Important things you need to know when you visit an agogo in Pattaya, Thailand 

Nice roundup. Here are some comments from someone with over 20 years living in BKK and Pattaya. Getting drunk in beer bars or agosos is about as dumb as you can get. If you want to get drunk do it at home. Don't go out on a balcony if you get drunk. DON'T go into an agogo bar unless you are going there to have fun and expect to spend some money doing it. If the bar fine and cost of the girl is too high at an agogo then get one from a beer bar or Thai Friendly. Your attitude makes a big difference with how the girls act with you. Dancing or watressing in an agogo every night is boring! I used to have a great time, and meet lots of girls, by simply taking in inexpensive treats like Chupa Chups, individual jellys, cheap jewlery, or toys for the girls. The jia dee farang handing out them made the girls night more fun, and they recipricated. I might pick out a girl but I made it clear if I was just there to have fun so the girls could go for a real customer anytime. Don't forget the waitresses - in fact I usually started with them. The bar staff is your gateway to the best girls. Part of a bar girl's job is to drink as much as possible every night yet they can't work if they get drunk so expect the drink to contain little or no alcohol. As an example, Sangsom soda is frequently ordered and it is usually soda water plus just enough rum (or tea) to color it. Expect this and don't let it bother you, it is all part of what the girls need to do - and it increases the profits of the bar so they will stay open for your viewing pleasure. Lady drink and run: When that happens quietly ask for the mamasan and tell her why you are disapointed, might not come back, and if you do come back you would never want that girl again. If a girl says she has to go dance and you can see by the rotation board she is lying she is doing it because she has decided she doesn't want to go with you. Accept this and move on - there are hundreds more girls to choose from. Multiple girls from one bar: Make it clear from the very beginning that you are a butterfly - there is a way to do this with your hands and if you don't know how to do it ask a bar girl to show you. Buy your previous bar fine a drink first, remind her you are a butterfly, and discuss your next choice with her. I have had girls tell me that I was making a good choice, or a bad choice. Ignore what they say at your own peril. Photos in a bar: If you really want photos then you better get to know the mamasan and/or manager. If they give their appoval then the best way is to ask the mamason to take the photos - buy her a drink to say thank you. If you get a photo show it to any girl in the photo and be ready to delete if if they ask you to. I have many photos taken in bars because of this approach. Eventually they got to know me and trust me in some bars so I could take photos myself. Sometimes taking a portrait against a simple background (not screaming this is part of a bar) and then giving the girl or mamasan an inexpensive 8"x10" print the next visit works wonders. One bar owner hung my portrait of her on the wall of the bar, others sent the portraits home. Remember, don't go to a beer bar or agogo unless you are there to have fun and expect to spend some money. One fun night a week is better than 7 nights being a Cheap Charlie.

Great advice Trev! One thing guys...Like he says...if you get swarmed by the girls...which will happen in some bars...be polite...stand your ground and pick the 1 or 2 girls you like. If you stand your ground they will actually Respect you more...and therefore will "step-up" their game and treat you Better!

ALL excellent advice and tips ! Just 3 extra I could add. 1. Do Not BF a girl from the GoGo right next to your Hotel. For the rest of your vacation, she may Freak out when you parade another girl past her and into your hotel! 2. It is best to NEVER ring the bell ! 3. Men from Europe, the USA, Canada Etc. Have to lose the negative concept of "Oh it's dead" or "No one is in there" You have to understand that Being the only Guy in a bar/Go Go Bar is a GOOD thing ! Or IF it's just you and some friends" You will be the King or KingS of the castle!

