Wedding? Early in the morning. That is crazy. Hopefully you track them and send a copy of your video. I am sure they will be surprise and appreciate it.
I would rather be in the middle of nowhere in van than in a city. You would hear every little noise and wonder what it was. Glad you decided to move Gary. Take care Michelle.
Hi Gary, yes when I was using mine for motorbikes I always got nearly 40 mpg then once it was finished it was 28 doing 60 mph , mines got shower toilet washroom full oven and 80 ltr fridge so weighs 3 tonne now and now does 32 mpg after remap the bf goodridge tyres dont help but it drives much better , might catch up on the travels one day , have a good one cheers Chris.
Mines got no weight in it. If I drive sensibly at 70 I get 17 to 19 mpg. If I do 62 I can get around 23 to 25. If I do 55 I can get 28… 32 if I have the wind behind me. It’s dire. Yep say hello if you’re passing !!
I have been there a few times. This is the first of your videos I have watched. Excellent too, thank you. You're very brave putting up your drone in the wind and snow. I thought you were going to park along the old road below Mam Tor, where many people park up for the night. Last time I parked there, there were 35 vans spread out along the road - safety in numbers.
Hi there and welcome to the Channel! Glad you are enjoying the videos too! Both the top and bottom of Mar Tor are good for parking, always lots in both places. Im there a few times each month with work. Definitely a good spot isnt it
Loved this video Gary . My son lives in Sheffield and we have Done this exact journey a few times ending up a mam tor. Unbelievable to see a wedding though at 8.30 in the morning.
Merry Christmas from Googong Australia- first time we’ve watched your Vlog - really enjoyed your natural approach & mixed footage! So Glad you moved - such a lovely impromptu unplanned outcome with the sunrise (@ 0830?) wedding! Its warm here so nice to see cold & snow there - lots of car accidents here in this weather too - maybe it’s the season! Ta for sharing - keep it up!
Hi Christine, wow Australia! not many viewers from there, Welcome!! Thanks so much for the feedback, really happy to know you are enjoying the videos. Wedding was special, still hoping i can find them and share the videos to them. Hope you're enjoying your summer, Merry Christmas!!!
Another fantastic video, I actually perform legal wedding ceremonies in Ireland and ive performed them in some fantastic different locations but I think I would have died from the cold performing a ceremony outdoors in that cold hahah
Thank you Eileen! Ah what a wonderful thing you do. Well it was around -3 I think where I was, but up there with the wind chill would have been more like -10. They did well!! 😂
Hi Gary, Have you had it mapped yet mine is a 2014 mwb crafter and struggled like yours up Winnets pass at first , now its had a 180 from 136 map done it flies up . Think were heading there for new year its only 80 mile cheers mate. Chris
Hi Chris, no not yet but will be doing as mine is the 108. To be honest the reason I'm remapping it is for MPG though, my van is worse on a motorway at 60mph than it is on an A road at 50mph. Will be glad to get that sorted. Otherwise the lack of power doesn’t bother me really. But if I can get better MPG and power I'll take it 😀
My late father was in the police and always said trust your gut instinct if you don't feel safe leave I don't like crowds and noise so a park up well away would be the better option. I hope you did manage to send the couple the drone footage that would be a perfect memory for them. Agh Gary you are making me regret not having the optional extra light bar fitted on my pickup truck now but I did invest in a remote control magmount search light so I can fit it whenever I want.
