Hey Sleeves, hope all is well buddy. Just wanted to get your insight about the psychology of a HUT player and the misalignment with how EA is approaching it. I dont think this is just me, but I'm mainly nms until there is a good value pack that comes out that will help to obtain the chase cards, such as the guaranteed mid-tier icon pack last year. I grind quite a bit and consider spending money when there is something of value that helps to get me over the final hurdle of a long term goal. This year with the long term goals being so unattainable, I just don't see that I'll ever have the desire to spend money as I won't be near finishing them for months. That's why I don't understand how EA nuking rewards is in their best interest, it'll just discourage and disincentivise the community from spending money. The whales will always whale, but the fish won't always fish.

Hey Sleeves hope the weather is nice in Canada. If there is anything EA should add to make the grind better and maybe easier is they bring back wins streak rewards for rivals. And add it to squad battles. Let's say for every 20 squad battles wins on superstar and you receive a choice pack of ultimate pack or a guaranteed of 5 82+ or 20 75+ and it's tradeable. And it's the same as in rivals but you get better rewards the better division you're in. Keep up the great work.

Exactly to your point, This year has the best selection of chase cards with the Holo Icons and nobody can get them its quite sad. I think this year could have the most diversity on teams but lack of rewards handcuffs the player base to all use the same cards.

Thanks for answering my question Sleeves! Trying to keep it short but I think CFB has the closest to perfect ultimate team so far… Especially how it was at launch. Online has exclusive rewards. Offline has exclusive rewards. The “field pass” (XP) has good packs AND exclusive cards only available on the path. Packs are fair. I’ve spent maybe 30-40 total hours on UT there since launch and have a solid team. It’s an EA game… can’t the NHL guys just talk to the CFB guys? lol. HUT would be perfect with this formula. The “elite” online players could do their thing. The offline folks can do their thing. People who do both as well. Maybe I’m just ignorant but it seems so simple… EDIT: in solo season in CFB at the end of you win out you win the national championship and your team hoists the trophy. Would be so sick to have that for the cup in HUT…

Hey sleeves, are you worried about fantasy hockey? Im worried that the pay to win who get a bunch of fantasy cards will have a bunch of 90+ cards early and dominate. The fix is make the cards start low, but this makes these cards useless for months. Either way, i see a lose-lose happening for the average player.

Your idea for the XP path being 250 levels is so good and makes so much sense so frustrating EA won’t consult anyone. Your point about arenas is great, they added all these cool arenas into the game but aren’t giving any of them out. There is currently 1 arena on the market as I write this. Same issue with coaches, currently only 2 on the market. Its mind blowing the content team doesn’t see this stuff, it has never been more clear that no one on the content team actually plays hut its just so damn frustrating.

Sorry but a few questions and my thoughts , Does the XP path set redeem itself if the bonus packs are all elite jumbo packs or something inline with that? Also the xp path seems like a path that a free to play game would use with an addition of a paid premium path on top of that, but we don’t have that. Lastly, I’m on xp level 14 currently and need 15 thousand points get to reward 15.. Im in D2 and would need 8 wins straight to move up one tier. Assuming you never ever lose and you instantly get into games that 3.5hrs of playing to go up one tier. You can’t really grind out the path and are reliant on xp boosts. If you played all 250 allowed rival games and won them all you would move up 30 tiers approximately. Sorry for being long winded. Thanks!!

Hey sleeves, thanks for always being involved in the community…that being said this year feels like the best use your favourite player years in forever. I find 73 ovr Reaves shoots as nice as 83 Reinhart and it feels great being able to use “plug players” and still be successful, if you take the one time option away it’s anyones game rewards are cooked but I found the benefit is you don’t actually need the OP players to be successful in this game compared to previous games…thoughts?

