V7 STI Owner from Germany here. You really did a good job explaining on what needs to be done. Also interesting to see that Japan got something similar as we do in Germany, with the Car inspection. Its also super regulated here and you cant really have anything here. Like its impossible to get TE37's or a normal front lip (except the lip passed like 500 inspections). Im thinking about importing a car to Germany as well in the late future, but these prices are driving me crazy.
I appreciate the comment! I had no idea Germany was strict as well. Are you able to tune the engine at all? Also, time to think about importing sooner than later, it will only get more expensive :(
@@carswithsepp You can tune, yes. Sadly only to a certain degree, engine swaps are super hard to do as well. If you want to tune something its gotta be certified products which is mega expensive to get for the manufacturer and so on.
Nice video. How and where can you find a reliable broker in Japan who could get the bidding vehicle checked personally and reconfirm the auction sheet. Is there any website in Japan that lists them(so as to not get defrauded) or blacklists them?
When your car arrived in Vancouver did you pick it up yourself? How do you get access to the port to pick it up? Can you just walk up and get permission? Or do you have to fill out paperwork beforehand to get port access. Thats the main thing im worried about, once the car gets into canada how do i get it off the port and onto a trailer to take it home.
I hired someone from uship to pick it up. I had a customs broker who my import broker recommended provide me the documentation to give to my delivery driver via email. He took these documents to the port and the port authority let the delivery person pick up and load the car onto the trailer. From there it gets delivered to you. The best thing I would recommend you doing is hiring a customs broker, the cost of the broker is worth it compared to the paperwork headache you may face.
