Thanks for this great resource, Chris. I'm looking forward to part 2, as I have often searched for an ideal transition mount for attaching a board to a tripod and am very interested in seeing what kind of setup you have.

Thank you Chris for taking the time to sharing your setup....I like to use 1/4 plexiglass as well as masonite board.... have you ever stretched your watercolor paper? Look forward to your video of the tripod set up... thanks again, very informative.

FYI: I’ve seen artists who use plexiglass fully wet both sides of 140# paper without stretching.

@@Scottlp2 yes I have done that and with good paper works great for wet on wet!

Hi Ralph, thanks for sharing your setup with us and years ago I tried using large amounts of masking tape to secure my paper to a Masonite board, however I use gummed block for a long time now 😎👍🍀

When I started watercolor lessons, my thrifty instructor also showed how to use recycled cardboard. We used clear tape it to keep it "waterproof". The masonite was stiff and thin, the foamcore was light and the cardboard was something I already owned and I didnt have to run out and buy. We also ued clipbards. All were cheap alternatives to buying a drawing board or easel. tfs, very useful info.

Thanks Chris. I didn't know about the 2x4 trick. I'll try that. I bought a Masonite board at Deserres art supplies store. They're a Canadian chain and have lots of pre-cut boards for oil painters use. But mostly I use a hard plastic clipboard bought at Dollarama, the largest Canadian dollar store chain, because I paint small at my kitchen table. Works perfect and cost about $2. I'd like to hear what solutions others use. Cheers from Toronto Ontario Canada. 😊

Chalkboard is smooth gloss white one side and black chalkboard texture the other. Can be cut to desired size at box store. Usually in the smaller cut board section. Less expensive than the masonite.
