For the immigration status expiry that's both in the questionnaire and form, is that the 6-month mark after you enter Canada? Or the visa expiry itself? For example, I got multiple visitor visa which is valid for 8 years (until 2031), then I arrived in Canada in Nov 2023. When I answer the questionnaire and the form, should I use the 2031 expiry or the 6-month mark after I arrived which is May 2024?

However, when I submitted my husbands PR application there was a question that is asking if we would like IRCC to consider my husband for an open work permit while we wait for a decision on the PR application and it asked us for the work permit/open work permit holder fees that we paid along with the PR application fees. My question is, do we still need to submit this IMM5710 form? If so, I tried to start a separate application for Open Work Permit and followed this video but it was asking me to pay the fees again (which I already have). Thanks in advance.
This is something a lot of people have been struggling with. Unfortunately they have not fixed this yet. yes you pay again. they will refund the previous amount eventually. you were not supposed to pay for owp when you did the spousal sponsorship. so, pay again, for owp, then wait, once they process your application they will issue the refund. if they dont, you can simply request it yourself once you get the owp. in any case, you will not lose that money

What if you ARE working on an open work permit, and you want to extend, for the employment TO date, what date do you use? Will it be the same date of my spouse (primary applicant) student permit extension request? (The thing is I plan to work for much longer at this employer). Again, what TO date will I use, or should I just leave it blank?
Usually you’ll get your work permit for the period of time that your spouse’s visa is valid. So you can use the end date of their visa as your TO date. When you submit your application you can provide additional details in a separate word document about this to make it totally clear the officer

because work permit or TRV is a temporary visa. you can't select "permanently" on a temporary visa application(even though you may intend to stay permanently). Stick with the requirements of the type of application you are doing.
If you’re Applying for same employer then does it mean that you can’t work for other employers?? I mean can we switch jobs if we get a better job offer? Please advise. I hope selecting same employer won’t make it a closed work permit

Hello and thank you for your excellent video. There is an issue with OWP fees. I applied for inland PR sponsorship and paid the OWP fees at that stage. I received the AOR and now, to complete the OWP application, the system force me to pay the fees again. Any suggestion? Thank you again.

technically, you should have mentioned the brief description as it’s given in the instruction page. But not much you can do now. you’ll just have to wait for the response. hopefully, they take this as a minor issue and let it go.

It won't accept it, giving me an error message stating: "Your status expiry date in the answer you provided previously does not correspond to the Restoration in your form. Modify your answers or the value in your form." I've triple checked and I've made no such error/inconsistency. I even re-submitted a fresh form thinking it was a glitch, but I keep getting this message. It's super frustrating and I don't know what more to do. Do you have any ideas?

Question 3 where you have to check the box that corresponds to which condition you're applying for a work permit under - the only acceptable answer was "applying for a work permit for the first time" . Check only this one. Once I fixed that, it worked for us. My wife got her work permit one month ago now. Good luck to you and I hope I could help.

Hi! We applied the spousal sponsorship thus november. We already got the AOR and planning to apply the work permit online. When we applied for the PR, we also paid 155 for the work permit. But in the work permit application it says that we also have to pay for the work permit holder fee 100, so the total that we have to pay is $255. Is there any way for us to just pay for $100 since we already paid the $155 along with the PR. Thank you!

When I go on my ircc account it just does not show me the button for "Visitor visa or work permit" it only shows the EE option. how do i navigate in order to get to apply work permit? my Condition - I already have an open work permit but it has a condition that i can not work in healthcare even though I studied to be an optician that is under healthcare. I understand I need to fill out the form and select other and explain in form the condition that needs to be removed but I can not seem to get to the point where I can actually file the application. if you already have an open application in ircc secure account, try deleting it and starting a fresh application for OPW, then all options will show up

You can certainly try for TRV and if successful, apply for sowp from inside canada. Or you can wait, let her reach canada and then apply under sowp outside canada. both options available. It's upto to you to make either one work