Good day sleeves, I hope you taking your vitiams. We are getting such a slow roll with up grades with cards, and the aution house cards are so high in price. Could we not get rid of untradeables. Do you think it would bring the card prices down and flood the market? I have never been a fan of untradebles since they intruduced them. Buying cards you should always be able to sell them. EA needs to adjust the value of coins to money. It is way out of wack. Especially for those who would or like to spend money on the packs. I do laugh with you when you say your getting older at playing the game. I'm 64 and closing in on 65, the reflexes have left the building lol. So a lot of off line play is for me, plus my internet sucks. Keep up the great work, I look forward to more content from my number one go to guy. Thoughly enjoy your channel

If you notice the desyncing issue during the faceoff just spam your right stick down. I tend to win all of them because the other player is just standing there... happens atleast once a game for me :/

The sad thing is this years hut is so close to being great imo, Wildcard has been such a nice addition to the game and an overall improvement over hut rush. I was also so excited for the XP Path and think that getting a free 87 Eichel for just simply playing the game is overall a good thing But I fear that the lack of rewards will kill the game by thanksgiving

Hey sleeves, I’m liking NHL 25, im an online player who pushes top 100 in champs. But get bored waiting for champs I would like rivals to be more like madden. Maddens base online mode is 4 wins to get to playoffs then you win single elimination playoff games until you eventually take your team to the cup final

I like your idea of a Stanley cup playoff style Hut champs. They should absolutely implement or even have it as a mode. They change EASHL to this format for there end of season playoffs last year and imo it was way better than past years

I absolutely love how the gameplay feels. The one timers are a bit arcade like but I think it's better than them not working. What are these game breaker cards. I can't find any info on them but there are a few on the Xbox market right now.

I'm honestly just waiting for the first sale to buy the game this year. I enjoyed the gameplay as a whole from what I saw of it in the 10 hour trial but didn't feel like it was worth full price. At this early in the game, do you think a fast defenseman is better(88+), a better defensive awareness(88+) or being mid at both (83-86). Loved the subathon!!

Hey Sleeves, great content, extremely helpful especially now, early on. I really like the xp path, but I worry that if pack sales are indeed down and we keep asking for more rewards on the xp path, the solution will be a premium pass where you just pay for extra rewards each level - I'm not a fan of those in other games. I would like reverse exchange sets, I currently have a untr. Marchand card that I will not use for reasons, but if I could exchange that for a number of lower rated cards, it would have great value right now, even if it doesn't fix the market on its own.

One easy fix to get more 75+ is to revert the jersey, logo trade in from upgrades to base and premium packs.

Hey Sleeves, Going to the comment about the playoff style hut champs/rivals, WOC does this at the end of the month or after a certain amount of weeks or whatever it is now. You play and have to win 4 games out of 7 to make it to the next round and so on. If they added this even just as like 1 weekend at the end of the month or something that could be cool as like an extra champs weekend or something. I know they’ve been hesitant for extra modes to not spread the player pool too thin but could be something interesting to have in HUT to mirror the WOC mode

I’ve played an ungodly amount of Rivals over the last 2 weeks, nearly level 20 on the new XP path. It feels nice to not be massively behind the “meta” teams, lack of rewards has leveled the playing field. That said EA needs to juice this path with a couple packs every 5 levels to get set fodder

I think replacing all the current bronze exchanges with like a 10 bronze for 3 random silvers, which would include a shot at 79s, would make bronze cards feel alot less like garbage and make all the rewards feel a little better since you get so many bronzes.

Hey sleeves. Thanks for keeping us up to date. I love the current gameplay. I think it’s very fluid and fresh. However the state of the market is getting me nervous. You suggest to sell everything and use your coins. But do you think there’s gonna be an event soon enough that will save the market and make my cards and coins more valuable. I don’t wanna spend just for the sake of spending when there’s nothing out there yet that I want to chase. But i also don’t wanna sit on all these cards and coins just for them to be worth half as much in a couple months than what they are now.

Hey sleeves, managed to pull a vintage power up icon and I’m now 1/3 of the way to the master set player. Wanted to hear your thoughts on the icon players in general and if I should be putting all of my 76 overall players into that right away trying to get it before other players, or if there is more benefit in putting it into another set and waiting.

Should I choose NHL '26? I never get a yearly game back to back, except this year. Despite gameplay, with HUT starting very poorly, do I need '26 at launch? Why not wait until a holiday sale or mid season sale? Then I will have more objectives and sets than I know what to do with. Fear of missing out really isn't a thing so far this year. Keep up the good work. We all know the rewards are different this year, and we are all adjusting. Knowing the Fantasy Hockey event is coming in a few weeks, and this is the one event EA has no control over how high a player can climb; would you recommend just saving all your coins / set pieces for this event? It is a gamble, but also the one with the highest ceiling this early in the game.

