If you don't have 4 keys to program, you can exit the auto programming mode by pumping the brake pedal 5 times. Then the security light will start functioning like normal.
Binh, thanks so much for making this video. You really, really helped me. I was able to take notes from your video and Dr. Shock's and successfully programmed 4 keys. In my particular case it was on a 2001 Lexus LX470 but it had the same 16-bit eprom (IC900 on the board) and everything worked the same way. The trick was getting the USB driver to work on laptop and making sure the clip was making proper contact with the chip (R/W light on the CH341A).
Great video. Online forums just tell you that the ECU is bad and needs replacing! I’ve just purchased an 1999 Lexus GS300. It only came with one aftermarket key and now it’s won’t start. Security light is blinking red. So think I’ll try this to clear all the previous keys coded in.
Hi Everyone. Clearing keys didn’t work. But my son found a work around. Here it is: 1. Try and start car once. 2. If it doesn’t start, turn ignition off and back on again. BUT do not try to start. 3. Wait 7 minutes. 4. Ignition off and on again. But this time try and start it. This worked for us. I suspect the 7 minute wait is an anti theft feature. But it times out.
That’s for 4d chips not 4c, to turn of the light it needs four keys. With that said it won’t hurt anything with it blinking. But to turn it off you could use any glass 4c chip even if your friend has the same car you can stick it into the ignition and it will save it and not mess his key/car starting his car.
FYI; Some Toyota's from early 2000's will exit the (virgin ECU) automatic registration/programming mode after pressing brake pedal 5 times within 15 seconds.
hey love your videos they help me a lot when it comes to my 99 gs300. what are the odds of you making a specific video on how to set up the programmer for dummies like me that dont understand wtf dr shock is saying lol
For some reason I couldn’t get the programmer to read the chips. I was just switching from auto to manual I just desoldered the chips and switched them and worked out for me.
Hey Binh, I've been following your channel for 2 years now and you've been a great help on piecing together my w58 MK3 Manual swap in my 2002 IS300. I needed to ask you if a 2004-2005 manual ecu will work with a 2002 IS300. I know their are slight differences in the part numbers but I'm assuming 02-05 manual ecu should all work because the harness is the same. If you could give me a for sure answer that would awesome, because I plan on picking up the 2004 manaul ecu as my last part of the swap for only $100 without keys!
I thank for the video it's really helpful. I'm in a situation now where I have 2 Toyota Cressidas (The last two generations), 3UZ-FE with 5-speed auto transmission and 3UZ FE with steptronic 6-speed transmission. We have the original engines' ECUs for each engine. We have also 1 extra ECU that comes with gas pedal, a key, contact. It's missing the immobilizer's ECU. What is the cheapest and fastest way to run these 2 engines please?
Amazing video! I followed your instructions and got two masters and my valet working, but im having trouble programming the key fob to get the keyless entry working. The car is still in the programming mode (because is didnt have a third master for it to learn). Could that be the reason? Should i try again when the ecu gives up and goes back to normal?
Remotes are a different control module. I have a video on programming remotes. Posted last week. Immobilizer programming mode will exit if it doesn’t get all the keys.
Thank for this information, but I have a question; can you delete the 900 completely for the ecu system? I have an 1996 an swapping in a 2005 engine with its ecu.
I heard if you program the ecu in Learn mode or virginized then unplug the immobilizer key reader any key will start and run the ecu (this has to be verified!) Lmk if this works please!

Hi, great video much appreciated. You mentioned video on how to set the CH341 for automobles, but I cannot find it. Do you have a link to this video please. Many thanks
Thanks, Binh - great video! Learned a lot from watching your HEX analysis of the keys. You mentioned something in this video about another video you made regarding the CH341A Programmer and some things you had to do to it (or your system) to make it work. I scoured the videos on your channel but must confess I was unable to find the video that discusses the programmer. Can you point me in the direction of that video, please? Thanks!
Hi Binh. Thanks again for a great video. Love the channel. So I got a 2008 is250 a few weeks back, and it only came with one key. I’d like to use this eeprom method to Virginise the relevant ECU so I can add a used key I got my hands on. My question is, are you aware of how to do this same virginise process in an is250? I suspect it may not be the ECU that needs to be worked on, but the “smart box”, which I think is in the boot. Any thoughts?
@@TunerwithKids this video was awesome!!!!! I tried this on my BMW 3 series 2016 but it didn't work as I bought the car with no keys can you suggest what I need to do to programme new keys to the car ? And what tools I will need ? Many thanks from the UK
Would this process work on 2006 is250? This car has a separate immobiliser module (ID Code Box) that has an eeprom, so could you do the same on there instead of the ECU, and then perform the OBD pin short "handshake"?
Awesome detailed video. I have a Mercedes 190SL with 2007 Yaris drivetrain. This car was running with a regular non chip key but since I changed some of the wiring, now I get code B2799 (Immobilizer System). So I have no ignition or fuel. Is it possible to program this ecu to run with a regular key which does not have a chip?
