When I was a kid in the sixties, My dad & grandparents often took me down to Moreton beach to collect a bucket of Cockles. I loved playing in the muddy sand. I never knew it was now illegal to collect them! How times have changed!
Yea this is now illegal, as leasowe bay has been hit hard and there’s not enough for migrating birds.. signs up everywhere saying that it’s illegal and a fine too..they don’t seem to care tho unfortunately!!
I think you should be allowed to take what you can reasonably carry, it's the people who take quad bikes/carriers, who should be targeted. For a country that won't allow hunting or this type of scavenging ( for want of a better word ) there's fuck all wild life here anyway. I believe there's deer down south and further north. Apart from the stag that the police shot a few months ago, what is there? Rodents? I read somewhere a bear had been shot in France after attacking somebody. France has bears?! What the fuck have we got? Rabbits!!! Wolves, wild boars, were killed off centuries ago, probably by the Norman descendants that told the rest of us to lay off swans and deer. And stop individuals getting a bucket of shellfish off the beach