I was in pattaya a few weeks ago. I planned to go on your bar crawl and then got lost in the fun of it all. My 4th trip but the most fun I’ve ever had. Gogo bars are my favorite. But only fun if you know how to play the game. I would add some tips: 1. Always remember to smile. It’s a simple way to vet people/ see whose in the right mood. 2. It’s rare for girls on the stage to risk rejection unless drunk. If they gesture to you when they’re on the stage and you shoot them down it will be humiliating. That’s why smiling helps. (And by the way a lot of gogo bar girls are drunk cause the bar thinks it’s good for business, what you said about them not getting drunk isn’t always true. If she likes you she’s likely to be willing to get on board with proper drinking. In fact if she asks you for a proper drink when you offer her a drink it probably means she likes you and wants to hang around). 3. Find a waitress who gives you a good vibe and tip them and buy them drinks. If you keep going back they’ll give you VIP service and even free shots if they like you. But be selective. Drunk mofos trying to get you to buy them drinks won’t even remember you if you do. 4. The girls going round hassling people are the desperate ones who don’t get enough attention. The quality girls don’t need to do it cause they get invited for drinks constantly. Tell these annoying girls to jog on and say you wanna chill for a bit. 5. You have to be prepared to spend money. If you don’t wanna spend money don’t go. It’s supposed to be fun. 6. Some people are just trying to get money out of you but not all. Helps if you have a nice vibe. Some girls are bored and will like the look of you. But be semi vigilante of idiots rocking up. 7. Things can get awkward after bar fining girls in one place you like. It complicates things and why I don’t think anyone could stay in pattaya too long at one time. It’s hard to be a gentleman when you’re essentially telling girls you like to go away cause you wanna meet someone new. Cant be easy to do what these girls do.

On the subject of buying her friend a drink. I always tell them I only buy drinks for one lady so I will happily buy her friend a drink but you have to go. Amazing how quick they get rid of the friend.😂.

When a girl makes up all these excuses not to sit with you, what is the point of talking to the mamasan and forcing her to stay with you? You really want to take that girl back to your hotel? It is obvious from the start she is not interested in you. Move on to the next one.

Haven't been to Patts in many years. GoGos before used to be relaxed fun with handsy girls, all of whom were grateful for a drink and even happier to be bar fined. Sad to hear how mercenary the whole scene is. Im back in Pattaya this month but the GC and Beer Bar and Massage scene seems far more worth it.

I love your commentary and advice and its so interesting to hear what it is like now in Pattaya. I was there in 1982 when beer was 40 baht, bar fine was 200 baht and the girl cost 500 baht for a full night. Those were the days!!!

Checking you bin serves two purposes. It allows you to keep track of what you are spending and it shows the gogo staff that you are paying attention to the bill. This will reduce the possibility that they will add drinks to your bill in the first place. Some gogo's (Babydolls back in the day for example) will make you sign each bill which is a good policy. If you do find yourself short of money get out ahead of it as soon as you can. Talk to the staff/owner and come up with a plan. You may still get escorted to get the money, but it will be a far more pleasant experience than if they think you are trying to rip them off.

So true about the Mamasan topic! Back in my mongering days, if I planned on hanging at a place for a bit and making a "big night" of it and had money to burn, I'd buy the Mamasan a drink or two. If you tell them what your plans are for the night, they will usually be pretty helpful finding what you are looking for. They will make sure you get drinks when you want them and usually the girls won't hassle you as much because the Mamasan will act as a good buffer. The girls can't risk pissing off a customer in front of her. If you are just there to have a drink or two and leave, then it's not beneficial to buy the Mamasan a drink.

I much prefer barbeers to go-gos in Patters. I'm talking here specifically about the ones that are open to the elements on all sides. This is not just because they are a lot cheaper than go-gos, and it's easier to control the drinking situation within in your favour. Street life in the evenings in PTY is fascinating with always something interesting going on. I can't see any point of being holed up inside of a clip joint and bombarded with truly nauseating repetitious and basically Neanderthal 'music' whilst at the mercy of pushy dancers and waitresses. (Also there is that security backup from the boys that is frequently vicious). OK, I'm now over 70. But I've always felt like this, going back to when I visited Thai for the first time. This was way back in '81 as a 30 year old.

