Well, that seems clear enough. Thanks. Now I have absolutely no excuse for not buying some of your samples.

Hi Tim, thank you for showing a possible workflow with presets. I've already ordered the Iridium feeling like a kid for it's christmas-presents. For what reasons ever it will take some time for delivery (Corona etc.). Anyway.... i have quite a number of patches i've created with the Blofeld (now sold) i would like to reconstruct on the Iridium. The problem that i see is the import of wavetables i've downloaded from some sources and used to form sounds on the Blo ... for example Sequential VS-Wavetables and so on... maybe you have some time to elaborate on that process of importing wavetables as well. I really would appreciate . Thank you and best regards, Robert

To the point tutorial - thanks. Tim: have you ever used the external audio inputs and processed (using Iridum's or Quantum's multitude of processing power) whatever shows up there - live - say from an acoustic instrument via mic, electric guitar, other synths, modular modules (or whatever)? If so: how did that work out?

Thanks Tim! Are you using a VESA-mount stand for your Iridium here, and if so which product is it?

Thanks and yes, it's just a very cheap mount I found on Amazon.

And lastly: just imported a folder-ful of your presets. Didn't however notice any effects in the patches there. or might it be the case that effects values are not saved with qpat files? Seems impossible. Just wrote on Waldorf's forum about an overwritten patch's effects being "preserved" in the imported patch that ends up imported to that overwritten patch's place (and the original patch's effects even being "preserved" in all imported patches if it's a folder-ful)... Comments? Seems a bit weird...

Thank you for the video. What is a reasonable size and speed for an sd card for the iridium? Is there a hardware limit? I did not find any information in the manual.

ZEN MAN Unless anyone else can help, I think you might need to ask that question to Waldorf support. I have not personally seen any official recommendations or specifications regarding SD card choice. That said, the regular SD cards I use in my various cameras seem to work fine.

Hey Tim! Im pretty sure i saw you referencing a software editor for making up quantum samples (with keygroups etc) outside of the quantum, ive gone back through your videos and cant find anything, if im remembering correctly could you remind me what the software was please?

Hi Dan. No software needed for the Quantum. Maybe you are thinking of my Prophet X video? There are a few software products mentioned in that video.......

@@TimShoebridge hey, yes I think you’re right! I was thinking maybe there’s software that would make it easier to convert existing sample instruments from other formats

Without checking "Overwrite existing locations", it loads automatically in an empty location.

Hi Tim, thank you for taking the time to make this clear video! Although in the end I did not get your Steel patches to work... I followed the instructions. I copied the samples folder and the patches to the SD card (SanDisk Extreme Pro, that I also use with our any problems in my photocamera) , imported them to the Quantum into some slots that were empty, the patches were imported in the designated slots, but then appeared the following message in a 'Load Samples Map' window: Loading samples/Tim Shoebridge/Steel/Plectrum/1B-a.wav file failed. And under it also the names of the other samples in the map. It also gives a button to click to find the samples, and when I hit that, I was directed to a 'Find Samples' window, with below it the Samples directory. In that I could not find the samples I want. Can you give me any advice? I appreciate it very much!

Hi Peter, So it sounds to me that the samples were not successfully imported at the time you imported the presets. Did you get any error message displayed at that time? This may be something you need to approach Waldorf support about if there was no message, but I wonder if you have sufficient room to import the samples into your synth? Hit the Global button, and then choose "System", you should see some statistics there relating to the amount of free space for samples...

@@TimShoebridge Hi Tim, Thanks for your answer! Importing the patches went well, I think, (I can see your Steel patches in the list of patches.) But I do not get sound. The error message that I get while importing the presets is the aforementioned 'Load Samples Map' window, with the text: 'Loading samples/Tim Shoebridge/Steel/Plectrum/1B-a.wav file failed'. And under it a list of the names of the other samples that also failed to load. So, 1E-a wav file; 2A-a wav file, etc.

@@peterbalde The only thing I can think to try is to create a new patch, set it to particle engine, and try to load into it one of those samples that appears to not work. At least that way you will find out if the samples are actually present in your synth's memory or not. But either way, if they are missing or present and can not be loaded, then there is something wrong that I think Waldorf alone will have to answer. Please let me know how you get on.
@peterbalde

@@TimShoebridge when I load a sample in the particle engine from the internal synths memory I don't see any of the Steel maps or samples in the display and when I try to import the samples from my sd-card into the particle engine I see no samples in the display in either of the three Steel maps of the SD card. Then, when I check the content of my SD card on my computer, the samples are all present... So I guess I will have to contact Waldorf?
@TimShoebridge
@TimShoebridge 3 года назад
@@peterbalde So just to confirm, you are in the particle engine, you have chosen Actions | Import, you access the SD card and navigate to the samples folder on the SD card, then navigate down all the subfolders below it until you get to the bottom, but once you get there the folder is empty? But when you check that same folder on your PC you can see all the .wav files are there? I am going to contact Waldorf myself on this issue but it would be best if you also raise a ticket with them as they may need to ask you some more questions and try a few things out on your synth. The only thing I can think is that the files or the folder are somehow corrupt. It may be worth formatting the card, copying the presets and samples over again, making sure you eject the drive after copying, and then try that import again. But that said, it is possible there is a bug with the synth or some limitations with the SD card reader itself.

I avoid keeping the synth connected over USB due to the ground loop issues it can cause :(
