Brilliant work as always. But you're never too old for Pokémon.

The "random stuff" white circles are, I'm pretty sure, cookie ejection forms... like frosting nibs you'd use for decorating a cake, but for making fancy cookies.
@Blandco

Oh I assumed they were for frosting or something. Neat! you find all sorts of stuff at the Goodwill by the pound.

Inexpensive, clever, and fantastic results! Sometimes with a little effort the little things in life can produce bigger results than you think. I knew this was going to be a hit just with the teaser concept you showed before the video.

I just love these videos where you craft minis out of toys and junk, it’s always so inspiring to watch! And btw I think the white eyes you gave the bigger heads make them look really interesting.

Yeah I was trying to figure out what to do to make them seem a bit more threatening and this seemed to work out!

If you're still wondering what those dragons are, they're Mega Blocks dragons. They were around in the 2000's and one of my favorite toys as a kid. There were a couple series, the first being Fire and Ice. The little guys you have are from the mystery eggs, which were little plastic eggs that opened up like draconic easter eggs and were filled with slime in addition to the dragon pieces. There were also playsets, but the only one I ever had was the Coliseum set and the mystery egg sized beast it came with. My attempts to assemble it only succeeded in giving my mother concerns about the possibility of potentially stepping on one of the spike wall pieces. (Given that said piece was basically a lego with rows of conical spines on one side, this is completely understandable in retrospect.) A lot of the play sets had weird little props and pieces that could be good for miniature making, such as sculptural elements, weird rock formations, and spears, among others. Those can be easily found for fairly cheap on ebay. Consider yourself lucky if you ever get one of the normal sized dragons, let alone the slightly larger one with the lightup translucent chest from the metallic series. They do not go cheap. The light up one was consistently listed for $100+ last I checked, and the rest aren't much cheaper. ^ ^;

You did great. They look just as good if not better than some things out of blind boxes!

Awesome work! Love the snake tails. :) Might be cool to use an upright animal - like an ape or standing bear. Then you have room for arms, claws, wings, tails, etc.

This a genius way of doing things. I'll send some of this stuff to my DM. I am definitely gonna raid some of my old toy boxes for McDonald toys. Also the dire koala could make for an amazing drop bear enemy.

I recently picked up a small tube of little animal figures from the dollar store. Really great find, might need to pick up a couple more, so I have a few to kitbash with. The lion and tiger seem like pretty decent minis - I think I can use them as is, just with a new paint job - but the others are probably not of the proper scale. Especially the spider monkey. I think they'd make for great chimera fodder.

I think it might be even better if you'd started the transition from lion to snake right at the base of the tail where the body ends and the tail begins.

Those dragons with the ball+socket limbs... I had two of those in the past, always thought they'd be sweet for D&D. Too bad I misplaced them years ago, and one literally had two left feet. No clue what they're called so I can't even find more.

Mega blocks dragons. You might get a good price on the little guys like the ones in this video, but the bigger ones are very pricey now.
@Blandco
@Blandco 3 года назад
@@griffonmender I have seen Mega blocks dragon and I don't think these are from that line. These have a massive gap between the body and the parts of at least a quarter inch. Mega Blox stuff fits together better.

@@griffonmender I think these are similar to the dollar store "Dragon Egg" toys.

Yeah I found this. www.walmart.com/ip/Prehistoric-Past-Dragon-Figurine-Puzzles-In-Hatching-Jurrasic-Eggs-12-Eggs-Per-Pack-Multicolor/567922365 These are way too overpriced to buy retail.

@@Blandco I have one of the blind egg mini megablocks dragons on my shelf right now, these look exactly the same in terms of construction- especially the rubbery wings and how they attach to the back. It's possible that the molds *could* potentially end up in the hands of bootleggers, as it's an older line at this point, but it seems weird for a cheap knockoff to go to the trouble of using multiple casting materials and painting details.
