Agree 100%, max vs ilia is the biggest fight the UFC can make right now. 2 guys coming off huge KO wins, both trying to cement a legacy. It doesnt matter who you are going for, this fight is going to be epic
I love Max. One of my favourites, he’s that rare breed where basically every single fight they have is exciting, like Poirier and Gaethje. However, I feel like this is a unfavourable matchup for Max; Topuria has the right tool set to counter Max’s game. Also, Max going back down to 145 after fighting 155 last time, I feel it will be rough on him, he may not be able to perform the same way that we saw vs Gaethje

Agreed, I thought this was the time for Max to give 155 a real shot. He’s at the end of his physical prime (age wise) & going up in weight would help him as he gets older. He’ll still be faster and more skilled than most 155ers. He’s already been the 145 champ and fought for it a bunch of times. Plus Arman got suspended for 9 months for punching a fan at 300😆
Luke I have been consuming your content gladly for many years now and I have to say you do a terrific job. Even other MMA fighters i struggle to listen to them talk about MMA but you are generally very objective and intelligent with your answers to questions and you are not afraid to get a fighters knickers in a twist because you would rather ask the hard questions. Hate this fight for Max. He bulked up and looked amazing at 155. Now he's going to destroy himself with a weight cut and compromise his chin against a very heavy puncher. Hate it 👎👎👎
Exactly!!! I think Max should’ve stayed at 155. He looks like stronger, faster, and hands are heavier. And he’s a big 55er. Now, he’s in camp to lose all that he’s gained, to starve and to me, if he wanted to fight Taporia , should’ve booked it in December. Look what just happened to Volk. After fighting at 155. He didn’t even look right. Hate this fight!!
@jd0696 I don't know if his hands are heavier. He caught a literal last second KO against a guy who's chin was up and hands were down, and his momentum carried him into the punch. It's not like he got a first round one punch quitter.
@dy120481 He's definitely a heavier puncher! Max has much heavier hands than he used to have, but he's still not a power puncher, Topuria is. It remains to be seen if Topuria can hurt a bigger man, but he did beat the shit out of Emmet. Emmet is not as tall as Max, but he's much thicker! They're not very different in size. Topuria also knocked out 6.2 or 6.3 Jai Herbert.
I hate that Max is going back down to 145. I think the weight cuts were starting to diminish his speed and power. Ilia might capitalize and get credit for beating the Max that beat Gaethje and it probably won’t truly be the case. War Max. And I’m one of the few that likes Ilia lol.
Living in Ireland I'm so much happier than this one is on early. As silly as last weekend was I didn't care about the card much. Max is the only person I stay up to watch, but thankfully he fights at European times quite a lot.
Dana said aspinall will 100% be the backup for jones stipe. So it leads me to believe that pereira needs time off. It is odd tho because magomeds manager said the ufc "had different plans" for Alex so who knows. Dana has made it clear he doesn't love Alex moving up to HW until he clears the LHW division

Topuria -225 odds is unreal. Max’s movement is going to be key in this fight, he can’t stand and trade with Topuria’s power. I see Topuria trying to take Max down in the later rounds. For sure this is Max’s toughest fight but never count out the Hawaiian.
At first Luke loved Izzy but then Shavkat came in and stole his heart! But now it appears that Topuria has Luke ready to settle down and put a ring on it.

Magomid being made to fight someone else is hilarious. Why tf are they giving Khamzat another chance to fight Rob after fighting no one relative in the weight class is beyond me.
Magomed has 2 wins in 2 years against weak opponents. He got a title shot and fought to a draw, was fortunate to manage a 10-8 and not lose the fight. I don't get the complaining. The guy needs a notable win.
@NotUrDJ Alex has been super active. He's got so many more wins than magomed in the last few years. It would be different if Magomed had been winning lately. He's pretty inactive. You guys are acting like he deserves this and that. He's done very little the past few years.

When illia feels too much resistance from max in the striking game, he'll definitely resort to takedowns and go for a submission. Probably will occur in rounds 2-3 and so forth if it advances towards the fifth round. I hope max finishes him since Ilia tries to discredit max and made t seem like he was scared to sign the damn contract.. and I like ilia, I gave him my win prediction over volk, and was actually happy he won while also being sad that volk lost.. but max is one of the first fighters I saw when I first began my ufc journey as an mma fan.. if izzy wins he gets sean rematch cause izzy always calls his next fights, no way they give rob that fight next if izzy wins. Its eaither sean or chimaev nor rob. If DP wins, theres more options, he culd fight rob again or sean again. Or chimaev.
i really really hope Max flattens Ilia, as much as he represents a new era for ufc in spain, the best is Blessed, me vale verga que Ilia hable español, a todos nos cae mejor Max, its a tough hard fight for max, and yes, its probably the most competitive fight that can be done regardless of weight class in 2024
Exactly my thoughts! As a Spaniard myself I'm so happy Ilia became champ cause the UFC will finally make its appearance in Spain (Madrid hopefully). That being said, I sure hope he gets flatlined by the baddest mother effer out there.
