You know what, Last week marked our first year sharing content almost every Friday! Guess what? We’ve hit 40,000 + subscribers!! And over 2M views. Whoaaa!! All because of you! I think in another year, we will celebrate the coveted RU-vid Plaque? Hmmm. Ok, Help us get there! We promise to carry it like a crown! Similar to how a pineapple wears its crown with the yummy flesh tucked under! Ok, I am thirsty now. Send me two piña Colada’s one for each hand! Haha.. But better yet, meet Peter who is crowned with over 20 acres of pineapples. Did you know that once you start harvesting pineapples after planting, i.e. 1yr 8months, with proper management, you will harvest every two weeks for the next 7-8 yrs.. non-stop.. talk of money crowned fruits!

Enough farmers get together on that, a processing plant that produces both canned fruit and juice could be the next step, and a farmer owned cooperative could easily raise the capital. Employing more of the village, making everyone better off👍

Very inspiring. This farmer is making 131,217.24 US Dollars a year (Kshs 14 million). It would have taken him over 20 years to earn such money as a teacher in Kenya...those tired stereotypes that are prevalent in many people's minds where they equate farmers to peasants need to be revised.

However he did say he spends (kshs 500,000) 4700 dollars per acre in expenses so a total of 94000 dollars (kshs 10 million) in total for his 20 acres. So he still has over 40,000 dollars profit in the first 20 months. After that the only cost is manure and labour which can hardly cost 30k dollars. This leaves him with a healthy 100+ thousand dollars profit from year 3-8 ....It's not clear if this the money he spends for initial setup cost of buying seeds and other operating costs or what he spends every year. I presume that amount is capital for setting shop then after that he will be coasting in handsome profits for 8 years (the shelf life of a pineapple plant)...

Since this area is suitable for pineapple farming. Get farmers around your area and form a cooperative. Every farmer with at least an acre of land or more. To join the cooperative every farmer pays a fee to join akin to a membership fee of Sh1000. If you get at least 500 farmers with an acre or more of land and each paying 1000 membership fee, thats 500acres of land and membership fee totaling sh500,000. Then approach cooperative bank. With 500acres and sh500,000 and proof of concept ( your farm) that pineapple growing in your area is possible. The bank will then guide you on the way forward on how to set up the cooperative and guide you on how to move forward. They will work with you and even loan you money against your deposit and 500acre land for working capital. You can then grow even further with more farmers joining and soon you will become the next delmonte. Cooperative bank has done this for many farmers. so they know what you need because your success is also their success. And of course you can distinquish your pineapples as being organic unlike Delmonte who use chemicals.
