Imperial Watch Co. has a new release, the Oceanguard GMT, and I’ve got your exclusive look at ALL FOUR colors! This full review will take you through everything you want to see in the Imperial Oceanguard and includes my likes and dislikes of this latest GMT watch featuring the Seiko NH34 automatic GMT movement. This vintage inspired skin diver packs a lot of punch in the fine details, and this is the only video where you’ll see all four colors together! Which Oceanguard will you choose?

These watches were on loan from the manufacturer for the purpose of showcasing on this channel, without compensation. The watches were returned after filming was completed.
UPDATE: I didn't realize these were prototypes, so I was actually wrong about the luminescence. It is NOT by design, and was just a prototype application. The production watches that will be offered for sale have equal brightness luminescence on the handset and indices. Sorry for the confusion. I truly thought it was intentional and that these were production models. The improved lume is the only update that I am aware of.
4/9/24 UPDATE: Whoops, a viewer helped me realize that I made a mistake. I inadvertently described the bracelet links as fitted with screw pins. They are not...this bracelet features push pins. Sorry for the confusion.

One housekeeping item, though we certainly do love taking risks and pushing the envelope, the lume on production models is equal brightness on both the dial and hands! 👍Thank you again and I hope all is well on your end!

Wow, I didn't realize these were prototypes! Well, that explains the lume then. It was such an equal contrast and neat effect at night, I was certain it was intentional. The lume freak in me will be happy with equal brightness on the production models, though! 😂

That's the one I gravitated towards too, as stated in the video. I did start wearing the Jet Black with Pepsi bezel towards the end of my time with them, though, and it really grew on me!

So many great features and design elements on this one… it’s a sure fire hit. Friction bezel 🙌 Alu insert ❤ taper on that lovely jubilee 😍 drilled lugs 🎉 on the fly adjust 👊 yeah… Imperial smashed it. Also great review Witt - no nonsense all the info in an easy, entertaining style 👍👍

Definitely a beautiful 😂 piece! So much attention to detail and great looks. The travel pouch shouldn't be overlooked either...really a well thought out watch accessory that's INCLUDED!

Love the fun bezel colors and that vintage crystal distortion will always get me going... it'd be nice if it had a bi-directional clicker rather than friction but these will definitely sell out quick. Enjoyed the video a lot, cheers.

LOVE the crystal distortion! And the clarity. My VanBanner Adroit GMT has a 48 click bi-directional (for 1/2 hr time zones) and that IS pretty nice. But like I mentioned, on an office GMT I'm usually not moving the bezel. Thanks for the compliment!

I have to start by saying I love my original Royal Guard but I'm not sure that I'll jump on this GMT variant as much as I like this one as well but there is just alot of competition in this price range even vintage remakes Still a huge fan of the brand just the same maybe I'll be lucky to snag a second hand one later on as unlikely as that is mainly because nobody really wants to part with them Thanks for sharing another killer review my friend Be well 👍

I hear you, and I think there are plenty of others in your camp. For me, I usually stay in the same time zone, but want to track others, so the GMT hand quickset is a better option. If I start traveling more internationally, I'm snagging something with a 9075 though!

These are quite nice looking. Not sure what the thought process was with the sharp exposed points on the case. Better to match up the bracelet, but that's just my opinion. Great review!

Wondering if it's for shorter wearable lug length. Doesn't really need it, though. They're not sharp like they'll cut you, just pointy!

Everyone is being so hard on this watch 😂😂 yes it has quirks and imperfections, i dont love every aspect, but i think they did a damn good job for what it is! I support it!

Definitely. I just like things that are quirky. And while we all root for a watch to perfect in our mind/opinion, it's ok if they aren't. Everyone's tastes are different...and that's ok.

It doesn't wear tall at all. The thickness comes primarily from the bubble crystal. Though, the fourth hand (GMT) does add a bit to the handset stack. Check out the side profile....lots of crystal!

You are correct...available April 9th at 8am Pacific time. This is the ramp up to release day. I filmed this before the release date was known, so my video is fairly generic/evergreen. If you sign up for their newsletter you get early access to purchase!

Awesome review! The blue AR on the crystal just ruins it for me… it complements a blue dial just fine but on any other it sticks out like a sore thumb!

I'm half with you. I think they were trying to make it different than the previous releases, while still keeping some familiarity. I think it still has a vintage vibe and it works, but not for everyone.

I love white dial divers! This one is fairly unique with the gilt and the fairly light contrasting colors. Legibility is still good, too!

I think a lot of people have that wish. I like the quick set GMT hand for when I'm not jumping time zones, though, as is the case with an office GMT. The Miyota 9075 with the jump hour hand (traveler's GMT) is great for worldly travel.

So sorry...my mistake. Those are push pins. I don't read a script, to keep it natural, and sometimes you say the wrong thing while you're thinking about the next item you're talking about. I replied to you earlier saying that they were screw pins, but double checked with Imperial after I typed that...you had me second guessing, since I see so many watches. Thanks for calling this out!

I love what they did with the design and dimensions, but what's that thing with the availability ? 25 pieces for each colour ? I mean that's really more limited than what we watch enthusiasts would like it to be. It's like a joke. What's the whole point of these watches if you can't buy one ? And that price is insane for an NH34 based watch. You can get Sugess/Seestern watches with that same movement and perhaps even better finishing for around 250 USD all day long.

I DO think the quantity of pieces is low. That's extremely limited edition. But, perhaps that is some of the draw with this watch. If I had to guess, I'll bet the number is low also because the owner probably self funded the purchase of inventory without assuming any debt. Remember, many of these microbrands are one-man companies doing it for the love of horology, as a side project. If it ever gets big, wouldn't it be cool to own 1 of 25 watches from the "early days?!"

WTH is going on £599 for an NH34A movement

On release day they will be about £394. But to answer your question, it's all the other refinements that warrant the price. Seiko's own GMT using the same movement is about £343 but doesn't have as much style, personality or specs as the Oceanguard, in my opinion. And you're not likely to run into another person wearing it, which makes it feel kind of custom for you...something I love about microbrands.

Thanks for your honest opinion. Logos and signatures on dials can truly affect our appeal of a watch. Sorry this one doesn't work out for you...I actually like it!