The only way to improve what you get in packs and rewards. The ultimate pack for 12k points is way too high. I think the points for packs should be cut down in some way as well. I kinda understand what they’re going for by keeping base cards close so everyone doesn’t have the same team but I also think their should be option for specific positions in packs

Not really a who should you choose question, but more of an economy/auction house question. Do you think the economy or card values would change for the better if nhl worked like mlb where if you spent money you get an exact number of coins (stubs) that you can use on players you want rather than spend money to TRY to pull the card? Mlb allowing you to get a certain amount of stubs for money (while I would never spend money on the game) actually does allow people to get the exact card they want rather than hope that they can pull/make it

Hey sleeves, So I thought thought of a way that EA could render the XP path no longer as useless what they could do is every five levels that you go up you gain a couple of packs or something like that they give you the 77 or the 75 overall players that are untradeable so that you can use them towards building cards. This could easily be achieved if they just go into the coding of the XP path add the packs in and if anybody’s already passed that they’re just awarded those packs that’s how they could fix it And because we all know, he wants people to spend money in the game what they could do is they could put ultimate packs or something like that in the store for a lower price point with a guarantee of 5 75 overall or 5 77 overalls or something like that to get us the one to buy. Or when the fantasy hockey event comes out or something like that, put packs in the store to allow you to earn your way to getting a fantasy hockey card or at least make moments worthwhile. I remember last year when the barzel moment came out and everybody lost their mind. We need that kind of moment again. Or like preseason moments to earn preseason cards or something. Thoughts?

Do you think we’ll get another round of cover athlete MSPs to build? Looks like the current buildable sets expire at the end of event (past years would indicate this means they’re the only buildable msp). I’ve given up on grinding this year and just want build a Blues theme team, but didn’t pick Tarasenko in my preorder pack because I thought I would play hut like past years. Worried I’m going to be missing out on one of the best Blues players now

I have a perfect idea for the fantasy event a realistic approach and fantasy approach (they’d never fucking do it) but of the cards they choose Realistic- each player they choose they take Vegas over under odds on goals scored to dictate their starting overall that way if the over hits the card reaches 99. Example let’s say the use Brock Nelson for the islanders and his over under is 29.5 goals this year- start him at a 69. Meaning if he nets 30 he’s a 99. If a Defenseman’s over under is 11.5 start them at a 75. Meaning 12 goals they reach a 99 True Fantasy approach- make this a available for every player in the league headshot card art (at MSP cost) and let us choose what player we want to make so we can get our favorite players. (Example you can do Mcdavid but he will start around a 53 overall due to his Vegas odds)

Great video as always. Agree with most of what you say but only thing i disagree with is there not being a pack "worth" your money. The very first pack imo is worth more than almost any pack last year. 4600 for 120k coins(3 82 cover athletes that go for 40k each) So for $146 that got me 20k points I got 500k coins. Not too bad compared to past years where id spend $100 and get less than 100k value almost every time.

Hey sleeves I know this seems really simple and stupid, but do you think if the master set cards are easier to obtain (aka lower amounts of cards to put into it) so instead of 6 it’s 4. Or do you think that makes them too easy to obtain? OR maybe we go back to being able to earn one master set player for free with rewards and get another one that we have to upgrade ourselves?

I love NHL 25 , but I fine the defense players are just to sensitive in there movements, I fine just barely touching the control stick gets the defense players movements go out of position badly is it just me or is this happening for other players # icedogs

Do we know the total amount of xp needed for the last tiers? Is it even amounts all the way through or is it some RuneScape type shit where halfway to 99 is actually 92

OK, so we all know that they’re not going to fix the XP reward path until the next one in 50 weeks. What they could do instead is maybe add one free pack a week where we get 10 75+ overall cards or even better is to boost up the weekly objectives where we get better packs up until this reward path is over. This way this gives us incentive for us to play the game more as well as work towards those hologram cards or X factor cards. Gameplay is too good right now for EA to mess up content, which is something they could fix

Bring back weekly rewards for both sb and rivals cap the points so everyone doesn’t complain about dropping a tier last minute so it’s fair like there trying to do with the xp path keep the xp path as well and add way more moments for more rewards.

