video I have seen of yours and I enjoyed it), but try drinking lots of water! I used to have a big problem with dry skin but once I got a good moisturizer and upped my h2o intake significantly my skin is so much nicer! I am looking forward to watching more of your videos.

I love your channel. You are a real person who is highly intelligent and methodical about your reviews. I am 68. My experience with this foundation is highly positive. I don’t use the pump. I use the little stem to dab a few dots and blend with a Kabuki brush. I’m super pleased with the coverage. The shade match for me was perfect. Just my 2 cents.

I had exactly the same issues with this product. I thought it was my general inexperience with applying makeup, so this was refreshingly validating amongst all the rave reviews.

I think the main issue was the amount of product used and application. I have the same skin type with dark spots 2 pump covers my face fully. Any more than that is too much. Evenly blend with brush 1 pump over entire face. Then repeat one more time. Using that application style with their primer got mea perfect application. My only con was 8hrs later it settled some into my smile lines 😊

I have it and consider it good, but not great. I started out not using enough and not using a setting powder, so it didn't hold up well. The color was perfect, however. 😉 I have used primer, more product, and powder and got better results. I'm still experimenting. I am over 60, with combination skin.

I have very dry skin and I didn’t have this issue that you’ve had when I used this foundation. They also recommend using there brush. Make sure you use a moisturizer first before applying any foundation which will cause dry patches for any foundation if you didn’t use a moisturizer. Also exfoliate your skin 3 times a week. We all have different skin days so I get it…I just think different steps would have caused a better result. Also try Mac Studio fix if you have not already. Full beautiful coverage and been using it for years it’s my go to but definitely heavier than this one which is why I ordered this and love it because still great coverage! Key is moisturizer!

Interesting! Their ads were slow to show up in my feeds. I took their quiz & was told to choose shade #35 (which is close to your #40). Our skin colors are similar and I also have dry skin. Since for a similar price I already love my Emlin foundation in Burnished Ivory and also love the Clinique Even Better foundation in Breeze, I think I'll skip this one.

I keep seeing ads for this on Instagram and got as far as taking the shade matching quiz, but didn't order it. I don't have any confidence in their shade-matching ability, from what I've seen. But more importantly, your hair is KILLER! You found the perfect shade of purple :D

This foundation is definitely in my top 5 favorites. The only problem I have is wearing it in the summer months, it doesn’t do well when I sweat but maybe it’s the setting spray I was using🤷🏻‍♀️

This is how I felt about the Givenchy foundation from last year. I could not get it to work for me. Also, I got the ELF eye cream you recently recommended (so nice so far!) and was amused by the little goldfish on the top of the box that reminded me of your logo!

Yeah I don't recommend this liquid shadow. It was super worn off after 9 hours and it's just too patchy for the price and amount you get. Sad :(

Your skin tone looks the same as mine, and I got the same result. It looks quite yellow compared to around your eyes which is the problem I often have. I'll have to watch your other videos to figure out what makeup I should pick!

I'm really perplexed at the comments here. Not that I'm doubting anyone's experience and I always appreciate an honest review but very recently both my daughters and I totally fell head over heels for this foundation. It started with my 30 year old daughter trying it. I noticed how nice her foundation looked. I asked if I could try it at which time I bought my own bottle and then finally my 22 year old daughter just got her own this week (and she's a total makeup geek who is very picky about her cosmetics). Mine stayed on all day long and yet never felt caky or hard on the face. I felt it was very full coverage and I'm 54. Anyway, to each their own but I'd also like anyone here reading comments to not get discouraged in trying this brand. They are very pricey and I can't afford much else in the line regularly but I adore this foundation.

Thank you for this truthful review! I ordered mine 2 days ago before i saw this - of course! - lol. I'm older - 64 -but have good skin - not a lot of small lines. I use Ilia brand foundation - have been for several years. Thot i'd give il makiage a try - yikes. doesn't sound like this is gonna work for me. i need way more moisture. thanks again. btw - you have beautiful skin!