Couldn’t agree more, I’ve tried to instil into my children trust your instincts you’ve got them for a reason so use them, they’re nearly always correct
Omg Gary I’m so glad you moved.. what a place! Fantastic drone photography ❤ hope you made it to Manchester safely, Mother Nature at her best lol x missing Amika
Love watching your videos Gary, I’m not a Van Lifer but a Wannabe! This vid was brilliant. As a soft Southerner I think the option of staying in the centre of Sheffield seems a a little mad, but I guess there is such a thing as being hidden in plain sight. Maybe wise to move on if advised to by the police (for your own safety and not because you were not allowed to be there). Great footage from your drone and a wedding to boot in the morning (Mad but memorable). Stay safe and Happy Christmas 🎉
Hi Steve, thanks so much from dropping a comment here. I honestly felt safe there as it was just so busy, I think people were far too occupied. But yes I always take advice off those who know better. The drone footage was super, I really hope I can find the couple to share the videos and images with
Hi Mike, thanks for the feedback. Ping me an email and I'll send you the link to the drone 👍 I'll also add it to the description when I get better Internet (in the Highlands)
First time we watched you just came across you.really good no way would we fancy staying in middle of night life clubs. Great drone shots. Very pretty and very cold.lovey seeing some one get married in the snow. We are in our motorhome in Romania and it's not as cold as we're you are. it's sunny but cool. No snow so far But been told it would normally be knee high in snow. Be watching your next video.
Mate I just found your channel from this video and binge watched so many of your videos, what a great channel! Amazing that Amika can look back in the future and see all these memories you have created together. Keep up the good work and Merry Christmas to you both!
Welcome aboard mate! Thanks for the feedback and so glad to know you are enjoy the videos! Yep a great video diary for her, not many of us can remember much from being 8 years old! Merry Christmas right back to ya! Have a good one and all the best!!
I worked in Sheffield for years (Rachel) so know those places well! I’m not sure I would of stayed there. Much better to move so you could get your head down. How magical (but freezing) getting married on Mam Tor & @ that time of day! I hope you find them! Great vid Rachel, David & Roxy
well, that was something different,Gary. who would have though someone would be mad enough to get married on Mam Tor in the freezing winter. A once in a lifetime capture for the drone for sure. You deffo did the best thing exiting that carpark. It looked well dodgy! Bessy regs-Kenny
Love the drone footage!!! Maybe the married couple will see this. I’d say you definitely made the right decision. I must be turning into an old fart but drunk people and fights doesn’t do it for me anymore. Amika could be one of those drunk people one day…… we’ve all done the drunk nightclubbing thing 😂😂😂😂. I used to live 5 minutes from a nightclub hence why I now live in the middle of nowhere.
Interesting Looks like I'll give Sheffield a miss. Has Sheffield got the twisted spire? Last time that way was 30 years ago. Daring going mam tore in winter. Did you have to navigate Snake pass to Glossop too? Take care
Sheffield is a great city!! You should go! The twisted spire is in chesterfield, that’s not so great! Snake pass is closed in any type of wintery weather. Mam tor will be open though. Merry Christmas 🎄
My mate left his car in the same carpark over night on a Saturday once whilst we went out on a bar crawl, nothing happened when we returned the next day 😀
Hi! Just came across your channel and watched your Christmas Party park-up attempt. Good decision to move on - when it doesn't feel right, it probably isn't! We always trust our gut instinct, although our motorhome is a LOT more conspicuous than your van 🤣. We are thinking of changing to a Crafter next year (after more research this year) as we want to explore more off the beaten track places both in the UK and EU. Good to find you 😉 Come say hello @AmeriManxTravels
Why are you scared? I don't get it? The rough English bar scene out your window big deal. Dude you cant live your life in fear. Fortune favors the brave. I would hate to see you on a battlefeild.
@@TravelwithGaryandAmika ok then. Just for future reference and so I know the danger. If I go to the clubs and bars in that area will I be in danger? If so what peticular danger would I be dealing with? I see your ex SP and a soldier ect so you would know.. We're you worried about gun shots or were you sketched out enough to leave by another thing I'm not seeing here? Maybe you were playing it safe which is always the best way to go I was just wondering.