I'm wondering if the economy and progression are working as intended and just much slower than we are used to. Eichel might be one of the best cards this season, and we won't see an 88. The big Mcdavid and 86 Hughes brothers aren't intended to be ftp grindable. The holo powerups, captain xfactors, and big team builders are meant for 1 or 2 to be grindable across the season. The 85 cover athletes are the targets for the event and only getting 1 or 2 is normal. All the base cards, xfactor, powerups, team builders are meant to be useable for the whole season, and the average player should be using a bunch of 82s, 83s, and 84s.

I am incredibly torn about this game right now. Yes the rewards are terrible, no you can’t get all the chase cards and build a god sqaud, and no you will not be able to spend money on the game and get a justified return. With that said last year all of that was flipped, you could get Lemeuix, Gretzky and McDavid along with all the Team Builders within the first month, and that was the sole goal all year. All resources would go towards those cards, MSP’s were rarely bangers and NOT ONCE, did I purchase a totw or moments card. My lineup was gridlocked with TOTY, TB’s and PUI’s with MSP’s filling out the bottom. This year now that none if that is achievable I have soley played with cards I like, and I have hope that totw cards are going to have a shot at my top line and making an MSP seems like it will have legitimate longevity across my roster. With all that said EA dropped the ball horrendously and basically gave us the finger with these truly AWFUL and we certainly still need to lobby for proper rewards so TB’s and PUI’s are not impossible to make but I think their is some positive light being shed on truly what ultimate team is meant to be. You shouldn’t be trying to build THE ultimate team, you should be trying to build YOUR ultimate team, and that’s what you have to do this year.

as someone who works in customer service literally the only time ive seen things change is when 1. proper feedback is provided. why does this suck? why do you hate it? what changes could make it better? if you cant answer these questions your feedback isnt good... The game usually falls off for me after a couple months. The grind is too much for someone with limited time of their hands. The fact as a NMS player, I can compete the same after 5 hours a week as someone who plays 25 is amazing for me. I understand that pay to win players will kill me but a more barebones version of HUT is my favorite. Old style ultimate team (without promos) was my favorite time to play online

I’m FTP and I have a bunch of ICON, XF, COVERS and 84 Ghule just from wild card and moments and objectives. Why is everyone so upset. Slow down and enjoy the ride guys. Don’t spend any money.

Should I hold out hope for a no money spent team that can compete in rivals for someone who has time to play 7-10 hours a weekor do you think EA won’t make it a viable option in the near future

I think a lot of people are overreacting and need to chill a bit. Everybody always say the want a slow progression and this is what we have. We just got our first day of new content and it's pretty easy to have a team of all 82-83 with a few 84s in there as well. With the highest card being an 86, I'd say that's fine. It obviously is a rip off for people dropping big money. So just use your head if you're thinking about spending money. How is the best feeling ganeplay being overshadowed slower progression that hasn't been fully fleshed out yet?

im div 2, and i think one tees are balanced. People are learning to clog the passing lanes. Since the defender also sees the grey circle on the guy setting up for the one tee, they can intercept that pass. IMO, the only ones complaining are the people who don't play on puck defense. Thats a whole other rant about AI. As for the economy, i think this is what EA intended. Base cards are exciting again, people just didn't know they should be excited about when they ripping packs. PUIs were selling for 30k early on. People were so used to last years pricing. Its not going to change, it will likely slowly progress throughout the year with other headshot cards. Im betting the new Primetimes etc will be in packs permanently. What EA needs to do to fix this: Add XFactors and PUI to the XP path. Make the last tier a choice pack, 1 of 3. so not everyone has Eichel. Increase the pack quality to be 75+ players. Anything below 75 is insulting. and finally, FIX THE MENUS. There is no reason menus should be this laggy on these consoles. There is more than enough horsepower to have snappy menus. I don't think EA will budge though. We're stuck with this product. We're not getting daily content anymore. I hope EA loses the NHL license. I'd rather skip 2-3 years if it means a good product in the end.

Although it has its own flaws MLB the show does the best ultimate team with Diamond Dynasty and it’s not even close. Can build a 99 team without spending a dime relatively easily

Anybody else having problems just moving the puck. I play online and i try to pass and my guys lose all momentum trying to receive it. I can’t pass cuz the puck hits my teammates skates. Passing in general seems unresponsive i never pass who I’m trying to pass to. Plus it seems like my ai is more brain dead than ever. Maybe it’s because everyone is low overall but i constantly skate into my teammates just trying to enter the zone. I’ve been playing hit for damn near 8-9 years and I’ve never had this much trouble just trying to move the puck

My thoughts on the question/comment from the person tired of complaining about the game... While I do think it's important that consumers voice their opinions, one thing we see is the same people complaining year after year, but they continue to buy the game. The loudest way to complain is to stop buying the game. It would be like me going to McDonald's every single day and complaining every day about the food. I enjoy and appreciate comments/complaints with specifics, but it's tiresome to see comments like "the game is broken, I miss NHL 14!"

