The elected clowns ran the club, everything from the values, morals and especially the finances to the ground. This time around last year Messi sent a fax asking Barca to let him go as he had enough. The clown President didn't want to be known as the guy who let Messi go. So Messi was forced to stay. Then Joan Laporta, who was club prez from 2003-2010 (Very successful era) got re-elected as presi. He has a great relationship with Messi. Messi wanted to stay. The club wanted him. Both parties wanted to do everything possible. But barca's finances are so fucked from years of BS that the Spanish league blocked Barcelona from registering him as we are WAYYYYYY over the wage cap. Messi couldn't have possibly had a wage cut of more than 50% even if he wanted to because of an employment law in Spain. Messi had Growth Hormone Deficiency as a child in Argentina. A club scout saw him and asked the club to sign him. The club brought him to Barcelona promising him to pay for his treatment as Messi's family was poor. He's now been at the club for 21 years of his life. He's emotionally attached to the club, the city, the people. Moreover, he really was happy and looking excited to sign that deal. All of this and outta nowhere getting to know that he cant sign a deal led to him being absolutely devastated just like millions of Barcelona fans like me.
