I'm creating a system that will hopefully fix D&D's roleplay mechanics and give DM's a clear option to intergrade how people level into the story of the game If you have suggestions or would like to look at it click on this doc.
I am definitely not finished and jump from topic to topic so i apologize for somethings looking a little unfinished or a lot unfinished

I think this has shadows of the career system in Warhammer Fantasy. I'm not certain I got the pitch/thesis on how this improves role playing at the table, but it is a different way to structure classes, and that's cool.

How is it similar to Warhammer? I haven't played it yet

@@NotDeadSpider Sorry for the delay! Warhammer starts you off with a career, and after you max out the benefits of that career, you have career exits, which are new careers with certain material and experience requirements you need to begin them. So, if you start off as an Outlaw, you can become an outlaw chief, which requires 6-12 follower, or a Highwayman, which requires a pair of pistols and a riding horse, and so on and so forth. Some careers are very restrictive as to how you enter them - apprentice wizard is a starting career, but you can enter it later from many other careers, but you need to go through it to get to journeyman wizard. So, the progression system has tiers, but also allows for lateral moves if you're patient, and willing to work to get to where you want to go.

Looks cool. Skimming through the document, I feel like it uses too much of Dnd's core mechanics. The stats, proficiencies, AC, many names for things. As it is right now it feels like dnd with a lot of homebrew mixed in. My favorite part of the systems is definitely the classes, changing as you level up to higher classes and thing, although it does feel a little reminiscent of prestige classes from old dnd. The best thing about this is definitely the setting and everything having to do with that. I'm definitely interested to see where this goes. My thoughts on/advice for future development is to lean into the world more. Don't just use basic classes like wizard, barbarian, thug, ranger, druid, use world specific professions and powers that you wouldn't be able to find anywhere else. Because every fantasy game has the knight, the wizard, the healer. Try and differentiate it from dnd, think about uses different stats, different mechanics, and altered combat. I understand that your personal focus is on the roleplay, but if you ignore the combat it will definitely feel boneless to me and others like me. Maybe try to collaborate with someone who's more worried about mechanics and combat so you can focus on the roleplay and story aspect. I'd also say that you have just too many races. A lot of them also feel a little uninspired, especially the elementals which are abasically just genasi. Focus more on the genre and world specific races and flesh those out. Finally, the mutation system looks really promising. But I feel like it needs a lot more development, and personally I'd make it into a core aspect of the game. The way you talk about it in the video, though, and the way they're laid out in the document, they just feel like feats. Also like in dnd, technically optional, but I don't know anyone boring enough not to use them. TL;DR it has a lot of promise and the setting looks really cool, but it just feels way too similar to dnd right now. I'm definitely looking forward to what it will turn into.

Thank you for the creative input. This was definitely helpful and I do agree with pretty much everything here. I will probably work on combat last but I do hope it does make it feel different from other ttrpgs. This was very helpful, thanks again

@@NotDeadSpider I'd be happy to help with play testing if/when that ever happens. I saw there were some names in the document for characters? But I'm definitely going to follow this regardless, and personally try to run a game or two once the project feels more concrete.
