It seems like hybe only achieved big 3's popularity but not the professional coaches that they hire...even now talent wise groups from big 3 are still at the top like nmixx , aepsa , and babymonster. The only thing hybe knows is to add a catchy part in their songs so that it goes viral in tiktok .
Minju is obviously the backbone of her team, the rest seems to be selected based on complementary looks. If she's the standout yet didn't meet YG BM's requirements, it also speaks volumes about the talent disparity between the two girl groups😮

Hybe is really trying to ruin k-pop. Most of their songs are straight from america or foreign writers, so they don’t sound k-pop at all. And then, not giving good training for their trainees because visual sells better. Very unethical of hybe.
@@Haerincon I think we should say that it’s 4th and 5th gen HYBE groups that aren’t good vocalists, except maybe for Yunjin, Chaewon and Hanni (honorable mention to Hyein for her stability). I don’t know how stable BND are but they seem to be pretty good so far.

I'd give them some grace for their first encore. Minju is the strongest vocalist so I wasn't surprised but let's be honest HYBE def prioritizes visuals over vocal talent.

Why should they care? Their music charts #1 everywhere thanks to the thousands of producers they work with and the mediaplay and streams they buy. As long as their groups are successful thanks to deluded teenagers who buy millions of albums, they won't change anything. Maybe I’m crazy but reading some of these comments made me realize how hard some kpop fans coddle these idols when it comes to their singing skills. I have never seen a group or a solo artist in the west debut, have horrid live vocals and still be respected as an artist. I always thought singers had to have a natural talent for singing. Skills can be improved and learned over time but we’re talking about singing like you need to have a pleasant voice to begin with. You can’t just raw dog your way through every performance, you can’t just rely on your company to make you sound good every time. Why are some of the most successful kpop idols at best mediocre singers? And you know being able to hit at least a few notes and not sounding like a dying cat is just not enough to do this as your main job. There are people in this industry taking up space when they are absolutely not suited for the job. “Not that bad” is just not enough to be part of this kind of industry.

It's called marketing. Companies rely on customer visual senses. So they pick out the most visually appealing idols with no matter of talent, market them so much, so that by the time the customer realizes that they have no talent, it's too late and they have already become successful and the customer can't do anything about it since that's their bias. Also add in the fear of other fandoms taking over the spot, that's why some fandoms, even when they know the idol is not talented, will stick by them and that's what companies bank on. But this strategy usually lasts for a short while since the idols have to prove that they have talent, mostly during their solo era, and when people see it's not there, they leave. Secondly, companies with talented idols don't pour money into marketing as they feel like the talent will speak for itself which in this era is not a good strategy. That's why you see most talented groups getting their big breaks after 5 years usually

We could talk about pretty privilege and the halo effect but I personally think a lot of them are just incredibly parasocial . And sure their visuals and how people react to them play a significant role in that parasocial relationship but in my opinion you don’t just suddenly realize that a person cant sing. At the end of the day they are singers and debut with songs, if the song sounds like shit it sounds like shit no matter how pretty the idol is. Your focus can shift and you start prioritizing different qualities in that idol but personally I don’t think that’s the case here. These fans have parasocial relationships with the company, with the artist, even sometimes with the artists manager. A lot of the time they are really young and just chase what’s trendy, kpop has become incredibly mainstream over the past couple of years and companies deliberately create music (and artists) that fit a certain tiktok trend. That’s like you said great for a short period of time but again in my opinion nobody is that blind to the lack of talent in a lot of these groups unless they choose to just ignore it.
For context minju trained at YG for 5yrs she went on BELIFT for 1-3 months before appearing on the survival show and got her place and had pre-debut training. Hybe doesnt have the facilities to produce idols like minju. You'd think with all this money they'd get better coaches
And people who said they are just kids remember most of the idols debut at a young age and still have good vocals so using their age as excuse is ridiculous

Are they not finding the right talent for their new groups like Illit? It feels like Illit is just a mishmash of Le Sserafirm and NewJeans. And seriously, why does it seem like none of Hybe's idols can sing? It's a bummer when you're hoping for strong vocals and they don't deliver.
Unis is actually a diamond in the rough, the reason they're not gaining as much attention as ILLIT is because they're not from the big 3, but at least they actually get good outfits since their company is also a fashion giant in Korea.

Yunah trained 5yrs, iroha trained 5yrs under jyp, Moka had Training in Japan and at hybe Japan, minju trained for 5yrs at YG, wonhee had 2 weeks worth of training then 9 month pre-debut. They weren't even good on the survival show the only good one was minju thanks to YG. Stop making excuses what was the point of them training for 5yrs if they can't hold a goddamn note?

Lmao the nervous excuse is the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard. Y’all realize that’s the whole point of the whole trainee system, to put them under intense pressure and see how they perform. No way performing at a music show in front of adoring fans and when you already have the security of being a debuted idol is more nerve wracking than doing monthly evaluations in front of the company higher ups who will literally decide your future plus fellow trainees who are all hoping you crash and burn so they have a better shot. This is a pure (lack of) skill issue

Often I have seen Japanese members struggle with vocals. They're often the main dancers e.g. Twice, enhypen, lesserafim, illit and many more but they have this distinctive breathy voice that doesn't let them sing properly here in the case of Moka. Anyway, good job, Minju💗 Ps. The Sakura mention was just🤣
They don't focus in training vocals, that's why, if you listen to japanese idol groups, they have that cute childish voice and great stamina but lack stability... they focus on different aspects
Hybe = Hype. Look at Le sserafim. Only half of them could sing well on live stages without using backtracks. I bet UNIS did better than them. Btw, Babymonster is an exception.
