Immigrant Song is NOT a fun rock song. It's dark AF. They marketed it as a fun song by using it in the score for Thor Ragnarok. But until then anybody who knew and listened to the Immigrant song viewed it as a dark twisted masterpiece depicting the bloody history of the viking conquests and their voyage to English shores.
Karen Carpenter? Who is this Karen anyway ? Honestly I don't think I have ever heard of her before. I'm not trying to be ignorant, just don't know the lady.
The best covers do more than just a glorified karaoke version. The best covers make the cover a new version of the song. Jessica Simpsons version of These Boots Were Made for Walking is terrible because she's doing essentially a karaoke version. On the other hand this is good because Karen O and Trent Reznor have made a new version of an existing song.
All hail the mighty Led Zeppelin...! Those guys knew how to write music. All these years and that song is still fantastic! Awesome cover! Karen O and crew does an amazing job, I love it! 😁
This is one of the greatest covers ever, it makes the song it's own, it's kinda of ironic, because the greatest cover of all time(Hurt by Johny Cash)was a Trent Reznor song.
@@dracoargentum9783 Led Zeppelin have already done at least one great cover and probably several. "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You". Listen to the original and then listen to Led Zeppelin's version. In my opinion, the original is terrible, and the cover is brilliant. I think "In My Time Of Dying" might be another cover that is considerably better than the original. Outside of Led Zep, I would also rate Jimi Hendrix "All Along The Watchtower" one of the best, to go along with the aforementioned "Hurt" by Johnny Cash. This version of "Immigrant Song" is very good too, not sure it would crack my top 5 though. I would have to give it some more thought.
@@kentmartin9289 If you compiling a top 5 of best covers, I think you might wanna take a listen to this cover of Elton John's "Yellow Brick Road" ... Sara Bareilles has an amazing voice, and on this one it's bulls eye in her delivery: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-eAti8JNmJi8.html
I am one of the biggest Zeppelin fans around. I was scared when I first heard of this remake but now that I hear it they make this song their own and do Zeppelin justice!! Love the darker vibe this puts off!!!
NIN's last album The Bad Witch was pretty good even if short! It would be nice for YYYs to come back, it's been a few years and last time they toured was 2 years ago.
Messofanego One of my biggest regrets is not seeing either of them live. They don't really come to the Southeast U.S much so it would always be very hard to see them.
There is something truly great that makes this multiple things looking at it, this is practically the official video for this terrific awesome track, not to mention one of the finest intros to film period.
Honestly, this is one of the few covers i adore, i listen to both a lot as well :))) I used to be an avid Zeppelin listener when i was a teenager, later i started listening to Nine Inch Nails, so this is for me a kind of a dream that came true :) Trent Reznor was clever enough just to give a little modern touch to the song, without changing the awesomeness :P
Great remake of a classic Led Zeppelin song from 1970. As soon as this kicked in at the beginning of the movie, I knew that I was going to be in for an awesome ride. Wow!
This is my favorite Zeppelin cover I have ever heard, I think. The graphics are very cool too. It's impossible to outdo LZ but taking a different approach like this can totally crush!
DGDSN this is 1st time I got the lyrics!I mean just through the fucking song.LZ messed it up,epic lyrics,? tone down instruments,we know you can PLAY. arrogant pricks.
How does this just now show up on my recommended list... Thanks, I guess, YT algorithm. Sometimes you do something right, 9 years late but you got there!
For me, the Led Zeppelin version is a dark, atmospheric and twisted ROCK SONG.... This Karen O version is just a dark, atmospheric and twisted SONG. That's why I like them both but respond more to the fury in the Karen O version.
Immigrant Song Lyrics [Intro] (2, 3, 4) [Chorus] Ahh! Ahh! We come from the land of the ice and snow From the midnight sun where the hot springs flow [Verse 1] The hammer of the gods Will drive our ships to new land To fight the horde, sing and cry Valhalla, I am coming [Refrain] On we sweep with threshing oar Our only goal will be the western shore [Chorus] Ahh! Ahh! We come from the land of the ice and snow From the midnight sun where the hot springs flow [Verse 2] How soft your fields so green Can whisper tales of gore Of how we calmed the tides of war We are your overlords [Refrain] On we sweep with threshing oar Our only goal will be the western shore [Verse 3] So now you'd better stop And rebuild all your ruins For peace and trust can win the day Despite of all your losing [Outro] Ooh ooh ooh, ooh ooh, ooh ooh Ooh ooh ooh, ooh ooh, ooh ooh Ooh ooh ooh, ooh ooh, ooh ooh Ah, ah Ooh ooh ooh, ooh ooh, ooh ooh Ooh ooh ooh, ooh ooh, ooh ooh
Great cover of a classic Zeppelin song by the great combo of Karen O, Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross for an amazzing remake of an awesome movie!!!! GWDT!!!!!!!!!! i wish i could like this video 6,000 more times.
I remember the movie having some sort of Immigrant Song cover at the beginning, but I somehow never realized that it's by Karen O and Trent Reznor. But I watched the movie twice and a long time ago. Good thing it ended up in my recommended eventually.
@xodiak: You mean Strong Bad Copied Badly? He didn't even make the tune, damned dumb fool! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-n41u5nOsuBM.html No David Fincher listed in the credits of that. But Fincher made exactly one (1) good movie anyway, but it's not Strong Bad Copied Badly. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-V8XTpCwicwE.html
I knew this was going to be a fantastic movie the moment i saw and heard this opening. Ive always been in amazement of you trent, now make more good music!
Obviously no one can top the original but Reznor gave his touch to this classic and it's a great fit for the film it was featured in. The opening sequence was rather hmm... eccentric. It depends on how you see it.