@@TunerwithKids hit me up on Facebook, I am the founder/main admin for Altezza/IS300 Forced Induction Global Group, prob easier to chat there than RU-vid lol
Thank you for a nice video. I would like to replace my car engine with one type 3.0 V6 D-4 i-Four (immobilized) toyota crown royal but there was not any key for a new engine . Is possible to rmove or replace it by free ECU.
@@TunerwithKids Thanks, I mean if swap Mercedes engine w124 with another one type 3.0 V6 D-4 i-Four. Is possible to start engine with out immobilizer code?
This is fascinating. Do you know if this solution would work on a Lexus hybrid? My dad's RX400h has been sitting in his drive for 5 years as he lost all of his keys for it.
@@TunerwithKids Thanks for the response. Unfortunately, we're in the UK and Lexus have quoted £2000 for the fix. They want to replace the immobiliser. He even had people out to see what they could do and one guy messed about with it for hours outside. Ultimately he got a key to turn on the dash, but couldn't unlock the immobiliser and actually start the car. I just wondered, after watching your video, if maybe we'd found a better - less expensive - solution. Thanks anyway. I'll keep digging.
hmmb interesting. Im in a situation where I only have a valet key programmed to the car, and I have a master key that is cut but not programmed to the car. and from what I know and have experienced is that you can only program new keys to a lexus using the pedal dance method when using a master key as the host key. the pedal dance method doesnt work with a valet key. I watched this video but im just not quite familiar or up to scratch with some of the terminology mentioned.
This is next level stuff. You are hacking the EEPROM to wipe it and telling the ECU it’s brand new and accept the fist three keys it sees as master and 4th as valet on the IS300. Probably same for most Lexus of this era.
@Rally Ranch Motorsport , I have exactly same scenario for my Prado. Did you figure out how to program master and additional keys when you only have a valet key ? Thx
Looking at the video about rewriting the immobilizer eprom. I am looking for this kind of info about the RKE for my 2006 Camry. Do you have any guidance ? Thanks
I just lost my last key (06 prius with smart key system) will following these steps allow me to bypass the immo and program a new master key? Thank you, very quality content.
So this is a lot of work, I'm not experienced in this kind of thing and I don't wanna screw it up. Is it possible to pay a dealership or something to have this done or do I have to do this myself to run a manual ecu?
How did you know which chip to read and the number of the chip, i am looking to do Audi - VW cars and i have the xhorse chip reader, just need to work out how to use it, great video thanks
Hi mate, thank you for this very good video. I lost all keys from my Prado 2019, will this way work with my Prado? I suppose my car could have different ECU and key chips.
Hey does it matters if the sunroof is tilt up cause mines stuck and want go down .hopefully that want interfere with programming. i been tryimg to program my key but dont know if im doing it correct.
Please help. I have a Lexus Is250 that I am working on I replace the engine I replace the push to start modules and the ECU is brand new from the dealership also I replace the immobilizer that’s in the dash I checked the vehicle with the scan tool from the mechanic and I have no codes but the vehicle is in security mode the security light is flashing and the immobilizer needs to be program that’s in the dashboard it is from another vehicle that I know is good. I would like to know how to program the immobilizer that is in the dash so that the security light will go off and my vehicle will start right now it will not start and there is no one locally in my big city that knows how to program an immobilizer
Toyota Lexus would have to seed the ECU with an unlock from corp. usually they don’t like to do this. They’ll just make you buy a new $1,200 ECU plus a new $500 key which they can program easily out the box.
Hey Binh, great video! Are you still considering a video about setting up the CH341A programmer? I would greatly appreciate it! :) Greetings from Germany
pleasae help me it looks like you know yr stuff. my situation is i dont have all the fancy gadget and software for this. i have a 1998 lexus and need to start my car without chip. i have the whole key just not the chip that was located on top of key
hi everybody! i bought a brand new ECU for my vauxhall astra 1.7cdti with the same part number as old one,but i dont know if the new ECU"s come out from factory with the software already written on it ,or first it need to be downloaded by a garage technician, and after programmed to my car??? for programming its enough if i have the security code of my car? yhx!
Hello, my 1jz engine I got came with a Ecu with inmobilizer, should clearing all keys solve my issue? it came with no keys I just want to make the engine start with out keys, thank you
Is the only thing that prevents another ECU from working in your vehicle is the immobilizer function and whether it will allow keys to work in the ignition? IOW, after this is done, the new ECU will work perfectly in the vehicle, right? Nothing else is necessary, right? I have an all keys lost situation on a USA Lexus RX300 and I'm going to see if an XTool D7 will program a new key without swapping out the ECU. If it doesn't work, I might be following this path.
