Even though this video is 2 yrs old it still just as relevant today. I just got this charger and even though I read through all the directions this video was a big help to understand it all. Thank You!
Being a noob in the rc jet scene can be frustrating trying to learn the ropes. Your vid was the exact opposite, quick and to the point and easy to understand, thanks!
Good demo. I need this kind of video as i just buy a imax b6 charger. Thanks.. very easy to understand. No gimicks. just a straightforward demo. I subd as well
Very informative, Thanks for the guide on the charger. The time lapse of the charge was pretty cool. I noticed you did a quick retake of what you said at around 6:40. Just lettin' you know. Also, on rare occasion, particular chargers don't interact well with particular batteries, which is something else to take into consideration when getting a charger. It's pretty uncommon, but it's much better to catch it early rather than later.
@@jbmods692 I put the battery to charge normally with the process you showed in the video and after 10 seconds it stops charging and throws me out and doesn't charge. I don't understand why this happens?😓
One thing I really don't like about this charger is: you can't charge a half-discharged NiMH battery, for example, without fully discharging it first. Whatever battery you're charging, you have to fully discharge it first. If I'm missing something about the operation of this device, please respond.
I just got the imax but what I'm trying to find is how to discharge an ebike battery The cable you're using on the negative positive side is the same connection can you make a video
Hey mate, very good question. If they battery isn't a reputable brand, I would just charge it at a max current of around 0.5amps just to be on the safer side. Then we you have done a test and know the actual capacity you can up the current.
Hi, nice video. can you please tell us how to calibrate this charger and what is that system update when i hold ENTER and then on the charger. This system update takes so much time.
I have a Life battery cell that is marked as 3.2V. This charger has the Life cell settings as 3.3V. Is there a way to change that in the charger to 3.2v?
Hi so iv got this changer and iv got a 14.8v 4s 6000mah 70c battery so what amp should I set please can't find info anywhere really appreciate if you can help
These chargers can only throughput about 60watts. So you could only charge your 6000mah 4s battery at about 4amps - NOT the 6Amps of a normal 1C charging rate. So it will just take longer.
The charger will stop charging when the battery is full. I only put mine to storage if I am not using the batter in the next day or 2. Storage is to keep the battery at its most stable storage voltage to prolong the life of the battery and is safer than storing the battery at 100% charge.
I have one like this and everything works except, charge in balance mode and balance battery . Work couple seconds and then on the screen at mah shows 0 and stay like this hours . In simple mode charge in series reach's at the end, but in balance mode charge or balance battery do nothing . You tasted yours it's ok ? Thanks
I'm pretty sure it depends on your charge rate.. If you charge at 5.2 amps it will take 1 hour.. If you charge at 2.6 amps it will take 2 hours. Does that seem right to anyone else?
@@bmzaron713 That is correct, generally you charge your batterys at 1c which is 1 x the amp hours of the battery. So a 5200mah would be 5.2amps and take 1 hour to charge.
Hi. Please can you help me out. I have a Li-ion battery 7.4V and 1500mAh. Firstly, do I select Lipo for charging? My Imax charger does not have a selection for Li-ion. I have followed your first example in your video, however, when I select Starr charging, a message appears as follows: R: 1SER S:2SER. When I select start, an error message appears Li2S Full. This is a brand new charger that I have bought and struggling. Thanks, Sean
Hey, As long as the battery chemistry is one that the charger supports it shouldn't matter on the size of the battery. It will just take a while to charge with that big of a battery since the charger is limited to 6amps I believe. Does that all make sense?
i dont have the cord for the output... i am trying to charge an 11.1v elite soldier battery for a gel blaster. Do I need both plus in or is the the pin white plug enough?
Hi, can you type the name of the cable you are using for charging? Thanks Is ths laso possible with this model to monitor the level of the charge through the App of the cellphone? Bye
I know this video is a few years old now but just a couple questions. First off, how do you know when it's charged? I ran the battery basically dead. Car was at walking speed. Put it on the charger and the 7.4v 2s lipo was already reading around 8.4v 🤷♂️. The charger seemed to still be putting power in to it. I took it off after 30 mins. Nothing seemed to have changed much numbers wise. Also I noticed in the video you started off with a 1500mah battery and you set the capacity cut off to 1500mah. Later in the video you charged a 3300mah battery and changed the charge amps to 3.3 but didn't change the capacity cutoff from 1500. Will this be a problem. I think I did the same thing switching from my 1800mah heli battery to my kids 3300mah car battery
The charger beeps and says battery is full once done. Unless you're fast charging, it's going to take longer than 30mins to charge most batteries. The 1c charge rate is to maintain battery longevity. The higher input voltage (8.4v) will be higher than the nominal voltage (7.4v) of the battery, that's normal.
i have the fake model, but reviews seem decent, anyways i want to know if i want to balance charge my power bank, do i need to desolder the cells from parallel, then set up in series? they are in parallel, 3.7v per cell.
