Cavs were struggling before that trade,they were like 33-30 around there,their energy on defense is what helped the most.They went like 18-4 after the trade

I remember when J.R. and Shumpert were traded. The only reason I could give why that happened was Phil giving LeBron the missing pieces so he could later go to NYC. What??? Did you even watch that year?? Harden had a little slump in the WCF for sure but he came back strong & was a BIG reason they beat the Spurs. He cam off the bench & caught Firee🔥. It wasnt til the Finals that him & Russ fell off the map, & it was only in the last 2 games. I still remember in the Finals Gm 2 in OKC the refs were favoring the Heat like crazyyy. OKC was playing really well & the refs put a stop to it. They deff didn’t want a repeat of the Mavs in ‘11

To be fair though a large part of that was due to the Heat, gotta give em they credit. After game 2 they put the clamps down, OKC didnt know what to do & their gameplan fell apart & they couldnt stop em.

Basketball never got ruined, teams just got more money & were able to make big moves. GS was just one of the teams to really act on making a big move. Every other team that was already behind fell further behind.
2020 to 2010 belonged to the Warriors and whatever team LeBron went to. 2009-2000 belonged to the Lakers and Spurs 1999-1990 belonged to the Bulls n Rockets 1989-1980 belonged to the Lakers, Celtics n Pistons. These teams all made moves other teams failed to make.
Watched every Cavs game that year they traded for you and the price was they had to take JR too. You played yourself right out the line up with that terrible inconsistent jumper. JR turned his defense up and was real consistent until getting paid. You stayed the same before and after pay

And we were all still watching not knowing who would win those titles in that both spurs finals the games were good games to watch. Man dis is what is wrong with most basketball fans they were role players on the cavs. Iman and jr weren’t there to score or be the main scoring options. Iman was there for defense and jr was there to be a spot up shooter when necessary. If you actually watched them play back then they both did their roles very well for the most part. I do agree that the knicks wasn’t gon do shit tho at most they would’ve just been conference final contenders