Hi Binh, Finally the guy and video I've been looking for on RU-vid. I understand what you were doing but I still have a couple of questions you might be able to help me with. I own a 2018 Camry. I have the two original keys and they work fine. I bought a third blank key from a place in Florida name Locksmith Keyless. I own a LAUNCH X.431 scanner which has the ability to program keys. I cut the new key and inserted it into the car's ignition. I used the scanner to program the new key. Now I can use the buttons on the key to open and close the doors and the trunk as well as the alarm. What I can't do with this key is start the car. It will crank ok but won't start. I see from the scanner that I can only have three (3) keys programed. Question. should I still be able to try to reprogram the third key or do I have to erase all the keys in order to reprogram the last one as well as the two originals? From your video it looks like the car reads the key and writes the code it get from the key into the IC900. If this is the case there is nothing in the key that has to be erased but rather the ECU clears the memory and writes the key codes into those memory locations? I this correct? You mentioned that you found or have some technical information about how the immobilizer system works can you share this information or tell me where to get it? Sorry for the long message but I want to give you enough information so you might be able to help me with this problem key, i.e. why it wont start the engine yet still allows the LOCK and UNLOCK etc to work after programming. Thanks David
Your best bet is to get techstream to program keys. If they are regular remote keys, it’s two processes to program. 1. Remote (easy), 2. Immobilizer (tricky). I have a video for 2012 Camry. If smart key, i have video for Avalon, probably same process for 2018 Camry.
I thought Locksmith Keyless was a great place to by keys so I stocked up on a lot of inventory from them, but now that I have been trying to program many these keys that I bought, I have been shafted on a countless bases, especially, if they were bought in a 10 pack from Locksmith Keyless. Honda and Dodge keys from there failed practically every time... I lost out on several jobs where I traveled 50 miles or more from home and the keys I cut would not program.. I Paid the price for an ILCO from a near by locksmith in the next town and they programed perfectly each and every time... Just Saying... Don't use junk keys if you travel away from the home folks...
Hi Binh, I bought a used Rav4 from an auction with no keys available, do you think if I reset the keys to zeros as you’ve shown, I’ll be able to get the car to recognize a brand new key? Given that I don’t have any key for that car. I appreciate your help.
Hi Binh! Great video, I am in the process of doing this but when i am in asprogrammer I keep getting IC not responding. I am a little stumped at getting this to work i made sure i had continuity on all the wires. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Any idea if I would be able to program an aftermarket key fob? The OEM 2 button key fobbfor my Altezza is discontinued. Tempted to try and link a LEXUS key fob to it.
Should work, the key immobilizer is a “4c” chip used by many cars and brands. The remote portion is different computer and programs differently. Most all Toyota use the same frequency and chips.
Hey I have a Lexus key but the transponder chip is bad. Can I buy a new transponder chip, use my old key in the new case, and reset my immobilizer to match the new chips code?
the transponder needs to be programmed to the car. The chip is highly unlikely to go bad. Its a passive device that doesn't have any real "moving" parts or power.
@@TunerwithKids this seems like a massive oversight on lexus' part, the fact that the immobilizer can literally shut down your car but can still be reset if a thief has the know-how. i guess they didnt anticipate being able to hack it in 25 years
@@4NDR01D5 yes there is but mine has immobilizer and all crown VX's had immobilizers and now my crown had a crown vx ecu. Only 300 of them out there and they made more power from factory, breaking the gentleman's agreement. Higher boost cut and more aggressive ignition table.
Great video would that work with the ls430 2002 I've lost all my keys for this car, but I've got another ls430 with 3 keys I was wondering if I can make them keys work on both cars?
Hey Binh, I have a manual ECU with no keys and it's the last part of my swap. I wanted to try this method to get keys programmed but I don't think I have the technical skills to modify the EEPROM Programmer to read the cars IC900. Is there any way to buy an EEPROM Programmer modded already, or is there an alternative method to reseeding the Immobilizer possibly with techstream you are aware of?
Hello, could you please help me with a Lexus Is350 2006 that turns on the immobilizer and I cannot use it, I am already frustrated because I have spent a lot of money on mechanics trying to solve the problem, the last time it only worked for 2 months and now I have the same problem .
@@TunerwithKids I replaced the ECU but the problem persists, with the new ECU it only worked for two months, the person who inspected my vehicle told me that the problem is not the ECU, it even worked with the old ECU
Ok I need help a imposter locksmith stole my ECU and key to 1998 Avalon XLS can I got to scrap yard and get a 98 ECU and the transponder key immobilized and ignition ring and then reprogram or …..help me please thanks it’s my only car right now
Hey, can you tell me if the virginize code works on an 01 IS300 ecu? The chip is the same and I've read the contents. The keys appear to be stored in a slightly different arrangement, but the virginize code matches up if I zero out the other cells. The cells with values that you didn't change to zeros match up, but I had to zero out additonal cells that didn't have values in the 02+ ecu chip. Let me know your thoughts on this.
The programmer should be in the description box of video. I actually have a more detailed video about the programmer in my IS300 cluster program video. Check that out.
@@TunerwithKids thanks for replying! Ik that’s great I just wanted to know what number I know the immobilizer is ic900 just wanted to know which number the data chip was
my issue wound up being cel B2796 bad communication with the Key /immobilizer . apparently my key didn’t work and the security light stayed on flashing. next day all of a sudden it started working again 🤷🏻♂️
