Imaginaerum tells the story of an elderly composer, Tom, who suffers from severe dementia. As he has had the disease for years and has regressed into childhood, he remembers practically nothing from his adult life. His music, friends, all his past including the memory of his daughter are a blur in his fragile mind. All he has left is the imagination of a ten year old boy. As he drifts away into coma, it seems impossible to get back what he has lost. Or is it?

I've never cried soo much in my life. Nightwish created a pure mindfuck masterpiece! This is definitely not an easy movie you would watch on romantic evening with your gf or bf. If you're not paying 110% attention to storyline you can easly get confused and totally miss the whole point. It's a very sad movie though. 10/10

I absolutely agree. I was paying close attention and I only understood the basic storyline the second watch through. I've seen it.... Probably 50 times at least by now and there's still little things that pop out at me - symbolism that was missed. *That's* what gives a movie so much rewatch value.

I'm a fan of nightwish, and love their last album Imaginaerum, so i was a must go and watch this movie and I did. If you are a Nightwish fan, you'll get a kick out of this movie. Imaginaerum is one of those movies that will leave you confused for the first hour in to the movie. The last quarter of the movie will offer some explanations, but some will remain, the gaps in the movie are left up to the viewer to imagine. With this movie you can't expect things to be handed to you on a silver platter

I have strange feeling that I saw in this trailer some things from Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus /2009/ (some scenes and also the name.) Maybe something from Sucker Punch and that skeleton looks like Tim Burton's Jack Skellington from Nightmare before christmas. But still it looks quite nice and I think I should watch this movie... :)

This movie is MAGNIFICENT and so, soooooo underrated. A piece of poetry put before your very eyes. The scene of the spinning room is just MASTERPIECE. Whether you like Nightwish or not, this movie deserves a try.

Being a huge Tim Burton fan, I couldn't stop myself from falling in love with the dark symbolism of this movie that I am used to seeing in TB films. What a masterpiece! You have to pay attention throughout the whole movie to REALLY get it.

For anyone wondering if the movie is good or not, let me just say that it was one of those SUPER UNDERRATED movies that should have gotten A LOT more attention than it did. I wasn't expecting much going into the movie but my god it's going down as one of my favs

If you sit down and try to watch the movie for entertainment purposes, it's going to be bad. You have to have an open and analytical mind while watching this masterpiece to truly comprehend how deep it can go. It's very metaphorical, philosophical and, without a doubt, phenomenal.

One of my favourite films of all time. To me, it's right there with Inception in terms of quality. The only things I slightly disliked were the CGI (it's not a high budget film and it was made in Finland, and it's not even that bad. I only thought it looked weird at some parts) and the child actor who plays the main character (he IS a child actor with not much experience, and there's only one scene where I think he should have shown more emotion. For the rest of the film, both him and the rest of the cast are brilliant). These are the only negatives I could think of, and I have seen Imaginaerum FOUR TIMES. That's how amazing it is.

@@Kullioking Amazon just recently started up in my country which means 1) other countries Amazon no longer ships here, not even digital items and 2) since it's new the shop is still virtually empty. Sigh. Unless you meant the subscription thingy, in that case I have no idea if they have it. Since I'm the kind of person who like to own the things I pay for subscriptions are not what I'm looking for. Thanks though.

Just watched it finally can get it in the US its a very interesting movie and it has its thrills and also its sad moments i think it will touch a lot of people wether it be going through the loss of a loved one or being the one left abandonded and scard like the main character) (not to give to much away) im amazed now dont judge this movie VS tripple AAA ones but the fact this was an indie project is crazy that its this good

I've seen many excellent films in my passion as a movie buff. But in my opinion, no other film will outlive this one when I describe it as the BEST film ever!!!! I imagine this film as a 'darker BIG FISH/less violent PANS LABYRINTH' combination with that added ambience and part-musical background. Also I'm now curious about the musical score group Nightwish. If this soundtrack of theirs stood out, then I got a very positive feeling about their others

I thought I recognised Elias Toufexis' voice. That Ragdoll Snowman fellow is Adam Jensen's voice actor from Deus Ex Human Revolution if people aren't aware. It looks alright this.

Yes and no. Tom is to not get sued, the poet is reference to Walt Whitman (it's entirely obvious). If they choose Tom because it shounds similar to Tuomas or not is another thing. They did gave names to the other musicinas... but I don't remember those names, so I can't help. And GEM is actually a plot point, so it doesn't have anything to do with Tarja. Fortunatelly. I mean... she left a 1000000 years ago, period.

There is a difference between knowing and understanding. Anyone can "know" by being told or read. But you just know what you interdepend. Dig deeper and explore more of that concept to understand WHY it is the way it is.. People that say they know, often don't understand. (arrogant) And people that understand often say that they don't know. (modest, respectful)

I like fantasy and Imaginarium is one of my favorite albums. The concept of it suits me entirely... But this movie... Just lacks something. There are certain moments where this reminds me of The Imaginarium of Dr Parnassus. Maybe I haven't really got it... I don't say it's the worst movie I've seen... BUT the album definately touches the heart more and takes you to Neverland right away!!!