I prefer a massage. You pay the massage shop for a set time,1 hour or longer with your chosen partner in a private room. No drinks to buy and you can always bar fine the person. Tip depends on the services you choose.

So in a nutshell, come to Pattaya. Fewer women, higher prices, get ripped off, smile while getting shafted, don't get drunk, don't query your bill, don't challenge the locals when they take the piss. Apart from that have a great time.

Good Day Trev , What a great video, You are very Right about the Bins , I have been to Pattaya 12 times and the first trip I fell for leaving to pay the Bin when I was leaving the Bar after I had been there for a while and I was shocked with how much it was enormous, So after that every trip that I went back to Pattaya I payed the Bin every time I bought a drink, No Problems,

When I first came to Pattaya, fifteen years ago, all these rules weren't necessary. Go-Go bars were easy to interact with and prices were really fair. Your list of things to do and not to do in a go-go bar reminds me of why I don't go there anymore. It's too much of a hassle and too much stress. Like you said, it's a business, it's all about them making as much money as they can. It wasn't always like that in Pattaya or even in Bangkok. Having to deal with all these issues takes away from the fun of being in the true go-go bar. For newbies, I would suggest visiting one go-go bar to get the feel of it. But after that go to soi 6and the beer bars all over town. In fact many other girls on soi 6 are as pretty as the girl is on the walking street, that charging five times more. Also , here is a slap of reality. Many go go bars Don't want Indians to come in. Right now, the Go go girls look for and prefer to be with the young Korean boys who dress nice. And remember, the Go-Go girls may let you buy them a drink, but unless you are a young Korean or you very good-looking young man, they will not bar fine with you. You can tell this by the fact they will give you a bar find rate of maybe 5 to 8 thousand baht plus 10,000 baht for the girl. This is a clear indication that girl does not want to go with you cuz she knows nobody would pay these stupid prices. It has become quite ridiculous in Pattaya Go-Go bars.

Cheers some useful tips here. What you said about the photos in the agogos is sensible. One vlogger i watch occasionally manages to get secret footage from inside these places and i think to myself he must have some bottle coz i wouldnt have the nerve. Your lucks gotta run out eventually lol.All the best.

A lot of good info on here about how to have a great and safe time in the Go-Go's. As far as checking your bin. That applies pretty much to anywhere you go in Thailand whether it be Go-Go's, Beer Bars, restaurants, discos, etc.

My experience with both a Thai Bar Girl who movied to Canada and a Mexican Bar Girl who wanted to... is...The mixed drinks you buy them do not contain alcohol...Alcohol is expensive and soft drink mix is cheap...The Bar Tender deleats the alcohol from their drinks and pays them a commission for each drink they can get bought for them.

All 100% true these.. draft beer, after LD go away…… I learn now 1 thing directly give tips her not between folding bin, thanks Buzz

1:20 "an agogo is a business" and that business is to extract as much money in as short an amount of time as possible. If one has been drinking, it is too easy to forget this basic goal and of course the girls will try to distract one from thinking logically. Like you said Trev it is amazing the amount of money that some of the places generate!! A lot of good truth bombs in this video. Agogos can be fun, but just keep your wits about you.

Lol! I would never make these mistakes. The only mistake I ever made was getting married, twice . It was painfully expensive. Much more than any bar girl. Give me the bar girls any day. No mus no fuss. 👊

The worst post covid phenomenon I've noticed about the GoGo bars is that they ask for all the LT money before you leave the bar. It's the worst in Pattaya. They ask for it all up front in Bangkok too but I was able to negotiate out of it. Pattaya GoGos demanded it. Didn't work out so well for my friend. He paid 6,500 baht at Fahrenheit for LT and BF. After an hour the lady just ran off. After a lot of haggling with the bar he very reluctantly got 2,000 baht back. Too risky to pay everything upfront and this never happened before the pandemic.

