They sold out! This video was released before they went on sale. Click through to the full video this is from if you want to learn more about the brand, though. More info in that video's description.
The obvious competitor for this is the SWC Bunker. I like the look of this one personally since it has a more traditional field-watch dial layout (plus I like display casebacks), but the Bunker is titanium, has X1 grade lume, a Swiss movement and all for a hundred bucks less
Good points. Hard fact, it's just going to cost more for USA assembly and quality control. So it comes down to which watch appeals to you more. I've handled both watches and can rave about each. The SWC offers much better specs for the money, but this Vaer is no slouch either. I'm drawn to the A5 dial more, like you. Fun fact, the SWC is assembled by an American in Switzerland! Here's my review of the Bunker, if you haven't seen it: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-MJMQBV0hO3k.html
Lovely looking watch but I don't fully understand the thing for so called "homage" watches from Aliexpress. Am i missing something or are these just cheap affordable clones?
It's hard to explain. You see a watch with striking looks/design/build and a low price. It's obtainable. For many, it's as close as they'll ever get to owning the original. Like, if Honda made a version of a Porsche...you know it's not a Porsche, but it has the looks and feel of it. The engine is reliable and you can afford it! Win! Not the best analogy, but you get the idea.
Pagani really impressed me. I have the Rolex Hulk homage. At the time when they weren't super famouse yet it only cost me $60. I've had it for 4 years now use it on a daily basis and I can tell you the thing is durable. For $60 you get a Saiko 4R35 movement, saphire cystal, and ceramic bezel. The band is pretty solid as well.
This is built on their diver case, but it's meant to be more of a sport watch. You'd be surprised at how closely you can guess where the markers are, though...nearly to the minute! I surprise myself when wearing this one. They also have a dress version of this.
@@WatchWitt I think it is super handsome. Very different. I want to buy one......but a timing bezel with out marks🙄 I have a squale similar to that, but it does some marks on the bezel. None on the dial. Stunning watch from gnomon, but still functional. The 1521 case.....500m odd one.
@Koishishibaman That one does sound interesting! Check out this version of the Venezianico...you can also get it on the same bracelet. They just opened another pre-order window for both watches. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-TXtkXCwFcJg.htmlsi=a_3Qn0oVIYog5jRg
Weird...whenever you say that I check my "held for review" folder but always empty...not there. Yes, this watch is cool! Little hard to not have a quick glance of the time, but everything else is awesome. Feels great, too!
Additional FIFTY percent off with code OAOSI50 and then there's a 5% for signing up for their email list I think. But not sure if you can combine discounts. The regular price is inflated...I don't like that...but the watch is good!
@WatchWitt Wow, thank you, Witt, for clarifying as I failed to realize there is an additional 50% off!!! That makes all the difference in the world. So cool...
Those are Juelong's version of a Tropic Strap...available on AliExpress as well. Here's my video featuring them: FKM Rubber Straps Under $10! Juelong Watch Band Review - AliExpress ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-7YVt0e6dbq0.html
Loots great but that price is crazy. Looking at their website I would suggest wait until the price drops. Other limited editions have come down a LOT in price.
I don't like the mark up then discount game, which is why I mentioned the price the way I did. That said, Nubeo has been priced higher than others for quite some time. But everything they do is top notch. Just look at their website and all the pictures...they definitely believe in their product! And these are one of a kind watches!
@@WatchWitt I fif a bit of digging as I don't know anything about this brand. It appears to be implying that it is a swiss microbrand but might not actually be? The pricing malarkey is a big red flag. Are they a brand created by Watchgang? The trademark seems to be owned by a chinese based company.
@Subcomandante73 I don't know about their past, but online snooping will reveal those two items you mentioned, yet unclear if either is correct. Their parent company is Dartmouth Brands. Sister companies are Spinnaker, AVI-8, Ballast, Duxot, RGMT, Cadola, among others.
In the back of my head I thought you'd be the first to comment! Feels like something I would see on YOUR channel! Yeah, this watch is so dynamic...they did a great job of capturing the feel of our memories of the game.
Yeah, these will run on light alone, no battery, as long as the dial CONSTANTLY gets light! 😂 But that wouldn’t be very practical. When Citizen first came out with these they claimed to the affect of “never needs a battery,” which I’m sure has created some confusion.
I haven't had the Tiffany blue in this watch, but had one in another STEELDIVE model and it looked good. These 3 are great builds/dials...provided they fixed the misaligned chapter ring issue.
@@WatchWitt god knows. I suppose like any item with hands/dials/gauges it can go out of calibration and requires recalibrating, glad to have it sorted and have a working watch back on my wrist 😌
Would be cool to see them do a mechanical movement, but would obviously drive the price up. Also need one that matches the subdial layout. That said, I enjoy this mechaquartz...it was my first, and I gotta say that the accuracy combined with the fairly smooth sweep of the chronograph seconds is a nice pairing.
Which ones did you try? The sailcloth is a little shorter than I'd like for me, but I can still wear them. 8" wrist. The silicone...no problem...two different lengths!
Weird. AliExpress is anything but consistent! But I'm showing my link as $127 USD right now, lower than I said it would be. If you want to try to find it on your own at the same store, here is a link to UTC Watches Store. Might be some difference between US and your locale when loading the page??? I have this Pagani Design 'Speedy', I also have their homage to the Rolex 'Daytona' (£70), looks fabulous on a Nato because once again the bracelet wasn't very good.
The DO have a black dial version...looks sharp. I like the idea of this watch having a hand wound mechanical movement, though...adds to the vintage charm/feel.
Is yours pretty reliable when calibrated everyday? The compass has been the only "is it really worth it?" complication for me on this watch. I'm working on a one-year-later review and will definitely address my concerns with the compass.
So, just have to weigh how much you'll actually use (rely upon) the compass, I guess. I wanted this watch more for the other complications, the compass was just a bonus, for me.
It's hit or miss with Timex. Sometimes they hit, sometimes they don't. The watch in this video was actually replaced and the replacement watch did BETTER but doesn't hit every mark. I have another Timex, which is considerable less expensive, and the seconds hand hits all the markers.
I agree. However, between the clicks it's like a SOLID friction bezel. SOOOO, it IS actually useable outside of just the indentations. Still stupid, but better than my first impressions from this video. It's a great watch! I'm really diggin' it!
I'm late to the party about the Hyper-G and SWC as a whole. I checked out the Hyper-G when I was exploring SWC's new Tremor model. I liked the Hyper-G so much that I ordered the last one in stock a few days ago. Coincidentally I own a Sofia II from Axia Time that shares the Hyper-G's titanium case. The specs and regulated accuracy of the Hyper-G, however, are superior to the Sofia II while the price is considerably less. Only one complaint about the SWC and I'm sure I'm not alone. The name of the brand is just awful. (Try googling "Swiss Watch Company" you'll see just how problematic it is. Not to mention the bizarre logo that looks like a fifth grader's doodle. I can live with those issues but I suspect others cannot. Change the name and the logo. The watches are cheapened by the brand name and the logo.
