Interesting perspective from an outsider, but most Mexicans don’t consider him a failure because they aren’t concerned with the drug epidemic or the migration crisis in the US to put it bluntly. Mexico has problems of their own aside from organized crime believe it or not, and you will be left alone anyway for the most part as long as you don’t get involved with the criminals in the first place, for the average citizen at least. AMLO has pretty much course shifted us away from an oligarch-run country who sells Mexico’s resources to their most generous benefactors and spend their tax money on luxury goods and private jets, to one were our resources are our own and contribute to the well being of the citizens. He also stands up for us on the political and commercial stage, like refusing the US’ deal to sell us genetically modified pig feed as corn which is a big part of our diet, and pushing back against predatory companies that abuse the environment like Vulcan Materials. He has given us hope and an ideal of excellence to strive for

You made ZERO mention of the US’s side of the problem - the endless amount of drug cash & illegal guns flowing into Mexico from the US. Mexico wouldn’t have violent criminal organizations if there weren’t a huge demand from American drug addicts & illegal American weapons flowing into Mexico due to the US’s non-existent gun laws to prohibit the purchase of guns by arms dealers. So what has the US done to solve that problem - nothing. In fact, buying guns in Texas has never been even easier. And since when has the US been dealing with drug addicts and apparently this is AMLO’s problem now? The US has had drug addict issues since before Escobar. Has AMLO’s national security been a failure, yes, big time. But is he to blame for the US’s problems? No. Not until the US starts to actually stop the flow of illegal guns & cash that fuel violence in Mexico. Funny how you guys always like to talk about illegal migration toward the US from the South, yet you never mention how the US screw Central American economies & politics during the Cold War - which is what has led to so much illegal migration in the first place.

It is not only Haitians and Central Americans, but also Cubans and Venezuelans who have a political, social and economic crisis that is happening there in those countries. But do not emigrate to Chile or the United States, Brazil, Canada, Peru and Mexico, those countries have many problems migrating to countries like Uruguay, Paraguay, Guyana, Trinidad and Tobago, Belize, Suriname, Costa Rica and Panama. Now there is a program so that migrants, when you show up at the border between the United States and Mexico, can apply or they can take you to go to Spain, Greece, Italy and Canada between those governments. With a big immigration problem in Mexico.

I live in Mexico. It’s not just drugs. in many parts of the country they act with impunity, extorting shopkeepers, offices, home owners. In the state of Guerrero (and surly many other places), they demand a monthly protection fee from schools based on number of students enrolled. The cartels are now de facto owners of huge swathes of Mexican territory. Ordinary people in towns all over Guerrero, Durango, Michoacán, Chihuahua, and even the central part of Mexico (the Bajio), particularly the state of Guanajuato, live in perpetual fear, not daring to leave home after nightfall. The cartels have metastasized, with their tentacles now everywhere. In my town, people were sent messages by the mayor that they shouldn’t use the main road after 10:30 PM, as this is when Nuevo Jalisco soldiers do what they do. So trust me, it ain’t just about drugs. When criminals are given a free hand or, in this case, “hugs”, they metastasize.

On the other hand it's mostly problem of the US. It's much easier to find drug dealers who offer it than to find hidden factories or to check every traffic. Let alone understand any?? That’s crazy , people do this … People RU-vid’REPORT on where you live at , on what you do know and you do understand.. make local reports .. Crazy tho people see what’s popin , what’s draws the attention Right )(well they want some of that shine , some of that spot light , they wanna be noticed or see by another man’s shine of Glory !!! From an outsider's perspective and looking only at the stats, it may seem true that he didn't accomplish a lot. However, he is the first presidente who was capable of bringing hope and unity to the country which is already a big deal in a society with such a massive wealth inequality. AMLO stood his ground protecting mexican lithium and oil from the northern predators, he built strategic infraestructure and laid out a plan for a systemic transformation that will take more than one presidential term to come to fruition. He did a good job and that's why he is so popular!

I'm just going to ignore the habitual imperialistic threat to tell you that in reality, Mexican citizens have more rights and therefore more freedom than US citizens. This is a fact that is painfully obvious to outsiders but -for some reason- ignored by US citizens. It's almost as if "someone or something" wouldn't want their citizens to know the truth. It makes you wonder.

Any attempt to do so would be nothing more than pandering as the cartel isn't Mexico's demon to slay. It's fueled by American money, American guns and it's American market share. It can only be defanged by a change in American policy.