It's years ago since I was in Sheffield I did live there for a couple of years, i lived at the worst place. I don't think I would stay in a van anywhere there. Xx
I'd rather spend the night in a layby full of lorries than spend it next to a night club with loadsof drunken revelers. People should be aware of the law " being drunk in charge of a vehicle". You can't have a drink too many and sleep in a live in vehicle or motorhome overnight. If you have access to the keys of the vehicle even if they are not in the ignition you can be done for drink driving. It's a grey area with a caravan. Glad that you said you were drinking alcohol free beer Gary as I always carry some in my car. Some of them taste pretty good.
I dare you to camp outside of Walkabout in Bournemouth. You would not get through the night without any dents inflicted to your van or at least a window being smashed . Sad state of UK towns all over
Ya muppet! Why on earth would you risk a brick through the van window (or worse!). I was yelling at you! Anyway, another great video - hope you find the bride/groom.
My heart was in my throat willing you to leave that flippin car park! But I had a sneaking suspicion you had because I saw your insta story of the wedding on Mam Tor. You’ve been in enough danger in your life. Ps won’t take offence to the rain comment - it’s true but chrimbo shopping in Trafford 😱 I’d rather sleep in a car park in Sheffield 😂…….
Being surrounded by drunk yobs scares me. I wouldn't want to walk alone there. They should close the bars there and clearly many people ruin Sheffield and make it unsafe
Hi Gary, Amika! I ran a free google map based webpage with a simple form. I'm trying to put together safe and unsafe places to car living. If you have a free 1 or 2 minutes to add a couple of spots, I and the nomad community would be very grateful to you!🙂
@@TravelwithGaryandAmika yeah totally agree, it's other people I can't cope with once their drunk. I've had a bad experience in that car park though when I was younger, it's too rowdy Sheffield too much drama once everyone has drunk
You have never had a crash.... But you have seen loads in Your Mirrors....LOL..... A Van in the Middle of Sheffield...ARE YOU MAD????? They nick Tanks round there!!!! ps: If you have the Keys and are drunk inside a vehicle can`t the Police do you for being "Drunk in Charge" ?? Or is it different for Gypsy`s??? :-)) xx
I am mad yes. Drunk in charge, depends on intent I suppose. If I’m asleep in my bed in living quarters, I think it’s unlikely and even if they did it would he thrown out of court. As a sober gypsy… it’s irrelevant anywayhow
@@TravelwithGaryandAmika I have heard of someone asleep in the passenger seat getting done, Because they had the keys... But it could be an Urban myth.... Stay safe out there Crazy Guy...... :-))
I regularly stealth camp in the centre of London and only when you’re hidden away are you in trouble, that spot would have been 99% ok as it’s well lit. That’s my old stomping ground and spent many Saturday nights down West Street as a twenty something staggering home 10 miles and 2-3 hours kip then up for work on the Sunday. What memories that young couple will have, how wonderful for them 👏👏👏
Yeah I felt totally safe there. The other option was by decathlon where there is no one around, much higher risk. It was only the copper convincing me to leave that swayed it. Yep, great wedding setting for them indeed!!
@@TravelwithGaryandAmika I can imagine a professional crew being up there early to avoid people getting in the shots but I can't imagine that there are too many couples that would be there at that time in the morning. Also, interracial marriage is of course legal in the UK, unlike Israel, but there are actually very low numbers of White women marrying black men. In the media of course though nearly every White woman marries a black man.
Sorry but you are a , have ended up in exactly the same place when meeting up with old mate i worked abroad with , Iam from London and we had two bird,s with us who we had just met . Inthat same car park in my Kon-tiki ,police knocked on door andafter explaining to them was drunk and on a promise , they we,re cool as f and mo worries let us stay ..
My heart was in my throat willing you to leave that flippin car park! But I had a sneaking suspicion you had because I saw your insta story of the wedding on Mam Tor. @@TravelwithGaryandAmika the daft thing posted twice! Sorry. I also meant to say - the start of your video was great 👍🏼 and duely noted. Good call driving past. There is no good time to go to Trafford!
