The love for 'Illish maach' for any bengali is unparalled. This dish combines the two most favorite thing together, maach (fish) and bhaat (rice). Cooked at the same time saves time and tastes heavenly. Kumro pata (pumpkin leaf) adds to the taste of Illish maach.
Ingredients:
Hilsa fish - 2 pieces
Pumpkin leaf - 4 big leaves
Turmeric powder - 3 Tbsp
Red Chilli powder - 1 1/2 Tbsp
Salt - 2 Tbsp
Paste of-
11/2 Tbsp yellow mustard seeds
11/2 Tbsp black mustard seeds
1 Tbsp poppy seeds
2 Tbsp dessicated coconut
2 chilies
1/2" ginger
1 tsp salt
11/2 Tbsp yoghurt
2 Tbsp mustard oil
2 green chillies
Thread for tying
For the Rice (in rice cooker):
2 cups of rice
Water according to the rice cooker directions