Between the airfare prices, the lack of choices of girls, and the shadey practices in the bars the appeal of coming there is pretty low.

I saw one of your new videos where you were out walking and said that you could really see in your face how much weight you had lost. And when people see you regularly, as you say, it is not something you notice. But today I saw this video that was a month and a half old and you can really see how much has happened in the last while. It looks good.. I also saw your video the other day where you were up in the temple and also the one where you were up at the prison camp. You have to know I care that I thought they were good. And it is in no way a waste of time from someone like me who is sitting in Denmark and trying to keep up. Thanks for your great videos and keep up the good work. I'll try to check out the bar when I pass by Pattaya in 14 days. Of course, I have also tried to look at your Discord, several times. But I just never got it to work. the a go go bars i have always seen as a bit of a novelty really, they are certainly fun when your new to the scene but the prices for what they are will soon wear on you and you soon realise beer bars are much more wallet friendly, although an hour or two in a go go is never a bad thing in moderation lol

On the subject of bins, I ended up with a bin of a lot more than I had. I was drunk ish and told them that I had no card on me. I said I had to get my card and go to an ATM (which after I’m amazed they let me leave without one of them going with me, anyway they did) on the way back you have a devil on both shoulders to say bugger it and go pass out (I was leaving the day after next) but I didn’t because I’m not a total as*****. Anyway I got the money, barfined the girl and had a great time. When I got back and paid THE WHOLE bar breathed out. You could see they were all waiting to see if I would come back as it was a big risk I suppose letting me leave.

Ran into a surprising situation during my only visit to Bangkok. Went to a gogo bar, and the mamasan told me no long time; only short time. Finished my drink and left. Never went back.

I always used to say to the mamasan "im going to be here a few times & id like to bar fine different girls each time if thats ok?" She always says yes of course & she then knows and will tell the girls & whenever I have done that there's never been a problem of "hey he's my customer" & nobody loses face

However, back in the 90s I was a regular in a couple of fully nude go-go bars (yes, they had those a long time ago) in Nana and got friends with several girls and the mamasan and asked if I could shoot a couple of photos and they let me.

Great points. Thanks. I want to make one comment about the mamasons. Not all mamasons wan to be your friend. Again, it is a business. But get to know them, pay attention to who there are. If they seam nice and not in to much of a hurry for you to buy buy buy, ask them for a fun girl to bar fine. Buy here a drink. Yes it will cost you a few more baht but I think it can give you an advantage. The girls will act better if you and the mamasons are on good terms. Two mamasons I have known in Pattaya have been very good to me. Both have provided great girls whom I have had long term "relationships" with. One of them is now out of the business but we remain in contact. Mamasons can be the devil but they can be a good help as well.

Please do a video on the difference/similarities between the "types" of bars. - Perhaps include the price difference and differences inside and even the process(es) for getting someone to accompany outside the bar. ++ This video seems to presume the knowledge of the differences of Go-go, beer bar, Gentlemen clubs, etc.

Go-go bars have always been a bit of a rip off, but at least in the past, everything was mostly good natured. These days, it all seems like hard work.

Taking photos in Ladyboy Gogo clubs seems to be encouraged,for a drink of course!

Grown men can be like kids walking into a sweet shop, they will always pick the most fancy looking dessert with all the cream, chocolate and cherries on top. However when they are older and asked what was their favorite growing up most of the time they will say mom's apple pie. Have the one night in a top GoGo for the experience, just set your budget at the start of the night, as in very very high. Don't be afraid to try the smaller bars away from the main tourist areas , sure older maybe less attractive but still a great time at a fraction of the cost

I did 1500 in 30 mins, they don’t muck about. 😆 the girls were lovely though but double the price of any beer bar girl. To be fair they weren’t too pushy. Funny though a girl was winking and waving and some guy bought her a drink and when she went and sat with him and he looked away she kept pointing at me😆😆😆 she made her excuses and got back on stage and couldn’t get off it fast enough when I bought her a drink. I bought her and mammasan a shot too. But it was 1500 already and she was pushing for bar fine (which I was def warming up to) until I found out how much it was. Double the price.

