You can tell it's two different artists who do them. One seems to do more dynamic poses with more intricate shading while the other does more still poses and flatter shading. They're super similar just slight differences.
If you look closely one is made for character introduction art while the other is the pose of the characters when they do their burst, i guess back in the day, Hoyo wants to tease us with the character introduction art first then when you finally wish for them you will see how they will look like when they do their burst
yeah i noticed and i think you can see it mostly with Xinyan, Xiangling, Diona and especially Venti and Klee. Diluc as well, even the hair is different. I personally think the original burst drawings have a warmer vibe idk, and the promo art for Venti makes him look so different from his splash art.. more welcoming kinda? It's the eyes, probably. Also is it just me or does Klee's facial expression look kinda scary in her promo art? lol
Really wish they kept making both promotional arts and gacha arts for every character. I mean, why wouldn't we want more content and give artists more commissions at the same time? It's not like making a separate art is going to financially destroy Hoyo or delay updates. Artists draw multiple different concepts and poses for every character anyways.
@@theploot8230 It makes the characters look more interesting. Like how models give different poses and angles to show off slightly different vibes and what they might be thinking as the concept. I certainly miss when Hoyo used to give two different arts for the characters as the gacha art (dynamic battle poses foreshadowing in-game playstyle) becomes something I can look forward to when pulling after seeing the character in drip marketing having resting/idle standing poses. It's just more exciting that way for me.
@@theploot8230 it’s not pointless you see it’s for promotional purpose thats why it’s called promotion art😭 they often use it for freebies in offline events.. also more variety is always good, especially now they do something like drip marketing
a bit sad when they stopped doing different arts after hu tao and started with rosaria. wouldve loved to see if what it would be like if all the chars had two different arts, one for splash art and the other for their promotional
While Promotion art promotes the character, splash art seems to show the character's personality more and it also references one of their in-game combat attacks. It's such a waste genshin doesn't do splash arts anymore, it would've shown the characters personality so well
I think the art they used for both promo and gacha splash art are super detailed and expressive. The composition made the characters in a vertical position unlike before like with childe and albedo gacha art spread across the screen making it more dynamic.
It isn't even that bad. But indeed the splash arts were more dynamic. Still, maybe my eyes just love the novelty because I really liked some even if they were on their alternate pose for splash art
They probably went for the splash art in game bc the ones in game have a more identifiable silhouette or line of action. Like with albedo’s they made is arm more visible. Most likely bc it starts off as black when you wish :D
personally it's a mixed bag, the the poses on the right side aren't as eye catching, but some of the details are higher quality like the eyes or the hair. The left almost has a bloom effect to the shading but the poses feel a lot more appropriate, though Barbara is the one of my few exceptions ;)
You missed The Wanderer’s since he has a different pose for splash art. But this is so cool Edit: @KerubielZ I didn't know that you struggled for Mona and Wanderer. I just saw the comment right now. 🤦♂️ but it's alright
The one on the left is actually doing something with the things that are happening around putting the, into action. The right one just slapped Idol poses on some and it made no sense with the things around them. Like Amber, Ninnguang, Lisa, and Diona. Their were very obvious things around them that they should interact with to make it better.
That's because the right one is not supposed to be a splash art but a promotional one. Their art is usually shown when announcing a character which mostly has a white background. If you slapped the characters from the left to the right side's bg it would be off too. Honestly, this is what i like when i started playing the game when it released. Now you can just expect that the promo art is the same as the splash art.
The amount of silly “Genshin bad” propaganda these days is just laughable. Imagine paying an artist to do a second separate artwork of a character that is seen exactly once when you pull him or her from the gacha. Now that’s a waste of money.
@@グルイズビオ It's not that it's tough or that they're lazy, there's just isn't really a point in adding that, or having 2 splash arts overall, having a single recognizable art of a character is just more convenient both in marketing and in management, we care too much about this silly stuff as fans but for them it's really nothing important, when it comes to marketing and programing all we see is the end result, but it's way more complicated behind the scenes, there's millions of tiny details and decisions they have to account for, things we take for granted and don't even notice, so if they can cut corners of course they will, i mean, why wouldn't they? I mean just think about it, there's probably a lot of rejected concepts of splash arts we don't even know exist, it's not like they'll pick the first thing they come up with, so they're only shooting their own feet by having to go through that process twice, if they didn't cut corners we probably would have a version update every 3 months or something with barely any noticable difference in the end product (at least from a fan perspective).
I think it's strange that they stopped doing that, usually as games get momentum and get more budget they would add more details like this, not take them away lol. Not doing two separate arts feels more like a step backwards than anything...
one on the left made creative poses for the splash art making it look like the splash art is doing the skills or burst animations in some way while the other one on the right is just them posing like on ambers it feels off for some reason seeing a standing amber while theres an arrow beinf fired from her side??? it is all a big improvement
Most of the alternate splash arts were actually the first ones created. Remember how in the beta footage there were only the alternates ones and probably changed mid development, to be more dynamic/energetic. Also don't forgot all characters designes till 1.3 were long before fiinished, that's probably a reason why they still have these alternates splash arts
i miss the old time when i played on the phone very fluent to play, since genshin released i've play that and know how nostalgic the splash art when pulling wish on venti banner😌🥺
Why did they stop doing alternate splash arts tho? And why was Furina announced with a different art, why did she get sth like "the alternate splash art"? Why is she different?
Omg this is so intresting, I always saw 2 versions but I always thought the one that has thinner lines and looks more animey was fanart (it’s the one on the right that I thought). That’s cool but I prefer the one on the left
at one point i'm glad that they decided to stick with one art per character mostly because i didn't really like those introduction arts compared to splashes on the other hand...they could just hire an artist with the same skill for those introduction arts and still make them different
This video made me think about our innocent tuna who now lives on the moon, honkai impact had one of my favorite stories in games. The trio will always have my heart even though the new mc’s are Seele and Susannah
"It doesn't matter if they don't have an alternate splash art" Just because you like the game doesn't mean you're obligated to defend a decrease in quality
Dude. First, redrawing kudos id just have a stroke from the amount of transparent png Second I was having a stroke like; where have I heard this song and why is it giving me the feels? Then the light bulb moment and I literally just went "OHHHHHH"
