When you hear the real talent from musicians "back in the day" you see why us old farts are so disappointed with current music. There's no talent that isn't computer generated/altered anymore. But our "classics" show the real talent in the vocals & all the instruments. Plus the song writing was just better. Music was meant to strike an emotion or memory. And you end up with amazing songs from incredible bands. Even if they're singing about aliens. lol

The short lived series Freaks and Geeks used this song at the end of it’s pilot episode. Capturing a school dance circa 1980 perfectly.

Best thing that ever happened! I was born in the 60's and grew up on all this awesome music. I Love all genre's but Rock was my youth. As long as it has good lyrics and an awesome sound I can listen to just about anything. I've went with the flow as music changed over the decades. But honestly I have a hard time listening to some of the current stuff. It just doesn't compare to the feel of seeing and hearing live bands playing their own instruments. That being said ... who ever came up with the idea of sitting a young black man in quarantine in front of Rock and Metal music is Genius! I've struggled with depression these last 10 years really bad and honestly you work a hellava lot better than any antidepressants! I'm firing my doctor! There is a trippy interlude that completely transforms the song that you missed and you deserve it to yourself to lay back and close your eyes and just to listen to the full version and let it sail you away, even if you choose not to do a reaction to the album version. I've been played by friends too, I felt that when I heard it. With that in mind I'd suggest Fooling Yourself(Angry Young Man) as another very emotionally uplifting and motivating song but in a different unique way from Come Sail Away. Crystal Ball Man in the Wilderness Both for a bluesy sadness and desire to understand life and the path you're on. Unfinished Song is very much like that emotional tone and theme too but music less blues and more like the beginning of Come Sail Away. These songs can hit you with that connection but some other great suggestions with different styles are. Renegade Blue Collar Man(Long Nights) Queen of Spades All because it's all different flavours of Hard Filthy Rock Prelude 12/Suite Madam Blue A.D. 1928/Rocking the Paradise Grand Illusion All for there poignant lyrics for the social political state of America Also if you choose to listen those songs you need to make sure to specifically listen to the version with Prelude 12 and A.D.1928 with their respected songs because Styx does this thing where they make two tracks and one of them is the beginning half even cutting words in between tracks for one of them.

STYX “was” a great Rock band until...lead singer Dennis DeYoung lost his mind and took the band in a direction only HE was interested in...Theater. Mr. Robato was developed and Stxy was ruined. Too Bad because Guitarist Tommy Shaw was one of the best at the time. Tommy jumped ship! End of an era.
