good day sir..4 info:plaza libertad is not the site where the Philippine flag was first raise in the island of panay on 25 december 1898, rather it was first raised "outside of luzon" on 17 november 1898 in the plaza of sta barbara, iloilo by gen martin teofilo delgado, commemorated by a "cry of sta barbara" marker & celebrated yearly as part of "kahilwayan festival" of the aforementiined town..thanks and more power..
Hello. It is correct that the Philippine flag was first raised outside of Luzon in the Plaza of Santa Barbara on November 17, 1898 by Gen. Martin Delgado. It is called as the "Cry of Sta. Barbara" and this was the day of the formal inauguration of the Revolutionary Government of the Visayas. The event in Plaza Alfonso XII, now Plaza Libertad is considered to be the site where the flag of the first Philippine Republic was raised in triumph after Spain surrendered Iloilo, the last Spanish capital in the Philippines, to the revolutionary forces led by Gen. Martin Delgado on December 25, 1898.
