My family joined the "Nation of Islam" in 1964 when I was 10. I am so grateful for this. I "reverted" as he described, after the death of the man we called, "The Messenger." Through "The Nation" as we called it, I heard the word "Islam" for the first time and I continue, by The Grace of God, on the path to this day, ever striving for His Pleasure and grateful for His Guidance.
True servants of Islam with no personal agenda: People in Texas probably don’t know Imam Siraj Wahaj, he is an icon, with larger than life personality, at the level of Mohammad Ali (boxer) and Malcolm X when we talk about African American Muslims in the USA and their contribution toward spreading Islam and changing people’s thinking about Islam in America. He was also close to Ahmed Deedat, who was the only debater I have ever known, Ahmed Deedat was the mentor of Dr. Zakir Naik. Dr. Bilal Philips is another great African American in this category. May Allah give all of them Jaza ul Khair for their services for Islam.

As salaamu alaikum rahmatullah wa barakatu, every American Muslim should know the story of imam Warrith Deen Muhammad. He was routinely kicked out of the Nation of Islam because he rejected his father's theology. He takes leadership when his father dies and close to a half million people take shahada overnight. This is one of the largest mass conversions to orthodox Islam in a single event in history.

May Allah Most Merciful make us of those, ameen!!!