I mean there’s skill gaps for a reason i believe if you’re a higher skilled player, your rewards should match. I’m tired of lower skilled players wanting the same rewards at the people who grind the game.

Im on PS5, is anybody else having issues using the multi-select for sets?

I need to weigh in as a D1 player about my experience as of late... I think the gameplay is truthfully horrendous and forces a style of hockey that is boring and painful to play. I will cycle in the offensive for almost a whole period getting shot after shot blocked and just praying I find a lane to get my "green" 1T to go in... there is no goal other then that at the top level with all players dropping 5 in front to make a brick wall. On the other end, I just pray EA decides to make my goalie have an IQ over 5 and save pucks that hit him directly in the chest. Also, I will line up a player with only hopes to get him off the puck and my Seth Jones can't get it from cole caufield skating down the wing. I understand overalls are lower at the moment and honestly its not the game speed that makes this bad to me. I am literally at the same time sweating my ass off for nothing in return, just an overall monstrosity for the first week of a game. Take me back to chase cards from day 1, 94 overall base cards, and ultimately just copy and paste the layout of NHL 14 Hut.

Why can base be rated higher or lower how well or poorly players in live games

For the first time i regret, really regret buying pre order for NHL. I get that GOD Squad should not be available in week one, but f this grind. I really see that i will not play HUT anymore. Every set will be unnatainable at this rate. SAD, was looking forward to playing HUT while healing my back injury, but even for me this is insane. Will go play BF2042....

I'd rather have the one timer be like they are than have them never go in like past versions of this game. Stop playing collapsing to the net defense and get out and defend the point. This is the first game where I would just leave gameplay as it is, when EA tweaks shit they always make it worse.

I deleted my HUT team. Should everybody do until it is worth to spend time on the game. The most stupid thing is the 5 bnd cards in the XP path of 52 days. With cover athletes, I though I had enough 82s, but no, one is a bnd card. I suggest we all together delete our HUT teams and give EA 1 week time to change HUT and make grinding fun again. Now it is a complete waste of time! The community has to make a statement. Together we are strong. Just show EA you can delete your team. They never should have so much power on you that you even agree with bnd cards for starters while you paid a lot for the game. Make them do there homework over.

In way kind of glad hut rewards are kinda stale because in years past I would grind hut 24/7 this year I been more into chel and for the first time me and the boys just hit div 1 which wouldn’t have happened if rewards in hut were better because we all would have grinding hut

Hey Sleeves, more of a comment than a question. I think the negativity has hit a point where it’s overblown and the main issue is just a culture shock. The way they HUT has become accustomed to building their team has completely changed, and I don’t blame everyone for being blow away negatively by change. The shock of not being able to easily attain the ‘premier cards’ (XF/PUI/TB) and the let down of the XP Path has overshadowed good changes for free to play players and free cards that we’ve received so far. I’m not sitting in front of my xbox atm, so I could be missing things but we’ve received a substantial amount of free cards so far. The initial 85 cover athlete, the two 84 wildcard cards from the BND set. We’ve gotten 2-3 free XF & PUI’s each. I don’t know how many free 82 cover athletes I’ve gotten, but I have 5 of them in my binder and another one I can get from objectives and the wildcard XP path I can get. That’s going to add up to 6 total which is another free 85 cover athlete through the set. The style of HUT team building has simply changed, the packs are a disaster and it’s going to make those ‘premier cards’ no longer easily attainable and the ultimate goal. However, with the surplus of coins and the (hopefully continuing) free rewards from free packs, objectives and etc. continuing, I personally think that this may be the easiest year on free to play players. The difference is that instead of those XF/PUI/TB cards, our teams will consist of the weekly MSPs that will be easier to attain than ever. I think once we get used to this cycle for another month or so there will be much more optimism on building our teams. Anyways sorry for the rant, thanks for the content. You’ve helped with HUT a lot over the past 3 years!
