Theoretically, if a person eliminates all mutagenic factors, will the stages of oncogenesis eventually reverse or reset? Ex: Cervical cancer takes 10-20 years of “precancerous” conditions before true cancerous proliferation occurs. Let's say that, after ~15 years of continuous exposure to mutagens, a person completely eliminates all exposure to mutagens and lives a generally healthy life for 10 years. If, after that, they expose themselves to the same mutagens, will they develop cancer within ~5 years, or 10, or 20? When/how, if at all, does the “precancerous clock” effectively reset to 0?
For individual cells, it will never reset to zero. Mutations may occur in every cell devision, even without any mutagens. Mutagens just enhance the rate of mutations occuring. But it is possible that cells for which the “precancerous clock” was already ticking, get cleared by the immune system or through apoptosis. And this clearing can be supported by fasting and exercise.
If cancers takes “decades to develop” then explain pediatric oncology treating two year olds with malignant tumors? That evidences de facto parental child abuse.