Okay then, on to the next! May I suggest Kjaer Weis new liquid foundation? I have not tried it, but it looks very good. Shelly, thanks for this review. I agree with the below comment, contact their customer service to see if you can get your money back. the worst thing that can happen is that they say no.

I really like it a lot but I have balanced skin. I used blur & syrum before putting it on. 5 minutes between syrum & 5 minutes after foundation before adding more makeup.

I also got this it’s horrible on the quiz I told them I have drive skin , I would think they would give me a foundation for dryness , it’s cakey and drying my face feels very ichy 😫 I’m returning it .

I have similar skin to Shelly’s, and this is one of my best performing foundations. I love it so much. [Edit: Could it be you used too much product? Also, I wear this right on top of my sunscreen, no primer.]

Question: I recently took the IL Makiage online quiz to find my "Perfect" foundation & I was sent the "After Party" formula. Upon submitting my skin condition, which was Dry, Discolored & Aged (I'm 53) I was sent the After Party. I've noticed that most all the online reviews, including yours in this video, are using the "Woke up like this". Knowing that you have dry skin as well, I was wondering if you know the difference between the 2 formulas (After Party & Woke up like this)? Thanks so much for this review because I truly trust your opinion :)

Hi Terri! I'm not sure what the difference is between the two. I've only tried the Woke version (what it told me after the quiz thing). I'm not even sure there was another option when I got mine.

Been waiting for your review. I don’t buy any foundation without it. EVERYTHING you like, I like. I will see another RU-vidr, which I love review some and it makes me want it, but then I have to see what you think first. Lol Update after review... thanks for saving me time and money. I have dry and dehydrated skin too. Until you my expectations of foundation were very low for my skin but I bought several on your recommendation and I was floored by how pretty foundation can look on my skin. I was just buying the wrong ones. Not anymore ❤️❤️❤️❤️

I stopped wearing makeup years ago, I’m 41 but my daughters needed help and I couldn’t help them cause all the new products that just were not known in my time. So I started down this rabbit hole and have become addicted to skin care and make up. Lol Love it!!!!

I find that using a dewy/glowy primer with primer water spray underneath and then primer water spray and setting spray on top makes it looks great. Do you think using a brush first and then a sponge would help make it work?

This is the foundation I use and it looks great on me. but... 1. I don't use primer 2. I never put more than 1 pump on my face 3. I set it with powder The only issue is that it cakes up where my glasses sit on my nose (but every foundation does that). I have combination skin and it really doesn't make me oily or dry me out. I'm not picky, so it probably looks awful on me, but I don't notice it. I gave this a try because I have a hard time finding foundation that matches my skin and even though I got a perfect match, it is pricy. I probably won't be buying it again.

It's strange because on camera you look AMAZING (at least in the 1st two check-ins) but in person it must look terrible, as you describe. Which I've heard is a common issue with many foundations these days. It seems many foundations are now being made to look good in photographs/online, but in person they're a hot mess, because so many people spend most of their time trying to look Instagram good (but not necessarily in reality good). And that was even before the pandemic. I was going to try this one eventually but now I think I'll skip it. I suspect that the vast majority of the people reviewing this online and giving it rave reviews are the 22 and younger crowd. They could cake literally anything on their face and look amazing 😂

I had the exact same experience with the new Il Makiage Woke This Way #35 I just got today. It covered ok but I'm not sure I like how it looks on my skin. Sometimes it looks good, sometimes it looks too heavy for my taste - not sure the colour is right for me either. so I'll try different applications and I may even try blending with another liquid foundation, some sheen or bronzer. If I'm still 'eh about it, at least I can return or try another colour, if I get happier with the formula's performance.

I had the EXACT same issue with this and I’m nearing my return time, but I will say it’s the best color match I’ve gotten, so I’m hesitant to return. What’s your recommendation for foundation for those of us that are aging like the fine wine we are? 😊