I would rather buy a plain jane a drink who doesn't ask rather then a gorgeous one who asks and I would say many other guys are the same.

I 100% agree honesty works and you can be a butterfly. They may not like it at first but if they are making money from you keeping the drinks flowing and tipping generously they will let it slide as long as your not a twat and are honest upfront with the mumason about your intentions.

Trevor, l have be going to pattaya over 10 years, l had a motorbike accident year's ago, l struggling walk there because it's uneven, l need a hotel, like the metrapol, but there are to many steps up to it and could do with a motorbike that stands up on its own, saying all that l love the bar's, l send a lot of money there, because that's that's that's

The gogo bar on soi 7 or maybe 8,had a jacuzzi with two girls that displayed amazing accuracy "Shooting" ice cubs into your beer glass!

always try to buy the mamasan (or papason) a drink, even if she don't sit and chat for a couple minutes. Her job is vary stressfull being the manager and/or owner, so a drink every now and then will help her get through the day/night

Well done. I will add: The Mamasans are also trying to make a decent living. Essentially, she is a Maitre'd. Tip her when you arrive just as you would a Maitr'd at a restaurant. Tell he what you want. Offer her another tip to be paid at the end (if she delivers). You suggested to buy her a drink. Sure; OK; fine. But, you will certainly get her attention with cash which is what she wants. One other point: You mentioned that "Kink" can get crowded. That's true, for the most part. However, as in many establishments, there is a section that is reserved/ separated. Dress well, act well and tip the Mamasan - you may find yourself at the front of the line.

here is good advice: just don't go there, both GCs and beer bars got better atmosphere inside, no service staff standing in front of you and staring at you if you don't drink too slow, girls in a go go are way more pushy for drinks than in other places and less willing to go out. Price gap I guess no need to mention, especially if you pay extra for worse service. (if you think I was just unlucky with my experience in a go go and lucky in bars and GCs then feel free to ignore this comment) PS: you can find nice girls also in beer bars and GCs

You just made my point mate...there prices are out of control...there price increases is going to put the out of business...they lost there value for ennterment money. I just had this conversation with my mates, and they felt the same way. There's no value for money spent.

Been to many. In Manila, Bangkok, and Hong Kong. Have to enter the place with a limit for yourself. Like a two/three drink limit. Have to learn the word NO. If you sit with a woman make sure it’s ONE woman. Not the whole gang. If you make it just with one woman only it becomes more easier to deal with. You can be nice but learn to say NO. Again, limits. Let them know immediately that you aren’t a sucker. Naive.

The sign for staff outside apparently the bar with the best looking staff in Walking Street says there is a drink quota of 50 or 60 drinks for a 10 day contract depending on the contract chosen. That is obviously, an average of 5 or 6 drinks per night for 10 days. Which is an average of about 1 drink per hour per night for 10 days. I presume, that for every drink under the quota, the staff member is docked the price of a lady drink charged to the customer. The staff member does not loose the commission but the price of a lady drink. If the staff member only gets on average 5 lady drinks a night instead of 6 lady drinks, at the end of 10 days they will be docked about 2,000 baht.

A 200baht drink is about $6 USD. That’s not too bad, but I’m sure that’s just the beginning. Drinks in US bars and restaurants is $8 to $15 for beer and $18 to $25 for cocktails. Not worth it.

Pre covid ,the two go go bars near the Beach Rd end of soi 7 and 8 had excellent fair draught beer and girls polite and respectful but on an odd visit was refused draught beer in a Walking street go go, so I left. Simple really if you dont want to be ripped off!

Just not gonna frequent these places anymore. Freelancers and online sites now take the drama and expense out of having to deal with the bar fleecing.
