Finished my IRA, written Instrument test, got a 97, and never knew anything about false glide slopes till I watched this. I knew I needed to go back and read the instrument handbook, but I hadn't guessed I'd missed anything as critical as a false glide slope phenomena.
Some OBS systems add as an example on the G 1000 you have a BC button which is for back course. An OBS that is equipped with a backhoe or sensor will have a green LED light next to an icon that says BC I believe if you push the button, it automatically sets the phase 180° out so that the needle appears to be tracking in the right direction. In this case you fly to the needle even on the back course.
Wowww...u made it so brief and crisp. While I shall need an elaborate understanding, but the video is such a simplifies summation on ILS theories. Thank you
I wouldn't have gotten my private pilots license in 7 months if it wasn't for ERAU, and I know I would NOT be as far along as I am now in my instrument training if it were not for ERAU. THANK YOU GUYS!!!
What a fantastic video! The presentation and material are as good as it gets. I have never seen this topic explained so clearly and with all of the details included. Thank you for making this available.
Very good video and presentation. The only problem is we in the US NO LONGER HAS ILS, ONLY LOCALIZER AND GPS. REFERENCE FAA APPROACH CHARTS ISSUED TODAY.
Sir a question, I knew that in a non precision approach you should hold the MDA/H until you have reached the Mapt, and then starting the M.A procedure, in order to remain separated from the obstacles for the M.A procedure... Am I right?
One hint for GPS users: set your GPS to "cumulative distance" on the flight plan if able. For some reason, most GPSes default to the distance to the next point, like 0.5 Alpha, 0.5 Beta, 0.5 RWY 14. Instead you use cumulative it is 0.5 Alpha, 1.0 Beta, 1.5 RWY 14. It gives you better situational awareness as well as allows you to call out distance to runway to other traffic without doing the math in your head.
These videos are absolutely incredible. I would be interested to know if your using these video's outside of RU-vid. I can't imagine the effort and time put into these to make all the graphics, let alone the wonderful descriptions and videography. Regardless. Thanks for making these available to everyone!
I know this comment is old, but stressing about my CFII in a few days and honestly that little thing he did there made me lighten up. Lucky to have this guy haha. If your reading this thank you!
*this video, (and all the recent videos on instrument flying on this channel) are so helpful it makes me emotional. finally, the videos I've always been looking for while training for instrument the past 2 years!* 😂
