This was very interesting. I think it would promote more understanding of Traditional Chinese practices if you included a description of what you were doing and why. I do realize I could look this up myself, and I intend to, but with so much information online, I’d hate to accept a lie as truth.

To be truthful, I could not do this myself because I would stress over doing each step and cleaning carefully. However, I find the art and history of incense fascinating and peaceful. There's something calming knowing that this practice could be (and probably is) used as a form of patience (like a lesson in of itself).

I don't know, but I do use ashes from previous burnings. To get started I got ashes from burning a piece of wood out of the burner, and so on...

A video about incense really doesn't capture the point of incense, does t? I mean, cool vid and all, but if one doesn't have some cognitive dissonance after watching this, then I'd say you should watch it over and over until one does.

Yt deleted my whole reply and I'm furious so now you get the shitty short reply instead- the incense is the end product and not actually the point, because the point was having something to do 2,000+ years ago if you were rich and had tons of time to kill. And even before getting to this preparation point, you would also spend time formulating new incense to likely show off at incense parties (both men and women did this, see "tale of genji") so that killed even more time. The incense was just a byproduct of an activity in a world without smart phones and video games. The point is that it was something to *do*.
