@1 million subscribers Before 2022 challenge You technically can get light blocks. It's a weird glitch but basically you can build an iron golem with a jack o lantern and it will leave a large patch of light

A little extra tip: Use campfires for fireplaces if the version you're building in or theming your build around has them. Much better and safer than just using a flint & steel and then calling it a day. You even get the opportunity for a chimney out of it.

Gold blocks can be used to decorate your builds, you just have to have the right theme and color palette. It looks nice with smooth or chiseled sandstone and cyan concrete for those desert builds.

You know what looks really cool? Carpet over glass in your roof. Since both those blocks are transparent, as long as you don't have anything non or semi-transparent over them, you've just got daylight in your house without giving it any visibly obvious path in.

Honestly, some build styles work really well together. You just have to experiment. I tried mixing medieval and modern, it ended up looking really good! You do have to pay attention to how you mix the styles though, just plopping a tower next to a modern house doesn't work at all.

One of the guys on our server does exactly what you said at 10:58. He builds these MASSIVE monuments which are impressive on the outside, but you go in and all there is inside a massive empty shell is a crafting table, a couple chests, a bed, and a furnace.

Usually, when I want darkness in my build, I use redstone torches to give it a dim vibe.

Yeah, Redstone torches have less light than normal torches, same with soul torches. Although, they commonly are used in (as the name implies.) Redstone contraption, AND gates would be my example.

Heres a tip while building, bee hives make a wood floor or ceiling variation, and blast furnace makes a stone tile floor type, looms make empty bookshelfs

While hiding lights is fun, build-incorporated lighting can be even better. I'm working on a secret tunnel/base of operations that will use some of my favorite Redstone tricks to have ominous flickering lights overhead in the corridor leading to my lair. I'm going to be proud of it when I'm finished. The coolest part is one light will use Redstone signals from 2 separate repeater loops set to tick rates of 3 and 4 respectively, and the other will use those same signals deactivating a Redstone torch to make them both flicker at off-rhythm paces.

To be fair, value blocks can look good, they’re just hard to get your hands on, and you need an idea of what to use them for. For example, if you wanted to make a tiered base where each level uses a different type of block, like Lapis for an enchanting room, gold for a food storage + brewing room, diamonds for a treasure room area, iron for an iron farm or mining area, coal for a super smelter section, emeralds for a trading hall… there is a way to use them, it’s just not in a traditional house build.

On the last point: look no further than the pages of history and you will find that in the earliest of days (...well really today too) the civilizations and cities with the best defenses survived and thrived. Remember that when you go to your beautiful little town or bustling Villager city-in-the-making and realize your civilization is extinct because you failed to build protection for your citizens. As the player you are the leader of your village. Loved the whole video, I found it very informative and helpful by the way.
