Very useful video mdm....I am always in dilemma whether to go for TT vaccination or not though I completed 3 doses of primary immunization 8 years back and in last 8 years for minor or major cuts I have atleast had 6 to 8 shots... please continue upload videos like this in future also....thank you..
thanks madam, excellent presentation. I have one doubt, if adult patient came with tetanus prone wound & he had taken all previous vaccination as per schedule (3 primary + 1 dose at 1.5/5/10/16 year) but now there is more than 5 year gap since last dose, then still he will need booster dose at present?
Excellent... Please clear my doubt mam. .suppose a12 years old child who has taken previous 3 doses and now has tetanus prone injury.. Which one will be administerd TT, Td or Tdap... Please clear this TT, Td and Tdap confusion in case of tetanus prone wound..i am still confused.. Thanks
If you are looking at tetanus prophylaxis post injury tt is enough...but Td preferred since he has missed the 10 year td in this scenario.who recommends Td in all scenarios where TT indicated. Tdap is a personal choice may be given but significant pertussis efficacy lasts for only 3 years post vaccination...
Hello doctor..I had a very minor cut with a rusty metal got two drops of blood from my finger on Jan 1 this year..I had washed it with a soap and applied tincture and then I cleaned it then covered it with a medical hansaplast after two days my cut was healed from past two days I am getting lite fever followed by body pain but no jaw pain..no vomiting/diarrhoea.. I took some antibiotics but I googled it symptoms but Google showing me possible infection of tetanus..I didn't took tetanus shot in my life.. 7days passed after injury & injury healed but I'm not sure about infection do I need to worry please reply me
Very informative. Thank you ma'am. I had received tt 3 yr back, 1 year back and last month, now do i have immunity for 5 years. Age 36. Childhood vaccine status not known
Yes you are considered protected for next 5 years... But ideally WHO advices unimmunised adolescents and adults to take 5 doses for long term protection. 0,1mo, 6mo followed by two further TT boosters at 1 year interval for long term protection.
Madam, I took 2 TT in last Feb 22 and August 22 due to minor injury... but again in last Dec 22 I had an small road accident by motorcycle.. fell down and got small wound in elbow and knee..again I took one shot.. that means 3 shot in 10 months...local pharmacist told me to complete the course from the date of third I took ( ie. after 4 weeks and the booster after 6 month...madam, Is it necessary ???. ... but after hearing you , it's clear to me regarding TT
Here the third dose is taken after 4 months.... Though third after six months is preferable.... Four month interval is valid... It would be preferable to take a booster 1 year later for long term protection
No long gap does not interfere with protection. In fact longer the gap better is the protection due to affinity and avidity maturation of antibodies. Memory cells once formed is there for a second better immune response.
Doctor I had taken tetanus jab in 2015, 2018 and 2020 .... And more than 5 times times before 2015 is it now required to get a jab now in 2022 when I have an injury?
Your last jab has been in 2020 with more than five previous doses... That means you are protected against tetanus completely for next five years....between five to 10 years also for minor wounds you don't require Td. In case you have a tetanus prone injury after 5 years you can take a Td
Dear Mam, I Debojit Mallick 34+ I have seen your video on youtube. (Immunisation FAQs: Tetanus Toxoid by Dr. Sheeja Sugunan) it is very informative. but I want to know about my vaccination status. I do not know my tetanus vaccination status or guess unimmunized I have taken 1 TT injection on 18th June 2022 for a small cut on my finger then took a 2nd TT injection on 22 October 2022 for a small cut on my leg is it give me any protection for some time? and when I take my 3rd dose please guide me.
Thank you mam.. mam if a child of 3.5 year ( immunised uptodate for age)comes with tetanus prone injury and given TT in the casualty , do we need to giv TT at 5 year of age as DPT booster wil have TT which is given at 5 year of age?what to do in such situations?
As you rightly pointed out the child in fact didn't need TT... But it's already given... Pertussis and diphtheria protection are important at 5 years so we need to give DPT.. WHO says an extra dose TT may be given if physician deems necessary in high risk situations... In this situation also important to educate parent about no need for further extra doses.. In between scheduled doses in future.
