IL2 1946 Douglas A-4F Skyhawk 

I flew the A-4 with VA-94 in '68 & '69 on the BHR and we had the Super Echo mod with the J52-P-408 engine and the electronics hump which allowed us to carry more ammo for the 20mms . VA-93 & VA-212 Had the A-4Fs which had the nosewheel steering and spoilers.

My dad was on The Furious, I have a lot of photos of life on board during his time with her. He would have loved to have seen this. Sadly no longer with us.

Great sim. Really enjoyed this. Just didn't know those 'bent' refueling probes and wingtip running lights were design changes to the A-4, as depicted here on the A-4F (?), and which apparently also served aboard the Bonnie (but when?) In 1967, during my first WestPac cruise to the Gulf, the A-4D squadrons then aboard the 'Good Man Richard' (Bon Homme Richard CVA-31), had straight probes, sans the long blister (radome) behind the pilot, too. This dorsal configuration appeared the following year (in '68) with the A4-E, when I was then aboard the Ticonderoga (CVA-14) on my last WestPac, and while again assigned to VAH-4 as tech on the KA-3B Skywarrior (tanker, or 'whale'). Back then, the Golden Knight squadron (as variously depicted here) had the radome and the same black/gold lion on their A-4s, but with straight probe and some other minor differences to its airframe. In any event, these newer Skyhawk variations must have entered service after I got out (in '68.) So now you have me chomping at the bit (ejection harness?) to get this latest IL2 software! Thanks!
