+Joe X Med (JxM) It's more complex to do that. You have to buy a small SMD led for each key, and build them into the keys and make place for the power cables. It isn't impossible, but really difficult.

I wouldn't... laptop keyboards are laid out and constructed differently than desktop keyboards. Try Radio shack EL wire, still some risk involved and you need an inverter (a little bigger than a Matchbox car). The wire can jam in the gaps around keys if your keyboard is like that, and the inverter could stick to the back of the screen with double sided tape. Costs about $40, 20 for the wire and the same or less for the inverter, but EL wire is available in a few colors and is quite bright. Red, blue, and white are the colors I remember.
Nice idea and simple instructions. However I feel you should've emphasized the importance of polarity and to take out 1 black and 1 red pair from each hole, and to test the LEDs polarity at the end of the heat-shrink before final soldering by actually switching on. Or instructing that the longer lead is the anode (A + positive) or the shorter lead and the part of the LED with the flattened rim is the cathode (K - positive)
Depending sometimes on the maker. Some have more solid plastic around the outside. Also, check the mm of the LED's, because they may be bigger. Bigger=more plastic they have to go through= higher voltage. Also, one may be Ultra Bright while one is not.
This is not useless sometimes like if you are in a room with someone asleep you can easily use this. Because turning on all of the lights would wake em up.

really usefull if you use a pull out keyboard tray but are too lazy to pull it all the whole way and the lamp on your desk is making your keyboard looks darker than it should be :)
To keep annoying LEDs from blinding you wrap them with foil leaving a u shaped opening facing your keyboard then you won't get dancing dots in your vision.
I like the idea....specially when the lamp fails...at the middle of the night...and Your kinda rushd with University Proyects....BESIDES! its kinda cool and fresh to have your keyboard lightned up like that instead of a boring lamp! KEEP UP WITH THE CREATIVE PROYECTS! :D