At 8:21 in your video, it shows 5 zeros in the lower right corner -- these numbers increase over time for Pb charging -- what are they for? Not in any documentation I can find
Hey mate, those numbers are displaying how much energy has gone in or out (depending on if you are charging or discharging) in milliamp hours. Useful for seeing the actual capacity of a battery.
WHEN I CHECK MY BATTERY IT SAYS 4S.... WHEN I HAVE A 6S ..... BATTERY 5200 mAH 50C 22.2 volt but i cant find out how too change the settings to 6s ???? HOW DO I DO THAT ?
I bought one of these a while ago and it has never worked properly. It will charge up to a point then the amps will drop to 0.1 and then suddenly discharge the battery. I can leave it for hours and it won't stop. Also the voltages it shows are wrong when I test the battery with a multi meter. I have a genuine one. Just a waste of money that was highly recommended.
Hey mate, As long as the charger has the right profile for the battery type and correct connection there should be no need to mod the charger. What battery are you planning on charging?
Hi, you can not use this to charge a car battery. You need to buy a specific charger depending on the chemistry of your car battery that is designed for it. The Imax B6 has a maximum output of 50w.
@@jbmods692 but there is a option to charge lead acid battery as a Pb, i think it is possible bcoz this imax is 6 ampere, i hve tried in pb option 6 ampere 14 volt
Hey man. Just started using this today. I'm charging a NiMh 7,2 V battery for my Tamiya RC car. The battery is 3000 mAh so I set it to 3,0 A. I look at the data shown in the display while charging. At the bortom right, the mAh is showing. When it reaches 3000 it should be full. Does the charging stop automatically then? Also, top right it shows current voltage. Right now, for instance, it shows 8,73 Volts. Maybe I'm dumb but ermm... I thought a 7,2 V battery could never reach higher voltage than that exact level. What is it I don't understand?
Hey, if its a good quality battery the actual capacity will be very close to or higher than what the label says while If its a bad quality battery it could be much lower. It will automatically stop charging as soon as the fully charged voltage is reached which the charger has preprogramed in for the battery profiles. 7.2v is the nominal voltage of your battery, during loads and charging the battery will range outside this. If you have selected the correct battery chemistry on your charger, it should be doing the correct charging voltage. 8.7v does seem high to me though.
@@jbmods692 thanks for replying so fast. Upon completed charging it turned off like you said. If the voltage goes up too high during charging, is that a safety issue? The battery is all new. I did notice it got real hot during charging and stayed hot quite long.
@@magnusjohansson295 No worries, It shouldn't be hot to touch, maybe slightly warm but not hot. Reduce the current that you are charging with to 1amp or lower and see how that goes. NiMH can get hot when charging at higher currents. Double check you are using the right chemistry profile on the charger aswell.
I keep getting the message “connection break” does anyone know what that means? Cause it won’t do anything after that so I can’t charge my battery. Keeps me that message every time
Unless your unit is broken, it means that you have a bad connection in the way you have your battery plugged in. If you are trying to charge 2-cell and up Lipos you MUST have BOTH the main +/- leads AND the white multi pin Balance leads plugged into the correct sockets on the charger. It could also mean you have a very bad cell (or wiring break) in your battery. Check it with a cell checker.
Hi man I watched your video but it didn"t answer my probmems :/ I bought the Imax B6 (for some reason it's black and not blue And I am facing multiple problems: When I try to "BALANCE CHARGE", it auto-detect as 2S and even when it's blinking I can't change the value to 3S-4S-5S-6S The chager never match the cell number of my battery no matter which mode I'm in : I plug my 6S battery in and it detects 2S On other charging modes; I can force the 6S but then, before I start the charge, it says " R = 4SER S= 6SER " If I force the charge like so ( R = 4SER S= 6SER) the Battery voltage actually goes down as time goes by Do you have any idea of a fix ? Or did i receive a faulty chager ?

Need help I am new in this field I have two questions 1. How much time it takes to full charge 3s 5200mah lipo 30c? 2. It says 3.7v on battery as wel on imax charger menu, but it goes to 3.84v and sometimes 4v is it safe or normal?
Hey mate, a fully charged lipo cell will be at 4.2v so yes those voltages are fine. I wouldn't leave it in that fully charged state for extended periods of time, only have it fully charged just before a gameday and discharge it to a storage voltage after. As for charging times it all depends on your charge rate. Charging at 1c which in your case is 5.2amps it will take 1 hour to fully charge from flat.
