Great video! But the STI transmission is one of the best transmissions you could find on a stock car. Yes the wrx trans is like glass but the STI transmission is flawless.

Have had the pleasure of having driven a wide variety of vehicles. That said, a rare treat was getting to drive a 06 WRX pushing roughly 450 horsepower through a built 5 speed with straight cut gears. Real excitement begins when the turbo spools and it becomes all go!

The STI became one of my favorite cars from childhood to now. I want to thank my brother so much for introducing it to me. I don't know why but the car got my attention in Underground 2. Ever since then I only used the Subaru in all racing games, was it the color? The orgasmic boxer engine? Or just on looks? Who knows, one day I will buy my dream car.

You both know there is nothing like 'the WRX' or 'the STI', right? The Subaru Impreza WRX was introduced to the world in November 1992. STI was founded in 1988 and they got their hands on the Legacy and Leone before the Impreza. The first Impreza prepped by STI was the 1992 WRX Type RA. The first STI badged Impreza was the 1994 Impreza WRX STI Version I. Every model year has different specs, limited editions, different trim, options, and different models to choose from. Try to compare a 2001 WRX STI Type RA Spec C to a 1996 WRX Type RA STI Version II. Or a 2006 WRX STI S204 to a 1998 WRX Type R V-Limited.

The wing in rally is meant to stabilize the car in the air from what ive heard a lot

If your Subaru is above 350hp, those wings will be useful, or if your gear is pretty short (like rally) and you need down force to brake.

The GC8 was incredibly cheap compared to other AWD cars with 200+ HP and it's performance in rally quickly made it a wellknown and affordable performance car. This paved the way for the later models.

I've owned a 2000 impreza 2.2 that I had to give up after it threw a rod during a major move. Now I own a 97 Legacy Gt with a EJ25 . Plans to turbo swap bc I am mad they never made a turbo model of these ! I also live in Colorado ! Hope to see you on the road bro!

I have a 2011 STI and when I lived in Hawaii I'd take it into dirt lots with my buddies and slide around... Now that I live in northern Illinois, I practice my awd sliding around empty shopping mall parking lots lol Slide in between and around light poles and also the little grass islands lol I know I moved from Hawaii but I love the snow for that reason. You can slide around without burning up your tires as much as running on dirt!

u guys r lucky for having those sold in ur area ,, where I live in we only had the STi and wrx in dealerships since 2012+ ,, we had to import all the other models either from Japan then we convert them to LHD or directly from the US ,, haven't had any regrets from owning any Subaru ,, yeah there is ups and downs but its worth it

I liked this video, and I know you had to fit a lot of information into it, but the way you rushed through things was a turn off. The video on the AE86 was brilliantly made and paced, so in my opinion, it would be better if you modelled future videos on the AE86 video rather than this one.

You totally left out the hatchback versions. I have STI hatchback and I love it because it is more functional on a day to day basis as there is a more cargo space available with the folding seats. I also love the looks of it.

Great video, thank you very much. Personally I love this car, mostly the first gerenation WRX the one Colin McRae drove. It was also featured in SEGA Rally 2 back in 1997 with updated decal job, but pretty much the same. About that gear box, could it be the type of oil used which affects the gears? I cannot be simply your style of driving, or as you say lottery.

Sti did come with moonroof. Came off a limited in 2007, made about 800. I don’t know about 06 but for sure 07, which came with black brembos instead of red, leather sti heated seats instead of blue suede sti seats, enkei wheels instead of bbs. I have a 07 limited sti.

the 6spd transmission of sti's is also a good reason for the popularity of imprezas!they handle 70-80 kg*m of torque!(plus axles-driveshafts and differentials)

for the usability i got a 2010 Impreza 2.0D, 109 HP (so sad its not much....) turbo diesel. what i love the most on this car is the AWD, especially in the winter, its the best car you can drive :) and yes, 109PS only because of the "special variant" for austria customers.... but thru that also very cheap running costs

You forgot to mention that the wrx came with a 5-speed and sti with a 6-speed until 2015 that they all came with 6-speed

Yep the gc8 sti did have 5 speeds until the 2001 bug eye came out with the first 6 speed, Although only Japan got the release for 2001 sti models unless you had it imported.

2015+ both got 6 speed but they r not the same tho, still the STi trans is better and stronger than the wrx trans
