Sorry to disappoint you, but very little from the books will help you understand how they're making rings of power on the show. One of the only things that we are told is that Sauron corrupted the rings except for the 3, which he never touched. And that "magic" was used in their forging. In fact, only one ring in the books was known to be made of mithril (Nenya) and the Dwarven rings were of gold. Mithril is also treated very differently in the books. I suspect that this "reject ring" in the show foreshadows some features of the rings that are being made for men, or maybe even the One ring. For example, this ring made the bearer invisible and took her to the unseen world, where she saw Sauron in his true form. Elendil's daughter and Pharazon's son are just awful. I am afraid to theorize on the events from the books that I'm pretty sure will happen, so I'm just going to give you my show tinfoil theories: 1) not this season, but Kemen gets a ring and eventually becomes a Ringwraith. 2) the Adar/Galadriel team up will ultimately not be successful because the Elves betray Adar. Just a couple of crazy guesses lol. Thanks for the video!
That crystal ball on Numenor (called a Palantiri) is a way that Sauron could know about what is happening there. (While Miriel and Pharazon have both seen "the future" in it - it is actually primarily used as a communication device)
@roadtotarvalon Smaug is a possibility. There is absolutely no mention of him before the third age, when he flies in out of the blue as an adult to take over Erebor. It is not that Smaug hasn't been born yet, he just wasn't part of the story. So, the show can do whatever they want. However, we already have one big bad creature potentially threatening the Dwarves right now, so I really doubt they would waste the CGI on a dragon.
I liked this episode, but it felt a bit rushed for me. Like if they had squeezed in 2 episodes in 1. Numenor could easily have been en entire episode itself.
